This paper proposes a new method of measuring an air interface distance between a solid immersion lens(SIL) applied magneto-optic technology and the disk surface. For applying near-field recording (NFR) technology to the magneto-optic storage devices for the next generation, it is positively necessary to maintain the small air gap under about 100㎚. We design an apparatus that consists of some optical components such as a prism, a polarizer and an analyzer. By using the Fresnel reflection coefficient equation, Jones matrices calculation and Malus's law, we establish a mathematical model for understanding the characteristics of the system. The simulations are based on the mathematical model and through the simulation results which is made with various cases we can estimate the performance of the new optical gap sensor system. Experimental results, which are also based on the mathematical model for specific cases, are in good agreement with simulated ones and demonstrate the possibility as the new optical gap sensor.
The improvement of artificial respiration method has brought about the decrease in mortality of pulmonary diseases patients. Various respiratory curative methods, inclusive of HFOV (High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation), have been developed for more effectual and less harmful management of acute respiratory failure. However, the mechanism of gas transfer and diffusion in a bronchiole has not yet been clarified in detail. As a first approach to the problem, we measured oscillatory flows in a Y-shaped micro-channels as bronchiole model by micro Particle Image Velocimetry(micro PIV). In order to establish the fundamental technique of PIV measurements on oscillatory air flow in a micro-channel, we used about 500-nm-diameter incense smoke particles, a diode laser, a high speed camera including an objective lens, and a HFOV, which is effective technique for medical care of pulmonary disease patients, especially, infants. The bronchiole model size is that parent tube is $500\{mu}m$ width and $500\{mu}m$ depth, and daughter tubes are $450\{mu}m$ width and $500\{mu}m$ depth. From this study made on the phenomenon of fluid in micro size bronchus branch of a lung, we succeeded to get time series velocity distribution in a micro scale bronchial mode. The experimental results of velocity distribution changing with time obtained by micro PIV can give fundamental knowledge on oscillatory airflow in micro-channel.

Surface temperature of supersonic wind tunnel model was measured using an infrared thermography technique. To measure the temperature quantitatively, various calibration techniques such as blackbody calibration which converts detected camera signal to temperature, distortion correction due to the camera lens and an imbalance of camera pose, and emissivity calibration which considers viewing angles to the model surface, were employed. Throughout the study, for the quantitative as well as qualitative surface temperature measurement, it was verified that the distortion correction must be considered even for the use of two-dimensional model in aerodynamics testing.
Postcolonial critics have criticized Comparative Literature for exclusively studying literatures from the non-Western world through Western lenses. In other words, postcolonial criticism asserts that theorists and practitioners of comparative literature have traced the "assistance" of the classic "comparison and contrast" approach to an imperialist discourse, which sustains the superiority of Western cultures and economies. As a countermeasure to reading through the comparative lens, literary theories have offered a "juxtapositional model of comparison" that connects texts across cultures, places, and times. This paper examines practices of Comparative Literature in Vietnam, revealing how the engagement with decolonizing processes leads to a knowledge production that is paradoxically colonial. The paper also analyses implementations of this model in reading select Vietnamese works and highlights how conventional comparisons, largely based on historical influences and reception, maintain the colonial mapping of World Literature, centralizing Western, and more particularly, English Literature and in the process marginalizing the others. Therefore, the practice of juxtaposing Vietnamese literary works with canonical works of the World Literature will provoke dialogues and raise awareness of hitherto marginalized works to an international readership. In this process, the paper considers the contemporary interest of Comparative Literature practice in trans- national, trans-regional, trans-historical, and trans-cultural perspectives.
With the development of the e-commerce market, various types of products continue to be released. However, customers face an information overload problem in purchasing decision-making. Therefore, personalized recommendations have become an essential service in providing personalized products to customers. Recently, many studies on GCN-based recommender systems have been actively conducted. Such a methodology can address the limitation in disabling to effectively reflect the interaction between customer and product in the embedding process. However, previous studies mainly use implicit feedback data to conduct experiments. Although implicit feedback data improves the data scarcity problem, it cannot represent customers' preferences for specific products. Therefore, this study proposed a novel model combining explicit and implicit feedback to address such a limitation. This study treats the average ratings of customers and products as the features of customers and products and converts them into a high-dimensional feature vector. Then, this study combines ID embedding vectors and feature vectors in the embedding layer to learn the customer-product interaction effectively. To evaluate recommendation performance, this study used the MovieLens dataset to conduct various experiments. Experimental results showed the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art. Therefore, the proposed model in this study can provide an enhanced recommendation service for customers to address the information overload problem.
Augmenting the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) microlensing campaigns with intensive observations from a ground-based network of wide-field survey telescopes would have several major advantages. First, it would enable full two-dimensional (2-D) vector microlens parallax measurements for a substantial fraction of low-mass lenses as well as planetary and binary events that show caustic crossing features. For a significant fraction of the free-floating planet (FFP) events and all caustic-crossing planetary/binary events, these 2-D parallax measurements directly lead to complete solutions (mass, distance, transverse velocity) of the lens object (or lens system). For even more events, the complementary ground-based observations will yield 1-D parallax measurements. Together with the 1-D parallaxes from WFIRST alone, they can probe the entire mass range M ≳ M⊕. For luminous lenses, such 1-D parallax measurements can be promoted to complete solutions (mass, distance, transverse velocity) by high-resolution imaging. This would provide crucial information not only about the hosts of planets and other lenses, but also enable a much more precise Galactic model. Other benefits of such a survey include improved understanding of binaries (particularly with low mass primaries), and sensitivity to distant ice-giant and gas-giant companions of WFIRST lenses that cannot be detected by WFIRST itself due to its restricted observing windows. Existing ground-based microlensing surveys can be employed if WFIRST is pointed at lower-extinction fields than is currently envisaged. This would come at some cost to the event rate. Therefore the benefits of improved characterization of lenses must be weighed against these costs.
Phase-measuring deflectometry is a full-field gradient measuring technique that lends itself very well to testing specular optical surfaces. We have measured the deformation of the surface of a lens by transmission deflectometry with liquids. In this study, a method is proposed for measuring the refractive index distribution of a transparent object component. The proposed method combines transmission deflectometry with liquids. The deformed fringe patterns of a sample immersed in different fluids are recorded, and then the three-dimensional phase information of the sample is reconstructed numerically. We have used phase-shifting and temporal phase-unwrapping methods to retrieve the phase from the measured deformed fringe pattern, and we have used a least-squares method to find the height information of the specular surface from the calculated slope. In particular, we have proposed a theoretical model for determining the refractive index of sample and planar convex lens are demonstrated experimentally.

A Light Emitting Diode(LED) is a semiconductor device which converts electricity into light. LEDs are widely used in a field of illumination, LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) backlight, mobile signals because they have several merits, such as low power consumption, long lifetime, high brightness, fast response, environment friendly. In general, LEDs production does die bonding and wire bonding on board, and do silicon and phosphor dispensing to protect LED chip and improve brightness. Then lens molding process is performed using mixed liquid silicon rubber(LSR) by resin and hardener. A mixture of resin and hardener affect the optical characteristics of the LED lens. In this paper, computational design of static mixer was performed for mixing of liquid silicon. To evaluate characteristic of mixing efficiency, finite element model of static mixer was generated, and fluidic analysis was performed according to length of mixing element. Finally, optimal condition of length of mixing element was applied to static mixer from result of fluidic analysis.

The present study was conducted to examine the degree of variation in length-of-stay (LOS) among health care institutions participating in 17 diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) payment system and to find out hospital characteristics affecting the variation. Electronic medical claims data for treatments of severity classification '0' of 17 DRGs provided for two $years(2003{\sim}2004)$ were collected. For each DRG, the degree of variation in average LOS among health care institutions were analyzed using the random effect model. For DRGs showing significant differences in LOS, multiple regression analyses were performed to find out factors associated with LOS. Significant variations in LOS were observed 9 DRGs including unilateral/bilateral lens procedures, adult/child tonsilectomy, other anal procedures, bilateral adult/child herniorraphy, unilateral child herniorraphy, and hysterectomy, and hysterectomy using laparoscopic procedure. Among the 9 DRGs, five DRGs were selected to investigate the factors explaining for the variation. It was observed that the location of institution was significant predictors for all five DRGs. Within the same DRGs, LOS was significantly shorter among the institutions located in Seoul than those in other areas. As compared to clinics, hospitals and general hospitals/tertiary care institutions showed significantly longer LOS for DRGs of lens procedures, tonsilectomy, and other anal procedures. It is recommended that the institutions located in other than Seoul area benchmark the strategies of the institution in Seoul in efficiently managing LOS. Also, significant variation within the same severity classification such as other anal procedures implies the imminent need for improvement of patient classification system.
In contrast to content_based filtering systems, collaborative filtering systems not only don't contain information of items, they can not recommend items when users don't provide the information of their interests. In this paper, we propose the recommender agent using association item tree to solve the shortcomings of collaborative filtering systems. Firstly, the proposed method clusters users into groups using vector space model and K-means algorithm and selects group typical rating values. Secondly, the degree of associations between items is extracted from computing mutual information between items and an associative item tree is generated by group. Finally, the method recommends items to an active user by using a group typical rating value and an association item tree. The recommender agent recommends items by combining user information with item information. In addition, it can accurately recommend items to an active user, whose information is insufficient at first rate, by using an association item tree based on mutual information for the similarity between items. The proposed method is compared with previous methods on the data set of MovieLens recommender system.
