The resting cyst of Gymnodinium catenatum was found in the surface sediments collected from Chinhae Bay in October, 1991. This is the first record of the species in the Korean waters. The relative abundance was low with the maximum of $1.7\%$. The colonial motile form consisting of four cells was observed in 1992 from the excystment of the cyst collected from the Wonmun Bay in Chinhae Bay. No blooms caused by G. catenatum has been observed in Chinhae Bay during the survey.

The antibiotics-resistance profiles of 28 strains of Vibrio parahaemolyticus isolated from seawater were investigated. All of the strains studied were resistant to ampicillin (100%), but susceptible to 12 other antibiotics. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of V. parahaemolyticus to ampicillin was as high as $1,024-2,048\;{\mu}g{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. The phenotype of strain 8 changed from ampicillin-resistant to susceptible with an in-frame deletion mutant of VPA0477, a putative ${\beta}$-lactamase gene, and the MIC for ampicillin of the mutant strain was $1{\mu}g{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. In conclusion, our findings suggest that the VPA0477 gene acts as a ${\beta}$-lactamase in ampicillin-resistant V. parahaemolyticus strains.

Acquired Hallux varus is defined radiographically by a negative metatarsophalangeal angle and clinically by adduction of the hallux on the first metatarsal and most commonly occurs after hallux valgus surgery. It's the prevalence has ranged from 2% to 17%. We report a case of hallux varus resulted from weakening of support of lateral soft tissue and resection of an excessive amount of the metatarsal head during a bunionectomy after initial correction of hallux valgus. We corrected the hallux varus deformity using transfer of extensor hallucis brevis tendon with reconstruction os lateral capsule.

This paper describes a software algorithm for automatic diagnosis of arrhythmia using the criteria of Minnesota code manual. This algorithm provides more accurate and more objective information to medical doctor by standardizing the criteria of diagnosis of arrhythmia. Because this algorithm doesn't need complicated mathematic processing, it carries out the real-time automatic diagnosis that is very important in clinic. The Decision-Table technology suggests the proper results for the given conditions. So it can express clearly the complicated medical problems those are not solved by the mathematical methods. The Decision-Tables have very simple structure. Therefore, it is very easy to correct or expand the system by adding or correcting some rules.

UBV observations of $\zeta$ Aur star 32 Cyg have been made at the Yonsei University Observatory using the 60-cm Goto relflector for five years, 1988-1992. Observations made during these years cover outside of eclipse phase only. No significant light variation which would represent the secondary eclipse of red supergiant by a hot main sequence star is found. The light levels in three passbands do not show any evidence of the proximate effect of this binary system. Some strong light variations, particularly in U, are discussed with no successful explanation.

The structure of a variable liquid column oscillator(a VLCO) is analogous to that of the tuned liquid column damper used to suppress oscillatory motion in large structures like tall buildings and cargo ships. The VLCO is a system absorbing high kinetic energy of accelerated motions of the multiple floating bodies in the effect of air springs occurred by installation of inner air chambers. Thus, VLCO can improve the efficiency of energy than wave energy converters of the activating object type made in Pelamis Company. In this research, the experiment was performed in two models of same draft. The one is that weights were filled, and the other is that water was filled. The numerical results were estimated by assuming that do not exist internal flow, and the results were compared with the results of experiments.

This study examined the surface modification characteristics of NBR using sealing in automobile. Surfaces of NBR were modified by RF power Ar plasma treatment. In experiment, pressure, flux, temperature were fixed and RF bias voltage. Treatment time was changed. In friction test, we used PTFE grease. After modification, surfaces of NBR showed many grooves, hydrophilic functional groups, and lipophilic functional groups. As increasing treating voltage and time, the amount of them was increased. And wetting angle and friction coefficient was decreased with increasing treating voltage and time. However, the pattern of changing friction coefficient was not fixed.

Iron Deficiency Anemia is defined as deficiency Fe in blood. The causal relationships between this and gastrointestinal bleeding, impaired absorption, excessive menstrual flow and other maladies are not well understood. In oriental medicine Iron Deficiency Anemia is generally characterized as deficiency of ki(氣)and blood(血) defined in terms of hypofunction of the spleen and stomach, and insufficiency of the spleen and kindneys. Two Iron Deficiency Anemia patients were treated with Ickibohyoul-tang, Samchulgunbi-tang, Ickibohyoul-tang ga antler, and Sachulgunbi-tang ga antler. Symptoms improved and Blood exams (RBC, Hb, Hct) yielded higher counts. Further research concerning this is necessary.

Ten flavonol glycosides were isolated from the EtOAc fraction of the MeOH extract of Metaplexis japonica Makino. Structures of the flavonoids were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data and comparison with literature values. The flavonoids were found to be mostly common flavonol 3-glycosides. It is of interest that the sacchaide parts of the isolates were pairs of arabinosides, glucosides, galactosides, rutinosides and robinobiosides of kaempferol and quercetin. All of these compounds were isolated for the first time from this plant.

This paper describes a design and performance evaluation of robust controller which overrides unstable motion and pulls out quickly after water entry of underwater vehicle dropped from aircraft or surface ship. We use 6-DOF equation for model of motions and assume parameter uncertainty to reflect the difference of real motion from modelled motion equation. we represent a nonlinear system with uncertainty as Takagi and Sugeno's(T-S) fuzzy models and design controller stabilizing them. The fuzzy controller utilizes the concept of so-called parallel distributed compensation (PDC). Finally, we confirm stability and performance of the controller through computer simulation and hardware in the loop simulation (HILS).
