  • This research aims to develope a maturity evaluation model on the technology management competence (MEMTMC) and to investigate the relationship between technology management competencies and maturity evaluation level in Korean firms. After research framework building through literature review and field study focusing on interview process, a maturity evaluation model was suggested, including technology management competency factors such as vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures. Through the empirical study on the 111 Korean firms, the MEMTMC model was tested and some hypotheses were examined. As a result of the research, we found that the MEMTMC is significant statistically to evaluate the technology management competencies of firms from a practical point of view. Additionally, these findings suggest that firms can build up their technology management competencies, including the vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures in order to raise their maturity level of technology management competencies. But this research has some limitations such as this MEMTMC has not considered separately the variety of industry, not enough survey respondents and 5 level group firms etc.

As an empirical survey study, this study is aimed at analyzing how the peer play interaction influences peer competency and self-regulation. To achieve that, a questionnaire survey was conducted with 271 young children aged 5 years who were going to the kindergarten in the G district of Seoul. With the data collected in the survey, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, reliability test, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted by SPSS program. The analysis results are presented as follows: firstly, peer play interaction positively influenced young children's sociability, pro-sociality, and leadership as their peer competency factors; secondly, peer play interaction positively influenced their patience, endurance of waiting, and adaptation as their self-regulation factors. This study drew the conclusion that peer play interaction is a critical variable to predict young children's peer competency and self-regulation. Therefore, it will be necessary to continuously develop a variety of play activity programs which young children can join in the inside and outside of kindergarten in order to helps young children improve their peer competency and self-regulation, and to actively connect the programs with Nuri curriculum.

  • The aim of this study is to identify the competencies required for fashion-related majors that meet contemporary demands, align with the objectives of university education, and reflect the qualities desired in graduates. To achieve this goal, we conducted content analysis of relevant data and in-depth interviews with experts. First, the content analysis involved coding key information from the introductions, educational goals, desired qualities of graduates, and curricula published on the websites of both South Korea and international fashion-related universities. Additionally, we analyzed the National Competency Standards (NCS) and the Meta-goals of higher education programs set by the International Textile Apparel Association (ITAA), extracting six core competencies. Second, in-depth interviews were conducted with six experts, each with 23 to 31 years of experience in Korean and international apparel industry and academia. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and keywords were extracted. To ensure the validity of the coding results, cross-checks were performed among the researchers. The analysis identified the following competencies: empathic communication, social responsibility, professional thinking, creative and integrative thinking, global perspective, and challenging leadership. Based on these findings, establishing competencies that meet contemporary demands and developing corresponding curricula are essential steps towards creating a feedback system. Future research should focus on developing and implementing curricula that foster a virtuous cycle, ultimately enhancing students' competency levels.

  • Recently, a lot of companies intend to make spin-offs as the Internet usage is proliferating in the business area. A spin-off means a small but autonomous company which is thought to show higher profitability rather than it stays under the influence of a mother enterprise. To prove our hypotheses, we collected questionnaire data from 104 companies considering spin-offs. From experiments with Factor Analysis, we found that there exist four factors which decision-makers should consider before deciding spin-offs such as competence of unit, competence of mother company, competence of spin-off company, and support of mother company. After massive experiments with Regression Analysis we also found that there are significant three performance factors such as competence of unit, competence of spin-off company, and support of mother company. The survey also asked about three potential strategies that they may have been following for achieving business objectives: Cost leadership, Focus, and Differentiation, Six benefits factors emerged from this study: External competitiveness, Internal competency, Productivity, Change, Cost saving, and Improvement. External competitiveness was the most important benefit, and it predicted a Differentiation and Focus strategy. Productivity and Improvement also predicted a Differentiation strategy. External competitiveness, Change, and Cost saving predicted a Cost leadership strategy. However, organizations followed Differentiation and Focus strategies significantly more than Cost leadership. The assessment thus sheds light on the link between information strategy and spin off. We hope that based on our results, many companies considering a spin-off can make a right decision and expect higher performance in a turbulent business environment.
