낮은 신호 대 잡음비 특성을 지닌 탄성파 신호에 적합한 P파 도달시간 결정 알고리즘 연구 (A Study on the P Wave Arrival Time Determination Algorithm of Acoustic Emission (AE) Suitable for P Waves with Low Signal-to-Noise Ratios)

  • 본 연구에서는 방사성폐기물처분장에서 발생하는 탄성파와 같이 낮은 신호 대 잡음비로 인하여 P파의 식별이 어려운 신호에 적합한 P파 도달시간 결정 알고리즘에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 사용된 알고리즘은 임계 전압법, Akaike Information Criterion(AIC), Two step AIC, Hinkley criterion이며 샤프심 압절법에 의하여 생성된 탄성파 신호에 white noise를 적용하여 신호 대 잡음비를 낮추었다. 실험결과 임계전압, AIC, Hinkley criterion 알고리즘의 경우 배경잡음 수준이 증가함에 따라 P파 도달시간의 정확성은 감소하였으나 Two step AIC 알고리즘의 경우 1차적으로 결정된 P파의 도달시간 주변의 신호를 중심으로 특성함수와 AIC 알고리즘을 반복적으로 적용함에 따라 배경잡음 수준에 관계없이 정확한 결과를 나타냈다.

Determination of Zinc and Lead in Water Samples by Solvent Sublation Using Ion Pairing of Metal-Naphthoate Complexes and Tetra-n-butylammonium Ion

  • Solvent sublation has been studied for the separation and determination of trace Zn(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) in water samples. A synergy producing method was utilized to improve the efficiency of extraction in the sublation using an ion-pair of metal-naphth oate {M-(Nph)3- } complexes and tetra-n-butylammonium (TBA+ ) ion. After the M-(Nph)3- complexes were formed by adding 1-naphthoic acid to the sample solution, tetra-n-butylammonium bromide was added in the solution to form the ion-pair. And sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) was added to make the ion-pair hydrophobic. The ion-pairs of the metal complexes were floated and extracted into methylisobutyl ketone (MIBK) from the aqueous solution by bubbling with nitrogen gas in a flotation cell. Metal ions in MIBK solution were measured by graphite furnace-AAS. Experimental conditions were optimized as follow so. After the pH of a 1.0 L water sample was adjusted to 5.0, 6.0 mL of 0.1 M 1-HNph and 10 mL of 0.03 M TBA-bromide were added to the sample to form ion-pairs, and 2.0 mL of 0.2%(w/v) SLS was added to make the ion-pairs hydrophobic. The solution was bubbled with 30 mL/min N2 gas for 5 minutes in a flotation cell. Linear calibration curves were obtained for the determination of Zn(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) in several water samples. Reproducible results of showing a relative standard deviation of < 10% and recoveries of 80-100% could be obtained.

카드뮴과 납 전기화학적 검출을 위한 전극선정에 관한 연구 (Study on Electrode Selection for Electrochemical Detection of Cadmium and Lead)

  • Excessive presence of heavy metals in environment affects plants and fruits grown in the contaminated area. Rapid on-site monitoring of heavy metals can provide useful information for efficiently characterizing heavy metal-contaminated sites and for minimizing the exposure of the contaminated food crops to humans. This study reports on the evaluation of gold and glassy carbon (GC) electrodes with mercury or bismuth as a coating material for simultaneous determination of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) in 0.1 M $HNO_3$ solution by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV). The use of a square-wave voltammetric potential between a working electrode and a reference electrode caused Cd and Pb ions deposited on the electrode surface to be oxidized, thereby generating electric currents at different potentials. The mercury-coated gold electrode was not sensitive enough to detect the usable range of Cd concentrations (1 to 100 ppb). The GC electrodes with mercury or bismuth displayed well-defined, sharp and separate current peaks for Cd and Pb ions when the square-wave voltammetric potentials were applied. The peak currents measured with both mercury- and bismuth- coated GC electrodes were linearly proportional to Cd and Pb concentrations in the range of 1 to 200 ppb in 0.1 M $HNO_3$ with strong linear relationships between concentration and peak current ($R^2$ > 0.95), indicating that both of Cd and Pb ions could be quantitatively measured.

양극벗김전위법 비스무스막 유리탄소전극을 이용한 표준 쌀 분말 내 카드뮴과 납 측정 (Using a Bismuth-film Glassy Carbon Electrode Based on Anodic Stripping Voltammetry to Determine Cadmium and Lead in a Standard Rice Flour)

Rapid on-site monitoring of heavy metals can provide useful information to efficiently characterize heavy metal-contaminated sites and minimize the exposure of the contaminated food crops to humans. This study reports on the evaluation of a bismuth-coated glassy carbon electrode for simultaneous determination of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) in a NIST-SRM 1568a rice flour by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV). The use of a supporting electrolyte 0.1 M $HNO_3$ at a dilution ratio (sample pretreated with acid digestion in a microwave oven: supporting electrolyte) of 1:1 provided well-defined, sharp and separate peaks for Cd and Pb ions, thereby resulting in strongly linear relationships between Cd and Pb concentrations and peak currents measured with the electrode ($R^2\;=\;0.97$, 0.99 for Cd and Pb, respectively). The validation test results for spiked standard solutions with different concentrations of Cd and Pb gave acceptable predictability for both spiked Cd and Pb ions with mean prediction errors of 6 to 30%. However, the applicability of the electrode to the real rice flour sample was limited by the fact that Cd concentrations spiked in the rice flour sample were overly estimated with relatively high variations even though Pb ion could be quantitatively measured with the electrode.

  • 쌀분말시료중에 미량으로 존재하는 비소(As), 납(Pb), 셀레늄(Se)등을 분석하기 위하여 매질변형방법에 의한 흑연로원자흡수분광법을 이용하였다. 흑연로내에서 측정원소의 열안정성과 간섭매질의 휘발성을 증가시키기 위해 매질변형재로서 팔라듐과 질산마그네슘 혼합물을 사용하였다. 몇가지 금속원소(As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Se, Zn)에 대해 팔라듐과 질산마그네슘 혼합물에 의한 매질변형효과를 검토한 결과 As, Pb, Se에 대해 뚜렷한 회화 및 원자화 온도의 증가와 흡수도 상승효과를 확인 하였다. 마이크로파 산가압분해법에 의해 쌀분말시료를 분해하고 표준물첨가법에 의해 As, Pb, Se을 분석하였다. 바탕선 보정에는 Zeeman effect를 이용하였으며 특성농도는 건조시료기준 As 26 ng/g, Pb 18 ng/g, Se 24 ng/g이었다.

Potential Biases Arising in the Use of Cascade Impactors to Estimate Respiratory Tract Deposition Patterns of Lead-Acid Battery Plant Aerosols

  • The region of the respiratory tract where inhaled particles deposit can have important implications for the causation of local or systemic toxic effects. For most aerosols of occupational importance, respiratory tract deposition can be predicted from the aerodynamic diameter of the particles. With the advent of cascade impactors, particularly those of personal sampler size, the determination of the aerodynamic diameters of aerosols has become more common. Some limitations of cascade impactor use are well recognized (e.g., particle bounce and substrate overloading) and are generally correctable. However, two important limitations of the instruments may not be receiving adequate attention: relative humidity effects on potentially hygroscopic aerosols and the collection characteristics of fibrous aerosols as compared to their actual deposition site potential. The results of this study, when compared to results of previous controlled laboratory trials, suggest that, while potentially hygroscopic lead aerosols from lead acid battery plant operations do not appear to be affected by changes in plant environmental humidity levels, the potential - exists for significant size changes upon inhalation. Secondly, fibers were detected in aerodynamic size ranges that would be associated with deep lung deposition; however, upon microscopic examination, these same fibers would actually be predicted to deposit in the upper airways. This study suggests that the physicalchemical properties and morphological features of an aerosol should be carefully considered by industrial hygienists before cascade impactors are used in attempts to predict the effects of inhaled aerosols.

수돗물에서 무기 오염물질 최소 반응 농도 결정의 실험적 고찰 (An Experimental Study on the Determination of Minimum Response Concentration of Inorganic Pollutants in Tap Water)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 실정에 맞는 한국형 CWS 구축의 일환으로 국내 배 급수 시스템에서 오염 사고 발생가능성이 있는 무기 오염물질 네 종류(카드뮴, 크롬, 망간, 납)를 선정하고 batch 실험을 통해 각 오염물질의 수돗물에 주입 시 감지 가능한 "최소 반응 농도(minimum response concentration)"를 결정하고자 하였다. 무기 오염물질 네 종류에 대해 수질 인자들의 최소 반응 농도를 추적한 결과 카드뮴(수질기준 0.005 mg/L)에 대한 최소 반응 농도는 0.05~0.08 mg/L, 크롬(수질기준 0.05 mg/L)에 대한 최소 반응 농도는 0.03 mg/L, 망간(수질기준 0.05 mg/L)에 대한 최소 반응 농도는 0.005 mg/L, 그리고 납(수질기준 0.01 mg/L)에 대한 최소 반응 농도는 0.02~0.08 mg/L인 것으로 분석되었다.

수종 초본식물의 중금속 내성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Heavy Metal Tolerance in Several Herbaceous Plants)

  • Restoration of ecosystems degraded by heavy metal pollution can be accomplished by soil amendment and selection and utilization of plants tolerant to heavy metals. Two former zinc mine sites, Sambo Mine in Hwasung, Kyonggi-do and the Second Yonhwa Mine in Samchuk, Kangwon-do, were selected for collection of plant samples and for determination of heavy metal tolerant species. Dominant species on mine waste deposits in Hwasung site were Panicum bisulcatum and Echinoch/oa crus-galli, while those in Samchuk site were Aster yomena, Setaria viridis, Artemisia lavandulaefolia and Oenothera odorata. Mean contents of zinc, lead and cadmium in Hwasung soil were 103, 117 and 1 ppm, respectively, while those in Samchuk soil were 23, 6 and 4 ppm, respectively, Zinc contents were higher in Echinochloa crus-galli from Hwasung and in Artemisia lavandulaefolia from Samchuk, while lead contents were higher in Panicum bisulcatum and Echinochloa crus-galli from Hwasung and Lactuca sonchiJolia and Pinus densiJolia from Samchuk. Plant species with higher cadmium contents were Panicum bisulcatum and Lactuca sonchiJolia. Comparison of metal contents between roots and shoots showed that Echinochloa crus-galli was a zinc accumulator, while Panicum bisulcatum, Persicaria hydroPiPer, Pinus densiJlora and Lactuca sonchiJolia were zinc excluders. In addition, Panicum bisulcatum and Persicaria hydroPiPer were proved to be lead excluders. When both heavy metal contents in plant tissues and biomass of individual plants are considered, it can be concluded that Echinochloa crus-galli and Panicum bisulcatum from Hwasung and Artemisia lavandulaefolia and Aster yomena are heavy metal absorbing plants. The effect of heavy metals on seed germination showed that Artemisia princeps var. orientalis had higher germination rates, but no significant difference in concomitant decrease of germination rates among the species investigated were found by increasing heavy metal contents.

  • PbO-TiO2-B2O3-BaO계 유리에서 PbTiO3의 핵생성 및 결정화를 위한 최적조건의 확입을 위해 핵생성 속도 곡선을 도출하고자 열시차 분석법(DTA)을 응용하였다. PbTiO3의 함량비가 60mol%인 4성분계 유리 샘플은 용융액으로부터 자연 냉각시켜 제조되었으며, 핵생성을 위해 유리 샘플은 40$0^{\circ}C$와 50$0^{\circ}C$ 사이에서 열처리하였다. 이때 46$0^{\circ}C$에서 핵생성 속도가 최대값을 나타내었다. DTA의 결정화 피크 온도는 핵생성을 위한 열처리시간이 증가함에 따라 감소하였으며, DTA의 승온속도에 비례하여 증가하였다. 이러한 결과는 계에 생성된 핵의 밀도가 핵생성 처리온도와 시간의 증가에 따라 증가함을 보여주고 있다.

  • Time-of-Flight(TOF) 질량분석기가 설치된 분광분석장치를 이용하여 레이저 공명이온화 분광법으로 극미량의 납을 정량하였다. 납에 대한 극미량 분석을 위해 단색 2광자 공명이온화, 2색 2광자 공명이온화 및 3색 3광자 공명 이온화의 세 가지 광이온화 경로가 시도되었다. 이 때, 첫번째 들뜬 준위는 바닥준위로부터 283.3 nm의 파장에 해당하는 6p7s($^3P_1$)준위를 공통적으로 사용하였다. 이들 이온화경로를 통해 여러가지 농도의 납 표준용액을 사용하여 0.1 ${\mu}g$에서 1pg의 영역에 해당하는 검정곡선을 얻었다. 검정곡선으로부터 얻은 본 분석법의 검출한계는 2색 2광자 공명이온화 및 3색 3광자 공명이온화의 경우 각각 20 및 10pg 이었다. 또한 각각의 이온화 경로에 따른 이온화 효율도 함께 비교 검토하였다.
