  • Recently, the floor construction method of buildings is rapidly being replaced by the steel deck construction method of factory products from the past cast-in-place formwork method in order to shorten construction period, reduce labor costs, and improve constructability. In this study, the bending capacity of a newly developed lattice integrated rib-type deck plate that is economical and constructible was evaluated through a simple beam test. As a result of the experiment, the lattice integrated rib-type deck installed by adding rib to the existing flat deck had excellent initial rigidity and maximum load-bearing ability, confirming the feasibility of practical use. In addition, the test specimen in which the tensile rebar is not integrated with the lattice and deck has very low initial stiffness, which is insufficient to support the load at the construction stage, and new details need to be developed to overcome this.

  • In this paper, thin film bulk acoustic resonator(TFBAR) lattice and balanced type filter topologies are designed and fabricated. Aluminium nitride and platinum are used for piezoelectric material and top and bottom electrodes, respectively. Air-gap is placed to avoid silicon substrate loading effect and the performance of these lattice and balanced filters is compared with ladder filters. These filters have selectivity over 15 dB for lattice type and 30 dB for balanced type and reveal wider bandwidth of the ladder filters. For balanced type filters, minor tuning procedure is not needed and they are readily available for RF filter in wireless applications.

  • Recently it is increased by degrees to construct complex or large lattice type structures such as bridges, towers, cranes, and structures that can be used for space technology. In general, in order to analyze, these structures we have used the finite element method(FEM). In this method, however, it is necessary to use a large amount of computer memory and computation time because the FEM requires many degrees of freedom for solving dynamic problems for these structures. For overcoming this problem, the authors have developed the transfer dynamic stiffness coefficient method(TDSCM). This method is based on the concepts of the transfer and the synthesis of the dynamic stiffness coefficient which is related to force and displacement vector at each node. In this paper, the authors formulate vibration analysis algorithm for a complex and large lattice type structure using the transfer of the dynamic stiffness coefficient. And the validity of TDSCM demonstrated through numerical computational and experimental results.

  • This paper is concerned with anisogrid composite lattice structures whose load bearing shell is formed by systems of geodesic unidirectional composite ribs made by automatic wet winding process. Lattice structures are usually made in the form of conical shell and consist of systems of helical and hoop ribs fabricated by continuous filament winding from carbon and epoxy composites. Design variables of the structure which are the angle of helical ribs and ribs spacings are determined by cone geometry and geodesic line. and Fabrication methods for the conical composite lattice structure are presented.

  • In this paper, evaluation method of structural integrity for cone-type composite lattice structures with hexagonal cell was conducted. A finite element analysis was used to evaluate the structural integrity of cone-type composite lattice structure. The finite element model for evaluation of structural integrity was generated using solid element. In order to consider the difference in mechanical properties between intersection and non-intersection part, the mechanical properties were applied considering the fiber volume fraction of each part. Compression test of cone-type composite lattice structure were conducted for verification of evaluation method of structural integrity. The analysis result showed 2% errors in displacement and good agreement with test result.

  • Terahertz (THz) communication has important applications in high-speed and ultra broadband wireless access networks. The THz modulator is one of the key devices in a THz communications system. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) can expand the capacity of THz communications systems, so research on multi wavelength THz modulators has significant value. By combining photonic-crystal and THz technology, a novel type of multi wavelength THz modulator based on a triple-lattice photonic crystal is proposed in this paper. Compared to a compound-lattice photonic crystal, a triple-lattice photonic crystal has a larger gap width of 0.196. Simulation results show that six beams of THz waves can be modulated simultaneously with high performance. This modulator's extinction ratio is as large as 34.25 dB, its insertion loss is as low as 0.147 dB, and its modulation rate is 2.35 GHz.

  • There are many conditions or identities for a lattice to be distributive. In this paper, we study some identities on algebras of type (2,2) and find another set of identities defining distributive lattices. We also study certain identities which define algebras of type (2,2) whose subalgebras generated by two elements are all distributive lattices with at most 4 elements.

  • In case of rectangular lattice dome which shearing rigidity is very small, it has a concern to drop Buckling strength considerably by external force. So, by means of system to increase buckling-strength, there is a method of construction that lattice of dome is one with roof material. In a case like this, shearing rigidity of roof material increases buckling-strength of the whole of structure and can be designed economically from the viewpoint of practice. In case of analysis is achieved considering roof material that adheres to lattice of dame, there is method that considers the rigidity that use effective width frame as method to evaluate rigidity of roof material. therefore, this study is aimed at deciding effective width of roof material united with rectangular lattice dome to evaluate rigidity of roof material by effective width of frame and investigating how much does rigidity of roof material united with lattice of dome increase buckling-strength of the whole of structure according to rise-ratio. Conditions of loading are vertical-type-uniform loading. Analysis method is based on FEM dealing with the geometrically nonlinear deflection problems.

  • The aim of this work is a numerical comparison (FEM) between lattice pyramidal-core panel and honeycomb core panel for different core thicknesses. By evaluating the mid-span deflection, the shear rigidity and the shear modulus for both core types and different core thicknesses, it is possible to define which core type has got the best mechanical behaviour for each thickness and the evolution of that behaviour as far as the thickness increases. Since a specific base geometry has been used for the lattice pyramidal core, the comparison gives us the opportunity to investigate the unit cell strut angle giving the higher mechanical properties. The presented work considers a detailed FEM modelling of a standard 3-point bending test (ASTM C393/C393M Standard Practice). Detailed FEM modelling addresses to detailed discretization of cores by means of beam elements for lattice core and shell elements for honeycomb core. Facings, instead, have been modelled by using shell elements for both sandwich panels. On lattice core structure, elements of core and facings are directly connected, to better simulate the additive manufacturing process. Otherwise, an MPC-based constraint between facings and core has been used for honeycomb core structure. Both sandwich panels are entirely built of Aluminium alloy. Prior to compare the two models, the FEM sandwich panel model with lattice pyramidal core needs to be validated with 3-point bending test experimental results, in order to ensure a good reliability of the FEM approach and of the comparison. Furthermore, the analytical validation has been performed according to Allen's theory. The FEM analysis is linear static with an increasing midspan load ranging from 50N up to 500N.
