Skyscrapers are often seen as a typically American phenomenon. This paper aims at demonstrating that in terms oif technology major developments are European and that, albeit in lesser number and not as high as in the USA, skyscrapers were also built in the late 19th century in countrries other than the USA. The paper concludes with an overview of late 19th century non-US skyscrapers.

This study explores the concept of children as perceived in the late Chosun period by analyzing there sets of paintings on the panel screen, the Baekdongjado (the paintings of one hundred children at play). Although these paintings originated in China, there were many differences between Chinese and Korean paintings. Results of the analysis show that children were recognized as important members of the family by the late Chosun period, that parents hoped for many children, possibly sons, to fulfill each family, and that childhood meant the period of the youngster.

최근 wired 및 wireless 환경에서 멀티미디어 데이터 전송에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있다. 또한 네트워크의 대역폭 효율성을 위해 멀티캐스트 전송이 요구되었고, 신뢰적인 멀티캐스트 전송 프로토콜인 RMT 프로토콜이 등장하게 되었다. FLUTE는 ALC 기반의 어플리케이션으로 LAN 환경 및 3GPP 및 DVB-H에서 멀티캐스트 콘텐츠 전송을 위해 사용하고 있다. FLUTE는 동일한 멀티캐스트 세션에서 FDT 인스턴스를 전송한 후에 콘텐츠를 전송한다. 그러나 FDT 인스턴스를 수신하지 못하면 콘텐츠를 수신할 수 없기 때문에, FDT 인스턴스 전송 이전에 멀티캐스트 세션에 Join해야 하는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하는 FLUTE을 이용한 멀티캐스트 콘텐츠 전송에서 Late-Join과 Late-Join 시 파일 복구 방안을 제안하였다.

Late-onset schizophrenia(LOS) is a controversial entity. It has been thought that onset of schizophrenia is limited to early adulthood, but many European psychiatrists have reported on the occurrence of schizophrenia in late life. DSM-III restricted the diagnosis of schizophrenia to patients with onset of illness before age 45 years. But, DSM-III-R, DSM-IV, and ICD-10 recognize no upper limit to the age at onset of schizophrenia. Patients with LOS have more visual, tactile, and olfactory hallucinations. Patients with LOS have more persecutory delusions, premorbid schizoid personality traits, and less affective blunting. The course of illness was favorable in LOS. We present four cases of LOS. Their detailed clinical features are reported hear with brief review.

We perform a set of N-body/SPH simulations of galaxy interactions between early- and late-type galaxies with the mass ratio of 2 to 1. We show that mass transfer during a fly by interaction (the closest approach distance ~50kpc) can cause the morphology transformation of an early-type galaxy to a late type. In our simulations, we vary the orbital parameters of the interactions and the cold gas fraction of the late-type galaxy to compare how the morphology transformation is affected by the amount of mass transfer and orbital angular momentum of cold gas accreted to the early type. We also include hot halo gas in the galaxy models and show the location of the tidal bridge can be influenced by the shock generated during the collision.

This experiment was canied out to study the effects of seeding and harvesting dates on the growth of early and late maturing rye(Seca1e cereale L.) varieties at the forage testing field of S.N.U., Suweon, from September 1986 to May 1989. Leaf and tiller numbers of rye per plant were increased with earlier seeding date, but no difference in the tiller numbers was found between harvesting dates of early and late maturing rye varieties. Tiller dry weight of an early maturing rye veriety, Wintermore was higher than that of a late maturing rye variety, Kodiak when sown as early as September. Maximun leaf area index(LA1) and leaf area index duration(LA1D) were achieved with earlier seeding and early maturing rye varieties. A higher correlation between the maximum LA1 or LAID and dry matter accumulation of rye varieties was observed in this experiment.

Twelve patients underwent surgical correction of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection[TAPVC] between Sep. 1989 and May 1993. There were 9 boys and 3 girls whose ages ranged from 10 days to 17 month [median 1.2 month]. Six patients were less than 1 month of age at operation. The anomalous drainage was supracardiac in 6, cardiac in 2, infracardiac in 2, and mixed in 2. There were 3 early death, and its mortality rate was 25%. There were no operative mortality after Sep. 1991. Age at operation, presence of preoperative pulmonary venous obstruction, preoperative assisted ventilation and type of anomaly did not affect early mortality. Late pulmonary venous obstruction was developed in 4 patients between 1 month to 4 month after operation. Among these patients, 2 were died and one was reoperated and well, and the other one was not operated because of patient`s refusal. We conclude that late pulmonary venous obstruction is fatal and its early detection and correction is important for improving late survival.

The purpose of the present study was to improve the artistic qualities in the future fashion design by investigating how the art to wear was applied to the inspiration in the modern fashion design in the late 1990s. For this purpose the present paper examined characteristics in art to wear and their impact on modern fashion design in the late 1990s. Distinguished from the traditional costume, art to wear disregarded a fixed concept on design elements such as the socio-cultural images, materials, and forms. The artists in art to wear freely expressed their "selves" and their individuality to their works in a variety of ways. In fashion design in the late 1990s the creative characteristics of art to wear were reflected in four ways: (1) eco-look, (2) humor, (3) deformation, (4) materials. The present study suggests that the creativity of the art to wear can establish the potentials and possibility in modern fashion design, and art to wear can be a crucial mediator in opening art into the real world.

Telecommunication services are distinctive in that their adoptions are influenced by network effect resulting in 'the late take-off Phenomenon' and the 'critical mass' problem. In this paper we examined, so called, 'the late take-off phenomenon' in the diffusion process of telecommunication services. We compared the parameters of the diffusion process of consumer durables with those of fax services in the US and Korea. By analyzing the parameters of a new diffusion model based on the threshold model proposed by Markus, We found that 'the late take-off phenomenon' resulted from the low heterogeneity of the threshold distribution for the potential adopters.

This study was done to establish clothing sizing system which can provide good fitting of apparel and minimize the loss due to excess inventory. One demensional mesurments(R. Martin) were made with the subjects, who were girls aged 11 to 12 living in Pusan and Kyungnam. Further the above-said mesurements were used to determine optimal clothing sizes using loss function for establishment of clothing sizing system. According to the results, optimal sizes of upper clothing for the late elementary schoolgirls should include 7 sizes, which will include heightbust circumferencesleeve length. And optimal sizes of lower clothing for the late elementary schoolgirls should include 7 sizes, which will include heightbust circumferencehip circumference.
