  • This paper concerns the issues involved in development and use of manufacturing simulation software using the Object Oriented Programming System(OOPS) in a computer integrated manufacturing environment, with particular emphasis on large scale integrated circuit fabrication. We introduce OOPS and compare it with existing simulation packages as well as general purpose languages. Our implementation of OOPS shows numerous advantages over the other programming systems. Based on our experience, guidelines for devloping manufacturing simulation systems in OOPS are discussed.

  • Power system is becoming more and more complex and large Existing procedural programming technique can't cope with software flexibility and maintenance problems. So, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) is increasingly used to solve these problems. OOP in power system analysis field has been greatly developed. This paper applies OOP in power flow analysis, and presents new algorithm which uses only a Jacobian to solve mismatch equations, and introduces a new sparse matrix storage method which is different from existing method. • A spectral inversion scheme, based on the moment-method procudure with series-expanded field within each cell by dividing the dielectric object into a small number os rectangular cells with large area, is developed to regularize the ill-posedness inherent in inverse scattering problems. One of the interesting features on the presented scheme is that the relative dielectric constant may be obtained by averaging over each cell. This averaging is expected to play an important role in regularizing the high-frequency effect due to noise.

  • In this paper, an online video summarization algorithm based on multiple object detection is proposed. As crime has been on the rise due to the recent rapid urbanization, the people's appetite for safety has been growing and the installation of surveillance cameras such as a closed-circuit television(CCTV) has been increasing in many cities. However, it takes a lot of time and labor to retrieve and analyze a huge amount of video data from numerous CCTVs. As a result, there is an increasing demand for intelligent video recognition systems that can automatically detect and summarize various events occurring on CCTVs. Video summarization is a method of generating synopsis video of a long time original video so that users can watch it in a short time. The proposed video summarization method can be divided into two stages. The object extraction step detects a specific object in the video and extracts a specific object desired by the user. The video summary step creates a final synopsis video based on the objects extracted in the previous object extraction step. While the existed methods do not consider the interaction between objects from the original video when generating the synopsis video, in the proposed method, new object clustering algorithm can effectively maintain interaction between objects in original video in synopsis video. This paper also proposed an online optimization method that can efficiently summarize the large number of objects appearing in long-time videos. Finally, Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed method is superior to that of the existing video synopsis algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose an agent model for Language-Driven Zero-Shot Object Navigation (L-ZSON) tasks, which takes in a freeform language description of an unseen target object and navigates to find out the target object in an inexperienced environment. In general, an L-ZSON agent should able to visually ground the target object by understanding the freeform language description of it and recognizing the corresponding visual object in camera images. Moreover, the L-ZSON agent should be also able to build a rich spatial context map over the unknown environment and decide efficient exploration actions based on the map until the target object is present in the field of view. To address these challenging issues, we proposes AML (Agent Model for L-ZSON), a novel L-ZSON agent model to make effective use of AI foundation models such as Large Language Model (LLM) and Vision-Language model (VLM). In order to tackle the visual grounding issue of the target object description, our agent model employs GLEE, a VLM pretrained for locating and identifying arbitrary objects in images and videos in the open world scenario. To meet the exploration policy issue, the proposed agent model leverages the commonsense knowledge of LLM to make sequential navigational decisions. By conducting various quantitative and qualitative experiments with RoboTHOR, the 3D simulation platform and PASTURE, the L-ZSON benchmark dataset, we show the superior performance of the proposed agent model.

  • Zoom tracking involves the automatic adjustment of the focus motor in response to the zoom motor movements for the purpose of keeping an object of interest in focus, and is typically achieved by moving the zoom and focus motors in a zoom lens module so as to follow the so-called "trace curve", which shows the in-focus motor positions versus the zoom motor positions for a specific object distance. Thus, one can simply implement zoom tracking by following the most closest trace curve after all the trace curve data are stored in memory. However, this approach is often prohibitive in practical implementation because of its large memory requirement. Many other zoom tracking methods such as GZT, AZT and etc. have been proposed to avoid large memory requirement but with a deteriorated performance. In this paper, we propose a new zoom tracking method called 'Approximate Feedback Zoom Tracking method (AFZT)' on DM36x-based IP network camera, which does not need large memory by approximating nearby trace curves, but generates better zoom tracking accuracy than GZT or AZT by utilizing focus value as feedback information. Experiments through real implementation shows the proposed zoom tracking method improves the tracking performance and works in real-time.

  • The SQL CLl (Call Level Interface) is a database application programming interface (API) that fits the client-server environment, and its de facto standards such as ODBC and JDBC are widely employed in various applications. The current SQL CLl standards, however, do not specify enough features for efficient retrieval of large objects (LOBs) that constitute the multimedia data. In this paper, we propose the LOB caching through the SQL CLl and describe the extension of the SQL eLl to achieve such a goal. We implement our proposal by extending the SQL CLl library for BADA - II DBMS developed at ETRI, and evaluate the performance of LOB retrieval through the cache compared to that of LOB retrieval conducted solely with the functions specified in the current SQL CLl standards.

  • For virtual reality, virtual manufacturing system, or simulation based design, we need to visualize very large and complex 3D models which are comprising of very large number of polygons. To overcome the limited hardware performance and to attain smooth realtime visualization, there have been many researches about algorithms which reduce the number of polygons to be processed by graphics hardware. One of these algorithms, occlusion culling is a method of rejecting the objects which are not visible because they are occluded by other objects, and then passing only the visible objects to graphics hardware. Existing occlusion culling algorithms have some shortcomings such as the required long preprocessing time, the limitation of occluder shape, or the need for special hardware implementation. In this study, an efficient occlusion culling algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm reads and analyzes Z-buffer of graphics hardware using Microsoft DirectX, and then determines each object's visibility. This proposed algorithm can speed up visualization by reading Z-buffer using DirectX which can access hardware directly compared to OpenGL, by reading only the region to which each object is projected instead of reading the whole Z-Buffer, and the proposed algorithm can perform more exact visibility test by using simplified model instead of using bounding box. For evaluation, the proposed algorithm was applied to very large polygonal models. And smooth realtime visualization was attained.
