Path Planning and Control of an Articulated Robot for Polishing Large Aspherical Surface (대구경 비구면 연마를 위한 다관절 로봇의 경로 계획 및 제어)

  • Aspherical mirrors have lighter weight and better performance than spherical mirrors, but it is difficult to process their shape and measure the processing precision. Especially, large aperture aspherical mirrors mounted on satellites need high processing precision and long processing time. The computerized numerically controlled machine of gantry type has been used in polishing process, but it has difficulties in processing the complex shapes due to the lack of degrees of freedom. In order to overcome this problem we developed a polishing system using an articulated industrial robot. The system consists of tool path generating program, real-time robot monitoring, and control program. We show the performance of the developed system through the computer simulation and actual robot operation.

  • Most background subtraction methods focus on dynamic and complex scenes without considering robustness against noise. This paper proposes a background subtraction algorithm based on dictionary learning and sparse coding for handling low light conditions. The proposed method formulates background modeling as the linear and sparse combination of atoms in the dictionary. The background subtraction is considered as the difference between sparse representations of the current frame and the background model. Assuming that the projection of the noise over the dictionary is irregular and random guarantees the adaptability of the approach in large noisy scenes. Experimental results divided in simulated large noise and realistic low light conditions show the promising robustness of the proposed approach compared with other competing methods.

  • A method for generation of design verification tests from behavior-level VHDL program is presented. Behavioral VHDL programs contain multiple communicating processes, signal assignment statements. So for large, complex system, it is difficult problem to test or simulation. In this paper, we proposed a new hardware design verification method. For this method generates control flow graph(CFG.) and process modeling graph(PMG) in the given under the testing VHDL program. And this method proved very effective that all the assumed design errors could be detected.

  • The full Viterbi detector for EPRML read channel system needs large area due to complex computation. There are several conventional methods to reduce the complexity such as GVA(Generalized Viterbi Algorithm) and BMS(Branch Metric Shift). This paper proposes another method, FVD(Folding Viterbi Detector), that has state transition diagram folded with inverted states. Compared with GVA detector, FVD requires only 61% gates and has lower power consumption and better BER performance.

  • Cable net system openness and flexibility is good high and the large deflection caused no damage to the structure itself. However, cable installation, install complex systems and technologies are needed.   • Most manufacturing systems are large and complex. It is natural to divide the control into a hierarchy consisting of a number fo different levels. Each levels is characterized by the length of the planning horizon and the kind of data required for the decision making process. This paper describes an approach for the incorporation of Maintenance times into a hierachical scheduling for a failure prone flexible manufacturing system. The Maintenance should not be performed too often because of the resulting reduction of capacity. The machine failure and preventive maintenance are considered simultaneously.

  • Despite many combined research efforts outstanding needs exist to develop robust safety-estimation methods for large complex structures. This paper presents a practical damage identification scheme which can be applied to truss structures using only limited modal responses. firstly a theory of pattern recognition (PR) is described. Secondly existing damage-detection algorithms are outlined and a newly-derived algorithms for truss structures. Finally the feasibility of the proposed scheme is evaluated using numerical examples of plane truss structures.

  • 본 연구에서는 지리 정보 시스템(GIS: geographic information system)에서 주로 사용되는 공간 객체를 위한 색인 방법에 대해서 과거의 연구를 토대로 분류를 해보고 이로부터 새로이 제안하는 색인 방법인 MAX (Multi-Attribute indexing scheme)에 대해서 상세히 기술한다. 또한 MAX의 여러 연산을 위한 알고리즘을 제시하고, 알고리즘의 우수성을 제시한다. 이미 성능 평가를 통해 어느 정도의 성능을 기대할 수 있으며, 이를 실제 시스템에 구현한다면 상당한 성능을 가진 지리 정보 시스템을 구축할 수 있을 것이다. 특히 MAX는 이 기법이 가지는 B 트리의 확장성으로 쉽게 구현할 수 있는 구조를 가지게 된다.

Analysis of Orthotropic Bearing Non-linearity Using Non-linear FRFs

  • Among other critical conditions in rotor systems the large non-linear vibration excited by bearing non-linearity causes the rotor failure. For reducing this catastrophic failure and predictive detection of this phenomenon the analysis of orthotropic bearing non-linearity in rotor system using higher order frequency response functions (HFRFs) is conducted and is shown to be theoretically feasible as that of non-rotating structures. The complex HFRFs based on the Volterra series are newly developed for the process and investigated their features by using the simple forms of the FRFs associated with the forward and the backward modes.

  • Since 1970s, The Petrochemical Industry in Korea has grown rapidly by the successful economic growth. While the process became larger and more complex, hazardous chemicals have been used in large quantity, Therefore, the risk of a major accident such as fire, explosion and toxic material release has been increased. Korea has been ranked the fifth in petrochemical product capacity worldwide, also required to meet international standards on process safety management. Fire Protection System integral part of safely management in Petrochemical Plants, will be reviewed.
