LDPE-나노 TiO2 복합 필름의 기능성 및 재질안정성 평가 (A Study of Functionality and Stability of LDPE-Nano TiO2 Composite Film)

  • In this work, the effects of nano $TiO_2$ on functionality and stability of low density polyethylene (LDPE) composite films were investigated for food packaging application. LDPE-nano $TiO_2$ composite films were prepared with various $TiO_2$ contents (0, 0.5, 1.0, 3.0 and 5.0wt%) by melt-extrusion and their basic properties such as crystallinity, chemical bonds and surface morphology were examined by XRD, FTIR and SEM. Ultraviolet (UV) light barrier property of as-prepared LDPE-nano $TiO_2$ composite films was also studied and the presence of nano $TiO_2$ resulted in significant improvement of UV light barrier compared to the pure LDPE film. To evaluate influence of nano $TiO_2$ on LDPE properties required as packaging material, thermal, mechanical, gas barrier and optical properties of LDPE-nano $TiO_2$ composite films were characterized with various analytical techniques including TGA, UTM, OTR, WVTR and UV-vis spectroscopy. As a result, except optical property of LDPE, no significant effects were found in other properties. Opacity of pure LDPE was greatly increased with increasing concentration of nano $TiO_2$.

은처리 세라믹과 키틴을 첨가한 LDPE 필름을 이용한 딸기의 저장 (Storage of Strawberries Using Low Density Polyethene Film Filled with Silver-coated Ceramic and/or Chitin)

  • The quality changes of strawberries packaged using low density polyethylene (LDPE) film filled with 3% silver-coated ceramic (WC30) and filled with it and 0.1% chitin (CWC) were investigated during storage at 2$0^{\circ}C$ for 5 days. In gas composition within film bag, CWC and WC30 kept higher CO2 concentration than LDPE without silver-coated ceramic and chitin (CO) did during 5 day storage. The weight loss of strawberries during storage was the smallest in WC30 and the largest in CWC in 5 days. Hardness of strawberries was the highest in WC30 and the lowest in CO during 5 day storage. pH of strwberries was increased a little until 1 day and was not changed after 1 day storage, and soluble solid content was not changed during storage. Vitamin C content was decreased significantly until 2 day storage and decreased a little after 2 days. There is no differences in the change of vitamin C content among the packaging materials. In color measurement, lightness was the highest in WC 30 and in sensory evaluation, all characteristics also had the highest scores in WC30. In conclusion, better quality of straberries was shown in WC30 than in CWC and CO during storage.

상업용 고분자 필름의 산소투과도 및 산소투과 방지도에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Oxygen Permeability and It's Proofness of the Various Commercial Polymer Films)

  • 일정온도와 압력에서 상업용 고분자필름들의 산소투과도와 산소투과방지도에 관하여 연주하였다. 산소투과방지 도는 산소특과도의 역수로 정의하고 coulometric oxygen permeability tester를 사용하여 $23{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, latm에서 24시간 동안 투과한 산소의 량을 측정하였다. 산소투과방지도의 상대적 크기는 다음과 같은 순서로 감소함을 밝혔다. 연신 Nylon (O. Nylon)> 연신 Polyester (O. PET)> 무연신 Nylon (N. Nylon)> 무연신 Polyester(N. PET)> 경질 Polyvinyl chloride (Rigid PVC)> 반경질 Polyvinyl chloride (Semirigid PVC)> 연신 Polypropylene (O. PP)> 연질 Polyvinyl chloride (P. PVC)> 무연신 Polypropylene (C. PP)> 저밀도 Polyethylene(LDPE)> 고밀도 Polyethylene (HDPE, Inflation)> 고밀도 Polyethylene (HDPE, T-die) 필름들의 산소투과방지도는 고분자의 극성, 필름의 두께 및 기계적 연신성의 증가에 따라서 증가하고 PVC에서는 가소제 첨가에 따라서 감소하였다. 포장재료로서 고분자 필름은 고분자 주쇄에 극성이 있는 필름과 극성이 없는 필름들을 산소 및 습기투과방지를 위하여 첩합하여야 한다.

절임배추 저장 중 폴리에틸렌 포장필름 종류와 소금 절임 농도에 따른 품질변화 (Quality Changes in Brined Baechu Cabbage using Different Types of Polyethylene Film, and Salt Content during Storage)

  • 0%, 5%, 10%의 염수로 절인배추를 각각 High density polyethylene film (HDPE-film), Low density polyethylene film (LDPE-film), Mirafresh film (MF-film)으로 포장한 후 4주간 $4^{\circ}C$에 저장하면서 pH, 염도, 총균수, 젖산균수, 탄력성을 측정해 품질특성의 변화를 평가하였다. pH의 경우 절이지 않은 배추(0% 염수)일 때는 필름별로 큰 차이를 보이지 않았고, 10% 염수로 절인 배추의 경우 LDPE-film, MF-film으로 포장했을 때 pH변화가 비교적 안정적이었으며, HDPE-film으로 포장한 경우는 상대적으로 pH가 크게 저하되었다. 염도는 절이지 않은 배추(0% 염수)일 때는 0.82%, 5% 염수로 절인배추일 때는 1.17%, 10% 염수로 절인배추일 때는 1.61% 정도로 4주간 비교적 일정하게 유지되었다. 미생물의 경우에는, 높은 농도의 염수로 절인배추일수록 젖산균은 증가하였지만 총균수는 감소하였다. 필름별로 관찰하였을 때는 MF-film필름으로 포장한 절임배추가 가장 작은 미생물 증가율을 보였다. 조직감 비교 결과 역시, MF-film으로 포장한 절임배추의 조직감이 가장 우수하였다. 본 연구 결과 절임농도는 10% 염도에서, 포장재질로는 MF-film이 절임배추 저장시 품질특성을 가장 안정적으로 유지시켜주는 것으로 관찰되었다. 한편 LDPE-film으로 포장한 절임배추의 경우 MF-film으로 포장한 경우 보다 품질변화에 있어서의 안정성은 떨어졌지만, 가격적인 면에서 볼 때 MF-film의 대체 film으로 LDPE-film을 사용하는 것도 고려 할 수 있겠다.

저밀도 폴리에틸렌 나노복합재료의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Properties of Low Density Polyethylene/Organo-clay Nanocomposite)

  • 본 연구에서는 용융법에 의한 저밀도폴리에틸렌 나노복합재료를 제조하였으며, 구조변화, organo-clay의 분산정도, 열적 특성 및 난연 특성을 조사하였다. LDPE/PE-g-MA/organo-clay의 조성비가 90/10/1~10 (w/w/w)일 때, XRD 분석 결과 clay 층간간격이 증가함을 알 수 있었으며, TEM을 이용하여 organo-clay의 분산을 관찰하였는데, 대체적으로 organo-clay가 일정한 방향성을 가지며 잘 분산되어 있음을, 즉 삽입형(intercalation) 나노복합체가 형성되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 LDPE 나노복합재료의 분해온도가 순수한 LDPE에 비해 약 $80^{\circ}C$ 정도 상승함으로써 열적특성이 현저히 증가함을 알 수 있었고, organo-clay 5.0 wt% 범위 내에서 organo-clay의 함량이 증가함에 따라 LOI가 증가함을, 그 이상에서는 더 이상의 LOI 증가를 보이지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

수삼의 저장성에 미치는 포장의 영향 (Effect of Packaging on Keeping Quality of Fresh Ginseng)

  • Fresh ginseng was packed by using available commercial plastic films of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), cast polypropylene (CPP) and low density polyethylene (LDPE). PVC was used as a wrapping on polystyrene tray, and CPP and LDPE were applied as pouch packages. Gas composition of the package and keeping quality of ginseng in the packages were evaluated for 20 day storage at 5$^{\circ}C$. LDPE (27$\mu\textrm{m}$ thick) Package modified the Package atmosphere to 11.7% O2 and 2.1% CO2, gave low microbial growth and good sensory score after 20 day storage.

Morphology and mechanical properties of LDPE/PS blends prepared by ultrasound-assisted melt mixing

  • Ultrasound-assisted melt mixing was applied to blending polystyrene (PS) and low density polyethylene(LDPE). The influence of the ultrasonic irradiation on the morphology and mechanical properties of the blends was investigated. It was observed that the domain sizes of the blend were significantly reduced and phase stability was well sustained even after a thermal treatment. Such morphological feature was consistent with the improvements in mechanical performance of the blends. The desirable results of ultrasonic compatibilization are mainly attributed to the in-situ formation of PS-LDPE copolymers as confirmed by a proper separation experiment. An important relationship between ultrasonic irradiation time and mechanical properties is revealed and an issue on the thermal stability of the blend is discussed.

전자스핀공명을 이용한 저밀도 폴리에틸렌의 방사선 열화 검지 (Detection of Radiation Degradation of LDPE by ESR Spectroscopy)

  • This study has investigated radiation degradation of low density polyethylene(LDPE). Samples were irradiated up to 800kGy using a $Co^{60}\;\gamma-ray$ at a dose rate of 5kGy/hr in the presence of air atmosphere at room temperature. After irradiation, storing for 2 weeks, free radical measurement of LDPE has established by electron spin resonance(ESR). ESR measurement showed that free radical concentration(FRC) was increased with radiation dose and decreased with the time. The radical types showed alkyl, allyl, and peroxy radical with the irradiation, these changed to peroxy radical with the time.

저밀도 폴리에틸렌의 전하축적 특성 (Charge Accunmulation Characteristics in LDPE)

  • Charge accumulation characteristics in low density polyethylene (LDPE) has been discussed based upon the internal charge distrubution measured by the pulsed electroacoustic technique. When the negative voltage with respect to earth is applied to the upper electrode, the negative charges near the anode and the positive charges near the cathode are accumulated in LDPE. Also, there was an asymmetric behavior of charge accumulation exhibiting that the charge accumulation near the anode keeps increasing whereas that near the cathode increases first and then decreases. Besides, under the present test conditions the internal charge distrubution becomes stabilized eventually. When the positive voltage with respect to earth is applied to the upper electrode, on the other hand, no such asymmetric charge accumulation was found. Therefore, it can be concluded that the heterocharges are accumulated at the surface region of LDPE subjected to high do voltages and that the begavior of charge accumulation depends on the polarity of do voltage and the position of charge accumulation.
