벤조피렌과 수은에 대한 기수산 물벼룩 Diaphanosoma celebensis의 복합 독성 영향 (Combined Toxicity in the Brackish Water Flea Diaphanosoma celebensis Exposed to Benzo[a]pyrene and Mercury)

  • 다환방향족탄화수소류(PAHs)는 해양 환경에 오랜 기간 잔류하며 해양 생태계에 유해한 보편적인 환경 오염 물질이다. PAH류는 대부분 해양 환경에서 금속을 비롯한 다양한 오염 물질과 복합적으로 존재하지만 혼합 오염 물질이 개체에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구는 부족하다. 본 연구는 HgCl2와 Benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P)이 해양 생물에 미치는 영향을 개체 수준에서 평가하기 위하여 기수산 물벼룩(Diaphanosoma celebensis)을 이용하여 단일 및 혼합 급성 독성 시험을 진행하였다. 혼합 독성 평가에 사용한 혼합물의 농도는 단일 독성 시험을 통하여 얻은 각각의 LC50을 기준으로 3:7 (Mixture A), 5:5 (Mixture B), 7:3 (Mixture C)의 비율로 혼합하여 결정하였다. 실험 결과 B[a]P와 HgCl2의 48 h - LC50은 각각 25.75 ㎍ l-1와 3.6 ㎍ l-1로 나타났다. 혼합 독성 평가 결과 Mixture A, B, C에서 TU는 각각 1.06, 0.83, 0.96로 나타났다. 이는 Mixture A, B, C가 CA 모델에 따라 작용함을 보여주며, HgCl2와 B[a]P의 상호작용을 연구하기 위해 CA 모델을 사용하는 것이 적합할 것으로 생각된다. 본 연구는 금속과 PAH류의 혼합 독성 평가를 위한 기초 자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.

흰 쥐의 신경병증성 통증 모델에서 Gabapentin과 Milnacipran의 병용 효과 (The Combined Antiallodynic Effect of Gabapentin and Milnacipran in a Rat Neuropathic Pain Model)

  • Background: Anticonvulsants and antidepressants are adjuvant analgesic drugs that are used widely for treating chronic neuropathic pain syndromes. The combined analgesic effect of gabapentin and milnacipran was investigated with a rat neuropathic pain model. Methods: The rat neuropathic pain model was made by ligating the spinal nerves (L5 and L6). An intrathecal catheter was inserted into the subarachnoid space. Tactile allodynia was tested with the up-down method using von Frey hair. We determined the antiallodynic effect of intraperitoneal (I.P.) and intrathecal (I.T.) gabapentin. The combined effect of I.P. gabapentin (50 mg/kg) and milnacipran (0, 10 and 30 mg/kg) was investigated. Results: Intraperitoneal and intrathecal administration of gabapentin increased the threshold for tactile allodynia (the ED50 was 60.6 mg/kg and $45.5{\mu}g$, respectively). Co-administration of I.P. milnacipran increased the antiallodynic effect of I.P. gabapentin in a dose-dependent fashion. Conclusion: The combined administration of milnacipran and gabapentin may increase the total analgesic effect during treatment of neuropathic pain.

해녀 노인의 건강수준과 건강 관련 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인연구 (Subjective Health and Factors of Health-related Quality of Life in Elderly Haenyo)

  • Purpose: To investigate the subjective health and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Haenyo. Methods: Subjects were 100 elderly Haenyo in Jeju island who belonged to a fishing-village society. Main variables were activities of daily living (ADL), instrumental ADL (IADL), the HRQoL, subjective health, and depression. Subjective health and differences of HRQoL by variables were analyzed by t-test or ANOVA using IBM SPSS Statistics 23. Hierarchical multiple regression was executed to examine the effects of the major factors on the quality of life. Results: The mean age was 69.9 years, the mean period for diving career was 51.5 years, and work hours per month were 37.8. Comorbidity of diseases was 2.74, and the common health problems were osteoporosis and headache/dizziness. HRQoL was significantly different by age (F=4.52, p=.013), education (F=6.10, p=.003), muljil work years (F=3.93, p=.050), depression (t=-3.04, p=.030), subjective health state (F=30.62, p<.01), and degenerative arthritis (F=-2.38, p=.019). In the final model by hierarchical multiple regression, ADL/IADL (${\beta}=.41$, p<.001), depression (${\beta}=-.29$, p<.001), and subjective health (${\beta}=.43{\sim}.51$, p<.001) were significant and explained 63.5% of the total variance of HRQoL. Conclusion: Haenyo have specific health problems different from those of elderly women in general. ADL/IADL, depression and subjective health affected their HRQoL. It is clear that Haenyos' health problems need further study to improve their health.

  • Forecasts of monthly landings of walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma, in Korea were carried out by the seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARlMA) model. The Box - Cox transformation on the walleye pollock catch data handles nonstationary variance. The equation of Box - Cox transformation was Y'=($Y^0.31$_ 1)/0.31. The model identification was determined by minimum AIC(Akaike Information Criteria). And the seasonal ARlMA model is presented (1- O.583B)(1- $B^1$)(l- $B^12$)$Z_t$ =(l- O.912B)(1- O.732$B^12$)et where: $Z_t$=value at month t ; $B^p$ is a backward shift operator, that is, $B^p$$Z_t$=$Z_t$-P; and et= error term at month t, which is to forecast 24 months ahead the walleye pollock landings in Korea. Monthly forecasts of the walleye pollock landings for 1993~ 1994, which were compared with the actual landings, had an absolute percentage error(APE) range of 20.2-226.1 %. Thtal observed annual landings in 1993 and 1994 were 16, 61OM/T and 1O, 748M/T respectively, while the model predicted 10, 7 48M/T and 8, 203M/T(APE 37.0% and 23.7%, respectively).

영산호의 부영양화 평가를 위한 인부하모델의 검토 (A Study on Phosphorus Loading model for Eutrophication Response in the Yongsan Lake)

  • The purpose of this is made an examination of phosphorus loading model for eutrophication response in the Yongsan lake. For the model, we measured the total amount of nutrients derived from the Yongsan river watershed, inflow rate to the Yongsan lake, water quality, and water budget from January to December in 1999. The total amount of precipitation in the Yongsan river watershed was 4,951.7$\times$10$^{6}$ ㎥/y and inflow amount was 2,569.7$\times$10$^{6}$ ㎥/y, therefore the outflow rate of the Yongsan river watershed was 51.9%. The develop loading of total nitrogen was 86,928.1kg/d and that of total phosphorus was 22,007.6kg/d at the Yongsan river watershed, But, as the inflow loading of total nitrogen was 33,962kg/d and the inflow loading of total phosphorus was 2,218kg/d to the Yongsan lake. so each infolw rate was 39.0% and 10.1%. The hydraulic residence time was 34days, total phosphorus loading [L(P)] on the surface area was 23.398g/㎥/y, the hydraulic load( $Q_{s}$) of inflow water was 74.269m/y, the reserve rate of phosphorus in the lake was 0.359, and the settinh velocity of phosphorus was 0.114m/d at the Yongsan lake. ON THE MARTINGALE EXTENSION OF LIMITING DIFFUSION IN POPULATION GENETICS

  • The limiting diffusion of special diploid model can be defined as a discrete generator for the rescaled Markov chain. Choi([2]) defined the operator of projection $S_t$ on limiting diffusion and new measure $dQ=S_tdP$. and showed the martingale property on this operator and measure. Let $P_{\rho}$ be the unique solution of the martingale problem for $\mathcal{L}_0$ starting at ${\rho}$ and ${\pi}_1,{\pi}_2,{\cdots},{\pi}_n$ the projection of $E^n$ on $x_1,x_2,{\cdots},x_n$. In this note we define $$dQ_{\rho}=S_tdP_{\rho}$$ and show that $Q_{\rho}$ solves the martingale problem for $\mathcal{L}_{\pi}$ starting at ${\rho}$.

Application of Response Surface Methodology for Optimization of Lactic Acid Production Using Date Juice

  • Media components, including date juice, sodium acetate, peptone, and $K_{2}HPO_4$, which were screened by Plackett-Burman fractional factorial design, were optimized for lactic acid production from date juice using the response surface method (RSM). Sodium acetate, peptone (p<0.0001), and $K_{2}HPO_4$ (p=0.0029) were highly significant in influencing the lactic acid production. Close correlationship between predicted and experimental values was observed. When the optimum values of the parameters obtained through RSM (25.0 g/l date sugar, 15.0 g/l sodium acetate, 19.1 g/l peptone, and 4.7 g/l $K_{2}HPO_4$) were applied, lactic acid production (22.7 g/l) increased by 50.33%, compared with unoptimized media (15.1 g/l). The subsequent validation experiments confirmed the validity of the statistical model.

  • The present study compared the proteomic characteristics of a low passage number (L-33) and high passage number (H-81) LNCaP cell clone. Marked differences in protein expression were noted in the response of L-33 and H-81 cells to androgens. To investigate if regulation of these proteins was androgen-dependent, expression of the androgen receptor was silenced via small interfering RNA. Consistent with the proteomic data, abrogation of androgen receptor production in H-81 cells resulted in the reversed expression level into L-33 cells compared with non-treated H-81 LNCaP cells. The results clarify the progression into an androgen-independent phenotype.

참나무 바이오차의 인산염 인(PO4-P) 흡착특성 (Adsorption Characteristics of Aqueous Phosphate Using Biochar Derived from Oak Tree)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 농경지에서 유출되는 유거수로부터 부영양화를 감소시키기 위하여 참나무를 원료로 제조한 바이오차의 인산염 인($PO_4-P$) 흡착특성을 구명하는 것이었다. 30 mg/L $PO_4-P$ 용액에 참나무 바이오차 투입량을 4~20 g/L로 변화시키는 조건으로 실험을 수행하였다. $PO_4-P$의 흡착량은 4~14 g/L 범위에서 3배 증가하였고, 제거율은 4~16 g/L 범위에서 28.6% 증가하였다. 최대 단분자층 흡착능($q_m$)과 결합세기(b)는 각각 0.10 mg/g, 0.06 L/mg으로 산출되었다. 또한 Langmuir 흡착등온식의 특징인 무차원상수($R_L$)는 0.37로 0과 1사이로 나타나 Langmuir 흡착등온식을 잘 표현하여 흡착에 용이함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 참나무를 원료로 제조한 바이오차는 농경지 유거수로부터 부영양화를 감소시키기 위한 $PO_4-P$ 흡착제로 용이하다고 판단된다.

  • In this study, aerodynamic analyses have been conducted for 4-Bladed Vertical-Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) configuration and the results are compared with experimental data. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation with LES turbulence model is solved for unsteady flow problems. In addition, the computation results by standard k-${\omega}$ and SST k-${\omega}$ turbulence models are also presented and compared. An experiment model of 4-Bladed VAWT model has been designed and constructed herein. Experimental tests for aerodynamic performance of the present VAWT model are practically conducted using the vehicle mounted testing system. Comparison results between the experiment and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses are presented in order to show the accuracy of CFD analyses using the different turbulent models.
