Studies of $VOC_s$ Emission Rate Calculation in the Kwang-ju Area (광주지역의 $VOC_s$ 배출량산정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted from January to December in Kwang-ju city, 1999. Calculated methods were studied by emission factors in each industrial species. The results was that total emission rate of VOC was calculated at a mount of 12305 ton/year as coating(49.4) > vehicles(27.4) > gasoline vapors(6.1) > petroleum refineries(5.6) > graphic arts(4.4) > road covering(4.1) > dry cleang(3.0%) respectively. In vehicles emission rate, passenger car and taxi were about 2,700 ton/yr(60%) of total vehicle emission(3,300 ton/yr). The amount of building emission rate was about 1,900 ton/yr(30%) of total coating emission 6,083 ton/yr.

Affect of Corrosion Potential and Current Density on Polarization Curves Variations of Polyvinylchloride[II]

  • This study performed experiments for measuring corrosion potential and current density variations in the polarzation curves of polyvinylchloride. The results were examined to identify particular influences affectingthe corrosion potential such as temperature, pH, enzyme, and salt. The lines representing active anodic dissolution were only slightly shifted in the potential direction by temperature, pH, enzyme and salt. The Tafel slope for the anodic dissolution was determined using the polarization effect with varying conditions. The slope of the polarization curves describing the active-to-passive transition region was noticeably shifted in the potential direction. In addition, using the variation in conditions, the best temperature and pH were determined for the corrosion rate, and resistance of corrosion. The second anodic current density peak and maximum passive current density were designated as degraded(IP/I0). The value of IP/I0 was used in measuring the extent of the degradation of the polyvinychloride. The potentiodynamic parameters of the corrosion were obtained using a Tafel plot.

  • This paper presents a high performance and cost effective way by using an FPGA circuit to implement torque controller so that the SRM can operate at high speed. In order to increase the operating speed, we need to implement both the torque and the current controllers by using an FPGA. However, it is difficult to implement all of the torque controller in the FPGA. Moreover, implementation of a time critical part is sufficient for improving the performance. One of the time critical part is the switching angle control. ODSB and OSSB Error Performance Analysis of MMoF Systems in Rician Fading Channel

  • Error performance of two modulation schemes of millimeter-wave over fiber (MMoF) system i.e., optical double side band (ODSB) and optical single side band (OSSB) modulations is analyzed under Rician fading. Bit error rates (BER) of two detection techniques i.e., coherent and noncoherent detection are also compared in Rician fading. In aspect of error performance, ODSB modulation scheme has better BER than OSSB modulation scheme has under Rician fading. On the other hand, OSSB modulation scheme is advantageous in case of considering high bandwidth efficiency and small power degradation. Coherent detection technique is proper in Rician fading, because coherent detection provides more SNR gain whether fading is serious or not. Noncoherent detection can be applied when we need a simple receiver structure.

  • Hydroxlamine effect on the determination of dissolved oxygen by the azide-modified Winkder method and polarography has been studied. It was found that hydroxylamine interference on the dissolved oxygen by the azide-modified Winklet method can be eliminated completely by using permanganate. An inexpensive and convenient polarograph device was constructed. Dissolved oxygen in an air-saturated 0.1 F KCl solution undergoes, independent of hydroxylamine concentrations a two-step irreversible reduction at the dropping electrode the $H_2O_2$ produced in the first step is reduced to $H_2$O in the second. Two waves of equal size result, the first with a half-wave potential (E1/2) at about -0.13 V and the second at about -0.91 V (vs. SCE).

  • This paper suggests a methodology in which control signals for high-level synthesis are generated from SDL specification. SDL is based on EFSM(Extended Finite State Machine) model. Data path and control part are partitioned into representing data operations in the from of scheduled data flow graph and process behavior of an SDL code in forms of an abstract FSM. Resource allocation is performed based on the suggested architecture model and local control signals to drive allocated functional blocks are incorporated into an abstract FSM extracted from an SDL process specification. Data path and global controller acquired through suggested methodology are combined into structural VHDL representation and correctness of behavior for final circuit is verified through waveform simulation.

  • In this paper, a next generation high speed QPSK transmitter is designed based on 1.8${\mu}$m design rule. The designed transmitter supports the MPEG2-TS coded packed data for the DAVIC standard. Transmitter is composed of the convolutional coder, the shortened Reed-Solomon coder, and QPSK modulator. The coded packets are modulated in APSK with an RC filter. Especially, Galois Field multiplier with a standard basis is designed with the pipelined parallel architecture. Also, in the QPSK modulator, the RC filter and mixer are simplified into the ROM table, which can improve the performance of the transmitter. The total number of gates for the implemented baseband transmitter is 26,875.

Clinical manifestation of human bocavirus infection in children (소아 human bocavirus의 임상적 고찰)

  • Purpose : Human bocavirus (HBoV) was recently identified world widely in clinical specimens from infants and children with respiratory tract illness, but the role of HBoV in respiratory tract illnesses is unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency and the clinical manifestation of HBoV in pediatric patients. Methods : We retrospectively investigated 1,777 throat swab obtained between 2005 and 2006 from pediatric in-patients with acute respiratory tract diseases at the Kwang-ju Christian Hospital. The medical records of patients with positive results were reviewed for demographic and clinical data of HBoV infections. Results : HBoV DNA was found in 84 (4.7%) of the 1,777 hospitalized children and the mean age was 19 months. The most common diagnosis were pneumonia (67.8%), bronchiolitis (35.7%). HBoV infections were found year-round, though most occurred in spring and winter months. Conclusion : HBoV is frequently found in hospitalized infants and children with acute respiratory tract diseases in Korea, but an association of HBoV with a distinct respiratory tract manifestation was not apparent. To clarify the clinical significance of HBoV, further evaluation of various age groups and clinical groups is needed.
