The aim of the study is to find out the proper stage of the Korean traditional Mask Drama. For this purpose, the study investigates into the traditional Mask Dramas representative in Korea. It discusses the nature and the form of the stage of them, and through the analysis of the stage, extracts a unique elements for the stage of the traditional Mask Drama.

The mask used in drama has been reappreciated, and it needs profound and systematic studies in order to form the mask to effective use. In research, the aesthestic values in the masks of he latter period of Chosun(the mideighteenth century-the early nineteenth century) was examined through the analysis of traditional drama in accordance with the historical social background. In the later period of Chosun, the active performance of the mask in company with the occurrence of a popular movement caused by people's self-awakening showed a close relationship between the development of the mask and its historical background the moulding characteristic of the mask was analysed before and after the eighteenth century, and regionally in the south and in the middle and the north. The mask express the quality of art before he eighteenth century. It showed, on the other hand, a strong social nature and a touch of satires on society in the south and a religional interest in he middle and the north. This study shows from the viewpoint of a aesthetics that traditional Korean mask during Chosun period had comfortable and voluminous forms with beauty curved lines and colors and rhythm. The aesthetic values in mask as expressed through the aesthetic characteristics have been classified the beauty of nature the beauty of personality, the beauty of traditions. Visual image with these beauty in masks were expressed into fashion illustration of suits and dresses.

The purpose of this study is to produce an essential guideline for making costumes for traditional Korean mask plays by doing a comparative analysis between traditional Korean mask plays and Italian 'Commedia dell'arte'. The results of this study are as follow. The costumes of Korea's mask plays were mainly used to show difference in social status. Analysis showed that costume features, such as color, fabric, and silhouette, were not important to the traits of the character. On the other hand, the costumes in the Italian 'Commedia dell'arte' were used to express the characters' traits. The colors, fabric and silhouettes were exaggerated compared to everyday wear. This enhanced the looks of the character, and it kept on developing with the demands of the culture consumer. This study was performed to support further development and success of traditional Korean mask plays.

This research made an alternative plan about tour experience program development utilizable cooking peculiar of an Andong locality. First currently Andong region have an Andong bass fishing great meeting, an Andong international mask dance, an Andong apple expo, an Andong Korean beef miss choice meeting, an Andong Hahoe folk village dabbling in water festival, but Andong didn't have about food festival. This region will mask a planning about food festival after this. Second, an Andong have a rich tradition of confucianism and buddhism. For example, there are Bongieong temple and Dosan private school. Therefore it is necessary tour experience program development can join of food and culture. Third, in term original locality of mask dance, we can tour experience development program out of the traditional food festival and mask dance performance. Fourth, Andong have a traditional food (a bluff memorial service rice, Andong fermenting rice, Gunjin noodle) and a traditional Korean-style house(sueding, chirye artists). It is necessary the development of board and loading experience program.

한국의 동남부 지역의 탈놀음과 공동체와의 상관성을 따지고 그 존재양상을 살펴보았다. 우리 민속 탈놀음은 전통사회에서 공동체 구성원이 잘 살기 위하여 행하고 즐기는 문화행위였다. 21세기에 탈놀음을 공연하더라도 전통사회의 삶의 양상이 담겨져 있을 뿐 아니라 전통사회의 문제를 제기하고 있다. 그 기법과 기능도 현대의 것이 아니라 전통사회의 유산이다. 탈놀음의 예능과 놀이양상이 비교적 온전히 전승된 것 중에서 문화적 가치가 있는 것을 무형문화재로 지정하여 인위적으로 전승시키고 있다. 한국 동남지역, 즉 경상도지방은 여러 장르의 탈놀음이 전승되었다. 즉, 지역공동체가 행하는 하회별신굿탈놀이 등의 굿탈놀음, 고을공동체가 행하는 통영오광대 등 토박이오광대, 고을공동체가 행하는 수영야류 등 토박이 탈놀음인 들놀음, 밤마리 대광대패 등 연희공동체가 행하던 떠돌이오광대 등이 전승되고 있었다. 광대패, 사당패, 남사당패 등 지역공동체와 관계없이 유랑하는 연희집단은 인적 결합을 한 특수한 공동체다. 이들은 먹고 살기 위하여 연희를 하면서 떠돌며 사는 특수집단이다. 이들은 생산적 활동과 집단적 생활을 공유하는 연희공동체다. 한국 동남지역의 탈놀음이 무형문화재로 지정되어 각광을 받으니까, 합천밤마리오광대, 김해오광대, 마산오광대, 거제영등오광대 등 소위 복원하는 것이 생겨났다. 탈과 대사가 전하고 있어도 과거에 놀았던 사람이 없으면 행위 전승, 즉 예능의 전수가 이루어 질 수가 없으므로 놀이가 전승되었다고 볼 수 없다. 공연물의 동영상을 보고 그대로 모방하여도 예능의 전승이 아니고 복원이다. 이런 복원은 이미테이션(imitation)이다. 과거의 놀이 양상을 알 수 없어서 다른 탈놀음을 참조하여 만들면 창작을 한 것이므로 엄밀한 의미에서 복원이라고도 할 수 없다. 이런 것들은 전통사회의 공동체와는 무관하여 무형문화재의 범주에 들기 어렵다. 그러나 아무리 시대가 지난 예술을 복원 혹은 모방한 것이라도 성행하면 하나의 문화현상으로 보아야 한다. 따라서 이것을 제도적으로 지원할 방안을 강구하여야 할 것이다.

This study aims to develop jacquard fashion masks using traditional patterns and investigates the preference and emotions of consumers for them. Nine patterns were designed with the motifs of plum flower, turtle, and geometric patterns using an Adobe Illustrator program. After that, 20 kinds of jacquard fabrics were developed using those patterns, and prototype masks were made. Furthermore, data were collected using a survey of 231 adult consumers to understand the emotional images evoked by jacquard fashion masks with traditional patterns. The results of the research show that the emotional dimension derived from jacquard fashion masks with traditional patterns consists of seven factors: luxurious image, frugal image, feminine image, oriental image, sporty image, geometrical image, generous image. We found that consumers preferred the M6 with the plum flower pattern as the motif as the most preferred design, while M13 with the geometric pattern as the motif was the lowest preferred.

Air-line mask is an important personal protective equipment for workers working under hazardous surroundings in which a fixed ventilation system is difficult to be installed. If the air-line mask make loud noise, works wearing the mask may be faced with health problems such as noise induced hearing loss(NIHL). The purpose of this study is to introduce a low noisy technology for workers using air-line mask. A traditional type air-line has been improved to an advanced air-line mask with lesser noise. In the mask, air suppling conduits consists of multi tubes are placed inside of the front of the safety helmet. The noise level reduced from 80dB(A) to less than 80dB(A) when measured by KS A 0701 method at Center for Safety Inspection, Testing and Certification for KOSHA. It is suitable for related regulation[Article 35 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act(Test of Personal Protective Equipment)]. While workers working in noise level of over 90dB(A), they may expose to 82dB(A) or less when they wear the advanced masks. This type masks can be an alternative for works suffering from loud noise generated by traditional air-line masks.

This study has been conducted to find out the characteristics of the form and the color of make-up in Oriental traditional plays by comparing the characteristics of Hahoe masque, which is one of Koran traditional plays with those of Chinese Peking Opera and Japanese Noh plays. The object of the study was confined to the make-up of women players. The distinguished characteristics of women make-up of oriental traditional plays are as followings. First, the make-up of woman players in Korean Hahoe masque adopts mask make-up and expresses the mental state of players very realistically. Second, the women players in Chinese Peking Opera wear face make-up and it is beautifully expressed but not exaggerated. Third, most of Japanese Noh players wear face make-up. However, only women players wear mask make-up so that they might express non-realistic mood. Overall, the women players in Korean Ha-hoe masque adopt mask make-up, Chinese Peking Opera face make-up, and Japanese Noh both mask and face make-up.

Among korean traditional culture, TalChum(mask dance) which bears our unique cultural emotion, is about wearing a Tal(korean mask) and dancing, which express our ethnic feeling. The ethnic feeling was expressed into silhouette of hotel uniform which sightseers at home and abroad most frequently visit. This would be the best and the fastest way to show and deliver ethinic feeling of Korea. Fashion design of an uniform would be the best way to express group's unification and attachment. The purpose of this study was to design uniforms, in order to satisfy the property of function, aesthetic points, symbolism to inhere and to differentiate the group from others by using plastic and creative design. This study was meant to induce people to get near to characteristic of Korean culture, using hotel uniform design. Mask's plastic beauty of characteristic Chosun dynasty and express vividly Tal's image with Korean traditional reality was applied on hotel uniform design. By doing so, visitors can come back to the hotel with longtime memory of Korea. The characteristics and the humorous symbolism of Tal were designed and applied to uniform design on collar, bodice, pocket, and sleeves.

An electrode-evaporation technology on both the top and bottom sides of the bare vertical-type single chip separated from the traditional substrate by cooling, was developed for III-nitride vertical-type single chip LEDs with thick GaN epilayer. The post-process of the cooling step was followed by sorting the bare vertical-type single chip LEDs into the holes in a pocket-type shadow mask for deposition of the electrodes at the top and bottom sides of bare vertical-type single chip LEDs without the traditional substrate for electrode evaporation technology for vertical-type single chip LEDs. The variation in size of the hole between the designed shadow mask and the deposited electrodes owing to the use of the designed pocket-type shadow mask is investigated. Furthermore, the electrical and the optical properties of bare vertical-type single chip LEDs deposited with two different shapes of n-type electrodes using the pocket-type shadow mask are investigated to explore the possibility of the e-beam evaporation method.
