  • Diseased tiger puffer (Takijugu rubripes) showed anorexia and severe anemia in the gills. In wet mount preparations Heterobothrium sp. with 4 sets of clamps on the opisthohaptor attached to the gill filaments of the diseased fish. From the drum-shaped filter for filtration of the culturing water and the sediment of aquarium held the diseased fish in the laboratory, their eggs forming long strings through connection of the bipolar filaments could be easily collected. The parasites with 4 pairs of clamps on the opisthohaptor were 2.38mm in length and 0.71 mm in width, but had no isthmus which was separated the opisthohapor from the body proper. The parasites could be easily distinguished from Heterobothrium tetrodonis and H. okamotoi in the absence of distinct isthmus, and resembled H. yamagutii described from the gills of Takifugu xanthopterus in Japan. Their eggs were yellowish spindle in shape and 180-200 x 5-6 Iffil in size, which were pointed at both ends. The eggs were linked to adjacent egg shells like a string of beads by the filaments. Onchomiracidia, ciliated larvae spawned from the eggs were 133 Iffil (120-146 Iffil) x 751ffil (68-80 Iffil) in size. The length of the ciliates was 12 Iffil in the anterior part of the larvae and 14 Iffil in the posterior part. Round or leaf-shaped young parasites attached on the secondary gill lamellae. There was a tendency that most of round smaller parasites without an opisthohaptor were found in the middle part of the gill lamellae while leaf-shaped larger ones with a opisthohaptor attached on the distal part of the gill filaments. Each clamp of mature parasites grasped one secondary gill filament which resulted in bending of the filaments and hyperplasia of the epithelium and mucous cells. In the branchial cavity around the pseudobranch, mature parasites grasped the adjacent ones by means of the clamps, and the epithelia of the branchial cavity around the parasites showed severe irregular hyperplasia and erosion with strongly PAS-positive mucous cells.

  • In the present study, the effect of different water temperature (15, 20, 25, $30^\circ{C}$ and ambient) on survival, growth rate and intermolt period of zoeal and megalopal stage of tiger crab, Orithyia sinica were examined. The survival rate of zoeal and megalopal stages of experimental crab was observed high at $20^\circ{C}$ and ambient water temperature. The growth rate of crab larvae showed temperature-dependent increase. Therefore, the maximum growth rate was recorded at $30^\circ{C}$ temperature-regulated group in both zoeal and megalopal stage. However, temperature-dependent decrease in larval stages of crab during intermolt period has been observed in the present investigation.

  • This study investigated the distribution of scuticociliates in the intestine, spleen, kidney, testis, brain, pericondrial bone and muscle layer of the tiger puffer, Takifugu rubripes, infected with scuticociliates. Scuticociliates were infiltrated in the connective tissues of the outer layer of the intestine, spleen, kidney, testis, brain, pericondrial bone and muscle layer. In brain, membranous tissue and optic lobe cortex separation were accompanied by the infection of scuticociliates. Other internal tissues and organs did not show any lesions expect for heavy deposition of hemosiderin in spleen.

  • A 14 year old female Siberian tiger presented for postmortem examination. A large mass attached to sublumbar area was found to be circumscribing aorta with metastases to mesenteric lymph nodes, uterus, kidney, adrenal gland, lung and thymus. The tumor cells were arranged in clusters or nests separated by well-developed fibrovascular stroma. The individual cells were plump and polygonal with granular eosinophilic cytoplasms and had distinct cell borders. The tumor cells were positive for synaptophysin, chromogranin A and neuron-specific enolase, and negative for cytokeratins, S100 and glial fibrillary acidic protein. The primary tumor was diagnosed as a malignant retroperitoneal paraganglioma.

  • A case of disease was occurred in tiger puffer, Takifugu rubripes, reared in circulated system (water temperature was about $20^{\circ}C$) on land in Korea. Diseased fish showed a unique external sign, the cloudy skin ulcer in various sizes. We investigated the cause of disease, and isolated one pure cultured bacterium, TP01. This had 99.7% homology with Vibrio atlanticus by sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA and rpoA genes. TP01 showed some differences with other reported V. atlanticus strains in the biochemical characteristics as like Voges-Proskauer test and gelatin hydrolysis.

  • drones are used in a variety of fields, including business, leisure, lifesaving, and war. Various research using drones is being conducted in the military. In particular, the use of drones in 『Manned-Unmanned Complex combat performance plan』, powered by various unmanned vehicles deployed in the Army TIGER system, is expected to be a major factor realizing the Army's future combat performance that minimizes damage to ally combat troops while causing maximum damage to the enemy. As the deployment of various systems progresses, combat performance methods utilizing each system are evolving, but there is a lack of research to identify and resolve limitations in the perspective of unmanned vehicle operators. Based on the Ukrainian military's FPV drone combat case, we would like to make suggestions from the operator's perspective on overcoming perspective limitations through the introduction of FPV and the designation of military drone frequency.

  • This study investigated external symptoms, behavior characteristics and the distribution pattern of the scuticociliates in the skin, gill and blood vessel of the tiger puffer, Takifugu rubripes, infected with scuticociliates among tiger puffer cultured. The fish infected with scuticociliates did not show any external symptoms, such as change in body color or swimming behavior, in the early infection stage. However, they showed congestion, erosion, and ulcer on the skin and fin at advanced stages. They showed a turning movement, mainly stayed on the bottom, and swam with their mouths open at the surface of water. Some fish showed a sudden swimming movement of zigzag type. The scuticociliates were ovoid in shape and $20\times40{\mu}m$ in size. The scuticociliates had a contractile vesicle and a caudal cilium that ranged 10-12 ${\mu}m$, and reproduced by binary fission. Therefore the scuticociliates were identified as ciliated, belonging to class Hymenostomatia, order Scuticociliatida in morphogenetic character. The gills infiltrated with scuticociliates showed clubbed gill filament due to hypertrophy of gill lamella. Within the blood vessels, scuticociliates were observed one to ten individuals, depending on diameter of the blood vessels. Some of the scuticociliates were observed to have ingested erythrocytes.

  • The influence of starvation on survival, growth and feeding incidence of larval tiger puffer Takifugu rubripes was investigated for 16 days after let them hatched at the temperature of 16.5~18.5${\circ}C$. The effect by delayed initial feeding on larvace was also studied. Almost all larvae began to be fed from the stage of yolk absorption about 5 days after hatching, in which rearing trials revealed that their survival and growth were influenced by food availability. Survival of unfed larvae, which stated to decrease drastically since the oil globule was exhausted about 9 days after hatching, dropped to 50% and 0% respectively on the 11.5th and 16th day. the difference of growth between fed and unfed larvae came into sight on about 5th day after hatching when the initial feeding was started, and had reduced in proportion to the length of starvation period. The condition factors for the unfed larvae were lower than thost of the fed. Of the larvae which had starved less than 5 days, more than 80% could consume food upon feeding. No fish had the ability in having food after 10 days. It appeared that the turning point of recover for the starving larvae came on 7th or 8th day. Their taking-food ability seemed to be affected by the change in swimming activity which depended on the duration of starvation. For the seed production of tiger puffer, therefore, feeding should be initiated as soon as possible, so as to enhance the production and survival of healthy seeds.
