  • Background and Objective : Atrophic scars are the most common complication of acne. Many modalities are proposed but each does not yield satisfactory clinical outcomes. Among therapeutic modalities of acne scars, subcision is a simple, safe procedure with a different and basic mechanism for correcting atrophic and depressed scars. However, there are few reports about such procedure. This study performed to evaluate the effect of subcision treatment on atrophic acne scar. Methods : Five patients with atrophic acne scars of various types(rolling, superficial and deep boxcar, pitted and icepick) were treated by superficial dermal undermining with 25~27 gauge needles. We used GASC(Global Acne Scarring Classification). Satisfaction degree was asked from the patients. Results and Conclusions : After observing patients satisfaction, comparing case photos and GASC, it can be considered that subcision treatment brings great results when performed on atrophic post acne scars.

The questionnaire was based on priority of usage of the diagnostic indices and tools, and intention to use the personal health record application for treatment of atopic dermatitis in the clinic. Results : Data were collected from 50 Korean medicine doctors. Ninety-six per cent of respondents replied that they were willing to use the personal health record application for treating atopic dermatitis. Among the diagnostic indices related to atopic dermatitis, Korean medicine doctors regarded the following as important in the order of priority, i.e., condition of skin, lifestyle, risk factors, symptoms other than those of skin, past history, family history and medical history, results of tongue, pulse, and abdomen investigation, and constitution. These results did not vary with the purpose of diagnosis, and the results were consistent with those obtained with the intention to use diagnostic. Over 50% of respondents replied that they use immunoglobulin E, scoring atopic dermatitis, and visual analogue scale among the diagnostic tools. Conclusions : Our survey was conducted on clinicians who are the intended users of the personal health record application for the treatment of atopic dermatitis; hence, the results of this study can be helpful for developing a useful personal health record application for atopic dermatitis in the clinic.

The purpose of this study is to review the of external ointment treatment for DFU. Methods : 8 databases such as PubMed, EMBASE, CENTRAL, CNKI, NDSL, RISS, KISS, OASIS including English, Korean and Chinese were searched by structured search strategies that consist of terms as 'diabetic foot', 'diabetic foot ulcer(DFU)' and 'randomized' from January 2001 to January 2021. All randomized controlled trials(RCTs) involving treatment group as external ointment or in combination with conventional treatment were included. Results: A total of 20 RCTs was identified and analyzed. In treatment group, ointment was applied based on conventional treatment. A total of 16 different ointments were used, and the frequency of use was highest in the order of Heat-clearing drug, Blood-activating and stasis-dispelling drug, Tonifying and Replenishing drug and Orifice-opening drug. The most used herbs were in the order of Coptis chinensis Franch., Phellodendron chinense Schneid., Borneolum syntheticum., Angelica sinensis(Oliv.) Diels. In treatment group, a clinically effective effect was obtained compared to the contrast group. • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate acupoints for atopic dermatitis which have similar impact with frequent herbs. Methods : We collected research materials in "The Journal of Korean Medicine Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology" published from Feburary, 2000 to September, 2017. The search terms are 'atopic Dermatitis', 'antiallergic', 'anti-inflammatory', 'antianaphylaxis', 'dermatitis' and we elected experimental researches about herbal medicine. Among the herbal medicine, we extracted frequent herbs using more than 5 times, and categorized through "Herbal Medicine". By Consulting "Principles of Meridians & Acupoints; A Guidebook for College Students", we matched frequent herbs and acupoints. Results : 1. There are 38 frequent herbs for study except Glycyrrhiza uralensis FISCH. because it was used for balance in herbal medicine. Arrange meridians in order of frequency, the most is 'Lung meridian'. Among the organs, the most related one with skin is 'Lung' and 'Lung meridian' can treat skin diseases. 2. We researched acupoints called 'specific acupoints' under elbow, knee because of clinical usage. Exceptively, SP6 and GV20 are not included in 'specific acupoints' but they can be effective for atopic dermatitis treatment. 3. Researching on MEDLINE about frequent herbs and acupoints, there are many studies that acupuncture is effective for reducing pruritus. Therefore, the acupoints which were mentioned in this study can be choosed for atopic dermatitis. Conclusions : We found several applicable acupoints for Atopic Dermatitis. We hope it will be useful in experiment such as randomized controllized trial on Atopic Dermatitis and acupuncture and futhermore in clinic.
