  • In this study we examined the preferences of college life factors for students at Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries(KNCAF). Analytical techniques of unstructured data used opinion mining and text mining techniques, and the results of text mining were visualized as word cloud. And those results were used for statistical analysis of the students' willingness to farm after graduation. The items of the favorable survey consisted of 10 items in 5 areas including university image, self-capacity, dormitory, education system, and future vision. After classifying the emotions of positive and negative in the collected questionnaire, a dictionary of positive and negative was created to evaluate the preference. The items of 'college image' at the time of university support, 'self after 10 years' after graduation, 'self-capacity' and 'present KNCAF' showed high positive emotion. On the other hand, positive emotion was low in the items of 'college dormitory', 'educational course', 'long-term field practice' and 'future of Korean agriculture'. In the cross-analysis of the difference in the will to farming according to gender, farming base, and entrance motivation, the will to farm according to gender and entrance motivation showed statistically significant results, but it was not significant in farming base. Also in binary logistic regression analysis on the will to farming, the statistically significant variable was found to be 'motivation for admission'

  • This is a survey on farming activities of intensive major course's graduates of Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries(KNCAF). Above all, major characteristics of graduates of intensiv major course cases are as follows. First, They make an effort to secure of agriculture competitiveness through an increase in farm size, and then strive for their specialty. Second, They are leading value based agriculture through an innovations in techniques. According to analysis results, intensive major course's examples have the following features: aim at environmentally-friendly agriculture, actively introduction of new technology, continued research activity, community reinvigoration and leading development of agriculture through active network. Finally, This result in various certifications and awards(environment friendly certification, HACCP certification, non antibiotic/pesticide-free certification, organic certification etc.). Therefore, there are necessity of various intitutional and political supports in order that they grow the core people and leader of farm village.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the phenomenon of agricultural management transfer and to present a plan to activate Korean management transfer through institutional consideration. To this end, the domestic and overseas agricultural management transfer system was identified, and an appropriate institutional plan for the country was sought. There are six ways to activate the management transfer system proposed in this study. First, establishment of an agricultural management transfer agency, second, training and utilization of management transfer experts, third, establishment of an agricultural succession certification support institution, fourth, operation of specialized training courses for management transfer, fifth, (local government) linked operation of a farming support center, sixth, agricultural management transfer legislation and securing of budgets. The above agricultural management transfer system is expected to contribute to the advancement of management transfer activation.

  • Research and technology has been transforming the agriculture to agribusiness which encompasses all operations with all the connections from faming per se, to manufacture & distribution of production supplies and farm commodities. Further, with the revolutionary development of information technology in the last two decades, we cannot talk about agribusiness process alone without considering the information technology embedded in the artifact, process, and structure. Despite the emergence of precision agriculture (PA) which is supported by IT based innovations which can not only improve efficiency in farming operations but also contribute to environmental sustainability, the adoption of IT among farmers and in agriculture industry are rather low than expected. Thus, Korean government has been seeking to converge IT into food, agriculture, forestry and fisheries to improve the competency of the agribusiness, and much progress has been made. This paper investigated the status quo of the current IT convergence with Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Korea, and further proposed future policy directions.

  • Vitamin A exerts a broad range of effects on many essential life processes. But, since vitamin A is known to negatively affect the development of adipocytes, extensive research has been conducted to improve marbling score in beef cattle by feeding vitamin A-deficient diets. In Japan, the method of fattening Wagyu cattle using vitamin A-deficient diets has been widely adapted. Recently, the method of feeding vitamin A-deficient diets in Korean native cattle (Hanwoo) has been spread by feed companies and TMR plants. But proper guidelines in feeding vitamin A-deficient diets should be provided, otherwise it can adversely affect the health of cattle. To maximize marbling score, a controlled level of vitamin A in blood needs to be maintained and the proper period for feeding vitamin A-deficient diets should be adapted. This review was conducted to highlight the regulatory effects of vitamins A on adipocyte differentiation, and offer a potential guideline for improving beef quality grades in Hanwoo.

  • Olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus is one of the most target fish for aquaculture and national stock enhancement program in Korea. In order to find more information about hatchery fish stocking for stock enhancement we investigated the sex ratio of wild-caught fish populations which were artificially released into wild seas. The recapture rate was 9.0% to 94.5% in studied areas. The proportion of sex ratio ranged from 7.8% to 64.6% in female and from 34.4% to 92.1% in male respectively. This result suggests that the sex ratio of wild populations might be effected by the released fish. So we need more careful stocking program of the fish to preserve the balance of the sex ratio in the wild population.

  • The present study was conducted to develop a milk filtering system for decreasing somatic cell count (SCC) in bulk tank milk. The pore sizes of the filter were 0.1, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and $0.8{\mu}m$. The rate of SCC reduction of $1^{st}$ grade milk on $0.1{\mu}m$ filter was 76% and significantly higher than other treatments. The rates of SCC reduction for 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and $0.8{\mu}m$ were 35, 32, 18 and 6.4%, respectively. The effects of the milk filtering system on bacterial count and milk fat content were minimal. The milk flow rates per minute between the filter sizes were similar. But discharge pressures were increased as the pore size of the filter decreased. In conclusion, Considering the rate of SCC reduction, discharge pressure and cost, $0.4{\mu}m$ filter could be recommended.

  • Forty-one Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) isolates from feces of pigs and chickens in Korea were screened for the presence of virulence factors. Gelatinase activity (85.4%, 35/41) was the more commonly observed phenotype of virulence in E. faecalis, compared with hemolytic activity (12.2%, 5/41). Thirty-one of 35 (88.6%) gelatinase-positive E. faecalis isolates harbored the gelE and fsrABC genes. A gene encoding for the enterococcal surface protein (Esp) was detected in 24.4% (10/41) of the isolates. All beta-hemolysin-producing isolates harbored the esp gene.
