  • Uigwe Banchado are paintings of court events and royal ceremonies of the Joseon dynasty. The paintings record national events and ceremonial rituals performed by the Joseon royal family, such as marriages, celebrations, enthronements, processions to royal tombs, and archery ceremonies. This record provides a combination of information about the event's appearance, including preparation, procedure, people involved, reproductions worn by the participants, and the items used at that time. Through the realistic depictions painted in the Uigwe Banchado, in particular, one can grasp the scene of events at the time and reproduce the diverse attire worn by participants in the event. Based on 31 representative Uigwe Banchado, 550 knowledge nodes were written. These include 31 royal protocols, 41 attires, 136 clothes, 8 storage facilities, 120 objects, 55 people, 33 places and 83 concepts. The meaningful relationships between each node can be explored via a network graph. Digital illustrations of the 41 attires were created to aid in the understanding of Joseon dynasty royal ceremonial ritual attire.

Firstly, 47 papers were selected from all literature concerning 3D printing technology published in 15 journals of fashion and design since 2013. Afterwards, these papers were analyzed with regard to the frequency, topics or sectors, and purposes or types of studies shown by outcomes. Results were as follows: First, the number of papers on 3D printing technology published in the journals was counted according to the year, which showed that this number increased rapidly after 2015 for about 3 years. Especially in the year 2016, this increase was quite notable. Although a little decrease in this number was found afterwards, a steady increase was highly expected. Out of the 8 journals, Journal of The Korean Society of Fashion Design had the maximum papers. Regarding areas of studies, works on designing and development of products were most common. Finally, regarding the purpose of studies, those suggesting or presenting apparel were predominant. Product items included clothes, shoes, and caps. Studies on caps mostly covered designing the products. Studies on clothes aimed at designing, characteristics of construction, and case study. However, there were very few works on 3D printing technology as an alternative material or composition of clothing.

  • A 39-year-old female patient who had undergone a total thyroidectomy for a papillary thyroid carcinoma underwent a whole body scan with I-131. The I-131 scan was performed 72 hours after administering 185 MBq (5 mCi) of an I-131 solution. The anterior image of the head, neck, and upper chest showed multiple areas of increased uptake in the mediastinal area considering of functional metastasis. However, radioactivity was not evident in the image taken after removing her clothes and muffler. The image obtained after placing the muffler on the pallet showed that the radioactivity was still present. It is well known that artifacts on an I-131 scan can be produced by styling hair sputum, drooling during sleep, chewing gum, and paper or a cloth handkerchief that is contaminated with the radioactive iodine from either perspiration or saliva. This activity might be mistaken for a functional metastasis. Therefore, it is essential that an image be obtained after removing the patient's clothes. In this study, artifacts due to a contaminated muffler on the I-131 scan were found. These mimicked a functional metastasis of the mediastinal area in a patient with a papillary thyroid carcinoma.
