And now it is grown as many as it is designated to local souvenir No.35. The fruit of this plant contains red-purple sap, which is due to be used in coloring clothes. This study aims at confirmation of use possibility as eco-friendly dyeing stuffs on extract from opuntia ficus fruits and contributing to the practical use of natural dyeing. Thus this study was investigated the dyeability of extract from opuntia ficus fruits on the silk fabric. Antioxidants were used ascorbic acid, L-cysteine, prophyl gallete. After dyeing, K/S and dye fastness were measured. The results were as follows; Maximum absorption band of extract from opuntia ficus fruits was 534.5nm. The appropriate dyeing condition was bath ratio 50:1, dyeing temperature $30^{\circ}C$, dyeing concentration 50%, dyeing time 50min, pH 3,concentration of all antioxidants 3%. Addition of antioxidants brought increase of K/S value. And K/S value and dye fastness had the greatest value when ascorbic acid was added

  • This study is aimed to examine the wearing, the clothing satisfaction and the actual purchase conditions of dance sportswear for females in their 20s~50s in order to provide a basic resource for the development of motion functionality and emotionally suitable dance sportswear. As a result, females in their 50s are considered with higher percentages of participation and more than half of them participated in the Latin American sports dance. As for the frequency of activities per week, 1~2 times per week is the largest portion with the main purpose of health and diet for all age levels. Participants with more than 3 years of experience have more proper clothing as compared with those less than 1 year of experience. The most inconvenient point is the rolling up of the upper clothes in the case for two pieces of clothing. The purchase frequency of dance sportswear is once or twice per year which shows no differences for all age levels and the repurchase period is considered to be long. As for price, items less than 50,000 won hold the highest portion which meant that they preferred low priced clothing. When they purchase dance sportswear, more than 80% of the participants consider design and materials as the most important factors.

  • Nettle fiber, a sustainable fiber, was applied to the fabrication of denim to identify changes in textile appearance and formation. For the weaving of nettle denim, nine specimens, distinguished by three kinds of composite use of nettle fiber and three stages of fabrication processes, were used. The kinetic characteristics of the nine specimens were measured by the KES-FB system, and the images of the specimens of finished denim textiles, captured with a CCD Camera, were analyzed. In terms of the extensibility (EM) of nettle denim, all specimens showed post-processing increase, thereby suggesting an easy transformation of the textile as a source material for denim fabric. The effects of washing on the woven formation of denim were also identified. The geometric roughness (SMD), the problematic property of bast-fiber-like nettle fiber, was found to be decreased by washing. In terms of the bending rigidity (B) of the textile, the post-processing shrinking percentage of elastic nettle denim was found to decrease; all specimens that underwent bio-washing only also manifested that post-processing elasticity increased. To improve the draping of nettle denim, a mixed spinning together with washing were found to be advantageous. In terms of the shear stiffness (G), which is closely associated with the appearance of clothes, the formation of textile was improved regardless of the types of processing, including bio-washing and bleach washing.
