  • This study aims to develop new combined sandwich panel with good fire resistant and insulated effects which is used by recycling technique for 2 years projects. At present, new sandwich panel has been successfully developed and got 2 kinds of patent.

  • A compound agent that mixes inert gas agents and halocarbon agents and a complex fire suppression system using the compound agent have been developed. The ultimate goal of this study is to develop the extinguishing agent which doesn't destroy the ozone layer and has low GWP and to develop the fire suppression system. As a result of the test and research for inert gas agents and halocarbon agents, nitrogen and FK-5-1-12 were selected finally and have been tested and studies for three years. Thus, the optimal extinguishing agent and fire suppression system have been accomplished. The performance of the agent and system was tested according to KFI performance test technical standards for gas fire extinguishing system and the fitness of the agent and system for a fire was certified by Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute (KFI).

Implementation of Fire Risk Estimation System for various Fire Situations using Multiple Sensors (다중 센서들을 이용한 다양한 화재 상황의 위험도 추정 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, a fire detection system based on quantitative risk estimation is presented. Multiple sensors are used to build a comprehensive indicator that represents the risk of fire quantitatively. The proposed fire risk estimation method consists of two stages which determines the occurrence of fire and estimates the toxicity of the surveillance area. In the first stage, fire is reliably detected under diverse fire scenarios. The risk of fire is estimated in the second stage. Applying Purser's Fractional Effective Dose (FED) model which quantitates harmfulness of toxic gases, the risk of the surveillance area and evacuation time are calculated. A fire experiment conducted using four different types of combustion materials for the verification of the system resulted in a maximum error rate of 12.5%. By using FED calculation and risk estimation methods, the proposed system can detect various signs of fire faster than conventional systems.

Study on the Diagnostic Indicators of Fire-heat Pattern Identification in Stroke Patients (중풍환자의 화열변증 진단지표에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic indicators which are used for the identification of fire-heat pattern in stroke patients. For evaluation of diagnostic indicator, we analyzed the indicators which are composed of symptoms and signs collected from stroke patients based on the clinical records using case report form (CRF). Patients had a first-ever stroke within 1 month after the onset of stroke. Pattern identification was performed and decided by two independent physicians. Two patient groups that consist of fire-heat pattern and the other patterns were compared to isolate important indicators affecting the fire-heat pattern identification of stroke patients. The 8 indicators among 16 fire-heat pattern indicators were significantly more frequent compared with non fire-heat pattern group. Logistic regression analysis revealed that 5 indicators among fire-heat indicators were significantly sensitive indicators being capable of identification of fire-heat pattern. But two of them was from the indicators of dampness-phlegm pattern and yin deficiency pattern. Therefore, further studies are required for the development of Korean standard indicators of Fire-heat pattern identification.
