Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify bibliographic characteristics and research trends of articles published in the Journal of Korean Clinical Nursing Research from 2009 to 2015. Methods: Descriptive statistics were used to analyze 268 articles. Bibliographic characteristics, appropriateness of methods for quantitative and qualitative studies, and key concepts of articles were analyzed. Results: A clinical nurse was the first author for 184 (66.7%) articles. The number of collaborative works between hospital and university was 184 (68.7%). Study participants were patients (120, 38.1%), nurses (115, 36.5%) and others. IRB approval was given for 156 articles (58.2%). Written informed consent was obtained in 125 articles (46.7%). Quantitative research accounted for 98.6% of the articles but qualitative studies only 4 (1.4%). Types of interventions in the experimental studies were nursing skills (43, 42.6%) and health education (32, 31.7%). Major keywords were nurses, pain, knowledge, intensive care unit, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and stress. Conclusion: Articles in this journal deal with topics and concepts confronted in nursing practice so experimental studies on applicability of nursing interventions were frequently published. Findings in this study indicate that the authors published in the journal contribute to the development of nursing with characteristics distinctive from other nursing journals published in Korea.

Xanthogranulomatous inflammation is a rare benign condition involving various organs. However, its pancreas involvement is very rare. To the best of our knowledge, only 17 cases have been described in the literature. Interestingly, all reported 17 cases due to various causes underwent surgical resection. Here, we present a case of xanthogranulomatous pancreatitis in a 63-year-old man. He presented with epigastric pain and solid mass mimicking ductal adenocarcinoma in the body and tail of pancreas on magnetic resonance imaging. The patient was diagnosed as xanthogranulomatous pancreatitis via endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration. After that, he was followed up and monitored without any surgical treatment. Here, we show imaging findings and serial image changes of xanthogranulomatous pancreatitis for this case.
Objectives This study was conducted to evaluate the therapeutic effect of acupuncture after rotator cuff surgery. Methods Key words such as rotator cuff surgery and acupuncture were searched in 10 databases (Ovid-Medline, Ovid-EMBASE, Ovid-AMED, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], National Digital Science Library [NDSL], Koreanstudies Information Service System [KISS], Oriental medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], KoreaMed, KMBASE), and only suitable randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were selected. Results 6 RCTs were finally selected, and acupuncture showed positive results for pain relief and functional recovery after rotator cuff surgery. However, the analyzed 6 RCTs showed a high overall risk of bias. Conclusions In the future, RCTs with a higher level of evidence on the effect of acupuncture after rotator cuff surgery need to be continuously conducted.
Objectives This study was conducted to evaluate the therapeutic effect of herbal medicine after total knee arthroplasty. Methods Key words such as total knee arthroplasty and herbal medicine were searched in 10 databases (Ovid-Medline, Ovid-EMBASE, Ovid-AMED, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI], National Digital Science Library [NDSL], Koreanstudies Information Service System [KISS], Oriental medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], KoreaMed, KMBASE), and only suitable randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were selected. Results 8 RCTs were finally selected, and herbal medicine showed positive results for pain relief and functional recovery after total knee arthroplasty. However, the analyzed 8 RCTs showed a high overall risk of bias. Conclusions In the future, RCTs with a higher level of evidence on the effect of herbal medicine after total knee arthroplasty need to be continuously conducted.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to improve the knowledge of the low-level laser therapy (LLLT) field and to review research reports on LLLT to understand the current situation with respect to the clinical indication and current research trends. Methods A survey was carried out on the subject of low-level laser therapy to September 2012, using the PubMed search engine. Selected literature was checked by two reviewers and was classified according to the International Classification of Diseases 10th (ICD-10) over 10 years. Results We selected 469 studies in total, of which 142 were case reports, 118 were case-controlled trials, and 209 were randomized controlled trials of LLLT. According to the ICD-10 classification of diseases, the K code and M code being the most common, 399 studies have been published in the last 10 years. This shows that the study and clinical indications of low-level laser therapy have rapidly increased over the past 10 years. Conclusions Low-level laser therapy has been used most frequently with respect to dentistry and pain and musculoskeletal disorders. Recently, interest in and research into LLLT has increased for various diseases. With the establishment of standard conditions for low-level laser therapy, supported by aggressive clinical utilization and systematic clinical research, LLLT will be a very useful treatment and a useful alternative method in many medical fields.
