In this study, we investigated reaction rate constant and activation energy of $CO_2$ lignite gasification by using waste catalysts (I, II, III) and $K_2CO_3$. The gasification experiments were conducted with the lignite which was mixed physically with the catalysts of 1 wt%, 5 wt%, 10 wt% by thermogravimetry with TGA at $800^{\circ}C$, $850^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$. The experimental data was analyzed with kinetic models (VRM, SCM and MVRM). MVRM was the most suitable among the three models. It was confirmed that gasification rate increased with increasing temperature and the activation energies of $CO_2$ gasification of lignite with mixed waste catalysts were lower than that of lignite alone at all temperatures. Especially, 10 wt% of waste catalyst III showed the lowest activation energy, 92.37 kJ/mol, among all lignite-char with catalysts.

In this study, the solution plasma process was utilized with the aim of degrading synthetic dyes in water at atmospheric pressure. The experiments were conducted in a batch-type reactor consisting of a symmetric wire-wire electrode configuration with rhodamine B (RhB) as the target synthetic dye. The effects of the plasma treatment time and initial dye concentration on the RhB degradation were investigated by monitoring the change in absorbance of RhB solutions. The RhB solutions turned lighter in color and finally colorless with prolonged plasma treatment time, indicating the destruction of dye molecules. The RhB solutions were found to have degraded, following the first-order kinetic process. However, for high initial RhB concentrations, another kinetic process or factor seems to play a dominant role at the initial degradation stage. The fitted first-order rate constant decreased as the initial concentration increased. This result suggests that the degradation behavior and kinetic process of the RhB solution strongly depends on its initial concentration. The RhB degradation is considered to be due to a combination of factors, including the formation of chemically oxidative species, as well as the emission of intense UV radiation and high-energy electrons from the plasma. We believe that the solution plasma process may prove to be an effective and environment-friendly method for the degradation or remediation of synthetic dye in wastewater.

This paper proposes the development of a low frequency electronic hammer drive system that is used to prevent scaling or clogging in the hopper process. The electro-mechanical hammering driving method involves the generation of vibration and impact energy. The operation principles of the electromagnetic hammer were considered by parallel/series spring coefficient analysis and the amount of kinetic energy generated was calculated from the product of the equivalent spring constant, which is coupled with the E core and the gap of between the E core and I core. In addition, the Pulsation Driving algorithm was applied to the proposed electromagnetic hammer to obtain the maximizing kinetic energy. This algorithm was then implemented by a logical AND operation process and micro-controller (atmega128) built in functions with a timer interrupt and PWM generation function. The driving circuit of the electromagnetic hammer was designed using the H-bridge type IGBT circuit. The experimental test was performed by usefulness of the developed electromagnetic hammer systems with the acceleration measurement method. The experimental result showed that the proposed system has good kinetic energy generation performance and can be applied to the hopper process.
High voltage impulse (HVI) has been gained attention as an alternative technique that could control the CaCO3 scale problems encountered in water main, pipe, cooling tower and heat exchanger vessels. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of electric field (E) and contact time (t) of HVI on reduction of Ca2+ concentration at two different temperatures of 25℃ and 60℃. A kinetic model on the effect of E and t was investigated too. As the E and t increased, the Ca2+ concentration decreased more than that of the control (= no HVI). The Ca2+ concentration decreased up to 81% at 15 kV/cm at 60℃, which was nearly 2 times greater than the control. With these experimental data-set of reduction of Ca2+ concentration under different E and t, the kinetic model was developed. The relationship between E and t required to reduce the concentration of Ca2+ by 30% was modeled at each temperature. The empirical model equations were; E0.83· t = 60.3 at 25℃ and E0.08· t = 1.1 at 60℃. These equations state the products of En and t is always constant, which means that the required contact time can be reduced in accordance with the increment of E and vice versa.
In this study, the adsorption characteristics of cephalomannine on commercial adsorbent Sylopute were investigated using different parameters such as adsorption temperature, time, and initial cephalomannine concentration for the efficient separation of Taxus chinensis-derived cephalomannine by adsorption process. The Temkin isotherm model showed good fit to the equilibrium adsorption data. The adsorption capacity decreased with increasing temperature and the adsorption of cephalomannine onto Sylopute was physical in nature. Adsorption kinetic data fitted well with pseudo-second-order kinetic mode. According to the intraparticle diffusion model, film diffusion and intraparticle diffusion did not play a key role in the entire adsorption process. The process of cephalomannine adsorption onto Sylopute was exothermic and spontaneous. In addition, the isosteric heat of adsorption was constant even with variation in surface loading indicating homogeneous surface coverage.
Four commercial alumina powders having different particle size of $0.5{\mu}m,\;2.8{\mu}m,\;12{\mu}m,\;and\;45{\mu}m$ were presintered at 1120$^{\circ}C$ for 2h and then lanthanum aluminosilicate glass was infiltrated at 1100$^{\circ}C$ for 2h in the interval of 0.1h to investigate the penetration kinetic of the glass into the alumina preforms. The infiltration distance is parabolic with respect to time as described by the Washburn equation and the penetration rate constant, K, increases with raising the alumina particle size. The strength of glass-alumina composites increases as the alumina particle size reaches to 2.8${\mu}m$ due to the increase in packing, however, decreases with further increasing the alumina particle size. The fracture toughness of the composites rises with increasing the alumina particle size due to the crack bowing and the interaction between crack and alumina particles.
In this study, friction tests were performed in order to investigate the effect of sliding velocity and normal load on the friction characteristics of DLC (a-C:H) and WC/C (a-C:H:W) using a ball-on-disk type friction tester. DLC and WC/C were deposited on AISI 52100 steel balls. Friction tests against carburized SCM 415 Cr-Mo steel disks were carried out under various sliding velocity (0.1, 0.78, 1.56, 3.13, 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mm/s) and normal load (2.4, 4.8 and 9.6 N) conditions while the relative humidity was 20~40 % R.H. and air temperature was $16{\sim}24^{\circ}C$. As results, kinetic friction coefficients of DLC and WC/C were obtained under each test condition. The results show that the kinetic friction coefficients of DLC and WC/C generally increase with the increase in sliding velocity. And, under the same sliding velocity condition, the kinetic friction coefficients are almost constant regardless of normal load. In addition, the kinetic friction coefficients of DLC are lower than those of WC/C under the same test conditions.
In this study, total of 5 different chemical amendments were evaluated for determining kinetic parameters and stabilization efficiency of heavy metals in aqueous phase. Standard solution of Cd and Pb ($100mg\;L^{-1}$) was mixed with various ratio of amendments (1, 3, 5, 10%) and heavy metal stabilization efficiency was monitored for 24hrs. All examined amendments showed over 90% of removal efficiency for both Cd and Pb except zerovalent iron (ZVI) for Cd (43-63%). Based on result of heavy metal stabilization efficiency, it was ordered as $CaCO_3$ > Dolomite > Zeolite > Steel slag > ZVI for both Cd and Pb in aqueous phase. For kinetic study, first order kinetic model was adapted to calculate kinetic parameters. In terms of reaction rate constants (k), zeolite showed the fastest reaction rate (k value from 0.4882 for 1% to 2.0105 for 10%) for Cd and ZVI (k value from 0.2304 for 1% to 0.5575 for 10%) for Pb. Considering reaction rate constant and half life for heavy metal stabilization, it was ordered as Zeolite > $CaCO_3$ > Dolomite > Steel slag > ZVI for Cd and $CaCO_3$ > Dolomite > Steel slag > Zeolite > ZVI for Pb. Overall result in this study can be interpreted that lime containing materials are more beneficial to remove heavy metals with high efficiency and less time consuming than absorbent materials.

$ZrO_2$ is one of the most attractive high dielectric constant (high-k) materials. As integrated circuit device dimensions continue to be scaled down, high-k materials have been studied more to resolve the problems for replacing the EY31conventional $SiO_2$. $ZrO_2$ has many favorable properties as a high dielectric constant (k= 20~25), wide band gap (5~7 eV) as well as a close thermal expansion coefficient with Si that results in good thermal stability of the $ZrO_2/Si$ structure. In order to get fine-line patterns, plasma etching has been studied more in the fabrication of ultra large-scale integrated circuits. The relation between the etch characteristics of high-k dielectric materials and plasma properties is required to be studied more to match standard processing procedure with low damaged removal process. Due to the easy control of ion energy and flux, low ownership and simple structure of the inductively coupled plasma (ICP), we chose it for high-density plasma in our study. And the $BCl_3$ included in the gas due to the effective extraction of oxygen in the form of $BCl_xO_y$ compound In this study, the surface kinetic properties of $ZrO_2$ thin film was investigated in function of Ch addition to $BCl_3/Ar$ gas mixture ratio, RF power and DC-bias power based on substrate temperature. The figure 1 showed the etch rate of $ZrO_2$ thin film as function of gas mixing ratio of $Cl_2/BCl_3/Ar$ dependent on temperature. The chemical state of film was investigated using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The characteristics of the plasma were estimated using optical emission spectroscopy (OES). Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) was used for elemental analysis of etched surface.

Temperature dependence of kinetic constants in the anaerobic acidogenesis was investigated using anaerobic chemostat-type reactor. Glucose was used as a substrate in this experiment. Temperature ranging from 15 to $30^{\circ}C$ were studied. The saturation constant$(k_s\upsilon)$ and growth yield(Y) decreased with increasing temperature, while the maximum specific substrate utilization rate$(\upsilon_{max})$ increased. A temperature correction factor$(Q_{10})$ values of the substrate utilization rate and bacteria growth rate were the range from 1.3 to 2.2 and 1.5 to 2.2, respectively. The growth yield(Y) for the acidogenesis process was less sensitive to temperature changes than the maximum specific substrate utilization rate$(\upsilon_{max})$. The simulation model of the relationship between the substrate and sludge retention time(SRT) at the temperature range of 20 to $30^{\circ}C$ is obtained as the following ; $1/SRT={(6.53){\cdot}(1.038)^{T-20}{\cdot}(S/X)}/{(1.38){\cdot}(0.983)^{T-20}+(S/X)}$.
