In-plane Vibration Analysis of Rotating Cantilever Curved Beams

  • Equations of motion of rotating cantilever curved beams are derived based on a dynamic modeling method developed in this paper. The Kane's method is employed to derive the equations of motion. Different from the classical linear modeling method which employs two cylindrical deformation variables, the present modeling method employs a non-cylindrical variable along with a cylindrical variable to describe the elastic deformation. The derived equations (governing the stretching and the bending motions) are coupled but linear. So they can be directly used for the vibration analysis. The coupling effect between the stretching and the bending motions which could not be considered in the conventional modeling method is considered in this modeling method. The natural frequencies of the rotating curved beams versus the rotating speed are calculated for various radii of curvature and hub radius ratios.

  • 최근에는 임베디드 시스템의 규모가 점차 커지고, 시스템이 노드단위로 분산되어 협업을 통한 작업을 하는 경향이 많아져, 시스템 디자인에 객체지향적인 패러다임이 필요하게 되었다. TMO 모델은 90년대 초반부터 U.C Irvine의 Kane.Kim 등에 의해 연구되고 있는 실시간 객체모델이다. TMO 모델은 SvM과 SpM의 두가지 메소드 타입으로 실시간 클럭에 의한 수행이나, 이벤트 발생에 의한 메소드 수행을 지원함으로써 분산 실시간 시스템의 설계를 용이하게 해준다. 본 논문에서는 TMO 모델에서의 향상된 채널 기반의 객체 간 통신 구조인 RMMC를 MicroC/OS-II에 맞게 적용하는 것에 대해 제안하고자 한다.

  • A number of research groups and companies have succeeded in employing various SLS schemes to create low defect-density Si films on glass substrates for making high performance TFTs. In this paper, we first point out that SLS can be utilized to just as effectively handle crystallization of thin Si films on polymer substrates, and then present preliminary results on high-performance circuits that are built using the materials.

  • In order to control a dynamic gait of quadrupedal walking robot, the equations of motion of the whole mechanism are required. In this research, the equations of motion are formulated analytically using Kane's dynamic approach. As a dynamic gait model, a trot gait has been adopted. The degree of freedom of whole mechanism could be reduced to 7 by idealizing the kinematic feature of the trot gait. Using the equations of motion formulated, the results of the redundant-joint torque analysis and the simulation of dynamic walking motion are presented.

  • It is reported that we are facing the serious environment pollution difficulties such as acid rain, green house effects, etc. The gaseous matter CO, NOx, SOx, VOCs which are regarded as main factors for these current pollutions are mainly emitted from power plants and vehicles. Therefore several leading countries are regulating the related laws strictly, especially exhaust emissions from a Diesel engine without an after treatment device. The Objective of this study is to find out NOx removal characteristics focused on emissions of a Diesel engine using radical at each engine speed and load. It is generated from outer air and put into a mixing chamber in the end of exhaust line. In addition, the optimum temperature condition to activate reaction by radical is experimentally carried out. Concentration of exhaust emissions is analyzed from the gas anlayzer(KaneMay) and FTIR to estimate by-products.

Computational Method for Dynamic Analysis of Constrained Mechanical Systems Using Partial Velocity Matrix Transformation

  • A computational method for the dynamic analysis of a constrained mechanical system is presented in this paper. The partial velocity matrix, which is the null space of the Jacobian of the constraint equations, is used as the key ingredient for the derivation of reduced equations of motion. The acceleration constraint equations are solved simultaneously with the equations of motion. Thus, the total number of equations to be integrated is equivalent to that of the pseudo generalized coordinates, which denote all the variables employed to describe the configuration of the system of concern. Two well-known conventional methods are briefly introduced and compared with the present method. Three numerical examples are solved to demonstrate the solution accuracy, the computational efficiency, and the numerical stability of the present method.

  • Many literatures, so far, have concentrated on approaches employing dependent coordinates set resulting in computational burden of constraint forces, which is needless in many cases. Some researchers developed methods to remove or calculate it efficiently. But systematic generation of the motion equation using independent coordinates set by Kane's equation is possible for any closed loop system. Independent velocity transformation method builds the smallest size of motion equation, but needs practically more complicated code implementation. In this study, dependent velocity matrix is systematically transformed into independent one using dependent-independent transformation matrix of each body group, and then motion equation free of constraint force is constructed. This method is compared with the other approach by counting the number of multiplications for car model with 15 d.o.f..

  • OO RT programming is a technology expected to flourish in this quarter of the 21st century. Currently, its youthfulness is indicated by the insufficient availability of the support middleware and the associated API, let alone language compilers. The middleware providing fault-tolerant execution support is in its infancy. The advances in OO RT distributed programming will also enable large-scale RT simulations. The research community dealing with this technology area is expected to grow continuously for foreseeable future and consequent accelerations of the technology advances will in turn accelerate the development of many new types of sophisticated RT DC applications as well as realization of advanced types of ubiquitous computing societies.

Compact Current Model of Single-Gate/Double-Gate Tunneling Field-Effect Transistors

  • A compact current model applicable to both single-gate (SG) and double-gate (DG) tunneling field-effect transistors (TFETs) is presented. The model is based on Kane's band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) model. In this model, the well-known and previously-reported quasi-2-D solution of Poisson's equation is used for the surface potential and length of the tunneling path in the tunneling region. An analytical tunneling current expression is derived from expressions of derivatives of local electric field and surface potential with respect to tunneling direction. The previously reported correction factor with three fitting parameters, compensating for superlinear onset and saturation current with drain voltage, is used. Simulation results of the proposed TFET model are compared with those from a technology computer-aided-design (TCAD) simulator, and good agreement in all operational bias is demonstrated. The proposed SG/DG-TFET model is developed with Verilog-A for circuit simulation. A TFET inverter is simulated with the Verilog-A SG/DG-TFET model in the circuit simulator; the model exhibits typical inverter characteristics, thereby confirming its effectiveness.
