  • In order to identify the protein(s) secreted into culture medium by the sool-l/retl-l mutation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, proteins from the culture medium of cells grown at permissive (28$^{\circ}C$) and non-permissive temperatures (37$^{\circ}C$), were analyzed. Comparison of protein bands separated by SDS-PAGE identified a prominent band of 47-kDa band from a mutant grown at 37$^{\circ}C$. N-terminal amino acid sequencing of this 47-kDa protein showed high identity with enolases 1 and 2. Western blot analysis revealed that most of the cell wall-bound enolase was released into the culture medium of the mutant grown at 37$^{\circ}C$, some of which were separated as those with lower molecular weights. Our results, presented here, indicate the impairment of cell wall enolase biogenesis and assembly by the sool-l/retl-l mutation of S. cerevisiae.

  • Intra-cranial aneurysm can be incidental findings in patients with pituitary adenomas, and are usually located outside the pituitary region. However, the coexistence of intrasellar (not intracranial) aneurysms with pituitary adenomas is extremely rare. We report a patient with an incidental superior hypophygeal aneurysm embedded within a non-functional pituitary adenoma which was treated by transsphenoidal surgery after endovascular coil embolization.

  • Ependymal cysts are neuroepithelial cysts, typically found in the central white matter of the temporoparietal and frontal lobes. Clinical symptoms usually result from neurological deficits referable to these regions, from seizures, and chronic headaches associated with increased intracranial pressure. We describe here a case of ependymal cyst on the right fronto-parietal lobe, presenting with tremor and weakness. The cyst was resected surgically and presurgical neurological abnormalities were improved. An exploratory surgery with establishment of an adequate route of drainage and histological examination of the cyst wall are mandatory in the management of patients with a progressive and symptomatic intraparenchymal cyst.

  • Most of Electroencephalography(EEG) systems currently being used in hospitals don't support a standardized communication protocol for the exchange of orders, data and results. ASTM: E1467 protocol was proposed to expedite the EEG data exchange between different EEG systems and eventually between hospitals. In this paper, we present an Electroencephalography Information System using ASTM: E1467 protocol, with which patient registration, orders, interpretation, and review can be performed electronically. The system is designed using a component-based methodology. Most of the components are written in Visual C++ and Visual Basic. JAVA is also used to implement some components.

  • An underground research facility (KURF) is under construction at KAERI for the in situ studies related to the validation of a HLW disposal system. For the safe construction and long-term researches at KURF, mechanical stability of the facility should be evaluated. In this study, 3D mechanical stability analysis using the rock mass properties determined from various in situ as well as laboratory tests was carried out. From the analysis, it was possible to predict the rock deformation, stress concentration, and plastic zone developed before and after the excavation. A test blasting was performed to characterize the site dependent dynamic response, which can be used for the prediction of the blasting impact on the facilities in KAERI.

  • We examined the effect of strip visual stimulation pattern on postural balance control. It was performed by using motor driven clothe panel as visual stimulation. We also investigated the usefulness of HMD in the postural balance rehabilitation training system from the view of reducing the scale of experimental system. Our result showed that strip visual pattern was effective on postural balance control. It also indicated that HMD might be applied to clinical use as a new postural balance training system.

  • This paper presents an newly developed MPPT method for PV-SPE system. To chase maximum power point at every moment under conventional MPPT control method, voltage and current coming out from PV-cell are needed to be feedbacked. In this newly developed Maximum Current Control method, however, current flowing into SPE cell is only one considerable factor. To verify the theory, simulated results are compared and shown in this paper. Authors are sure that it is the most useful method to the maximum power from PV to SPE with only a feedback of SPE input current.

  • On the purpose of increasing resonant frequency without sacrificing quality factor as well as much decreasing dimensions, corrugated micro beam resonator based on polycrystalline 3C-SiC films is the applicable solution. In this work, appropriate corrugated structure is suggested to increase resonant frequency of resonators. Micro beam resonators based on 3C-SiC films which have a two-side corrugation along the length of beams were simulated by finite element method and compared to a same-size flat rectangular. With the dimension of 36x12x0.5 ${\mu}m^{3}$, the flat cantilever has resonant frequency of 746 kHz. Meanwhile, with this size but corrugation width of 6 ${\mu}m$ and depth of 0.4 ${\mu}m$, the corrugated cantilever reaches the resonant frequency at 1.252 MHz.

  • Tongue tumors of pediatric patients are the most common soft tissue tumor of pediatric oral and maxillofacial tumors. There are many kind of pediatric tongue lesions such as hemangioma, lymphangioma, papilloma, and cyst. Most of these lesions are benign, but malignant tumors of tongue may be occurred. Therefore, malignancy should be ruled out. Sometimes, tongue lesions are present with dyspnea, dysphagia, dysarthria, bleeding, or cosmetic problem. We experienced a case of chronic inflammatory mass on posterior 1/3 of the tongue in 4 month old female patient. Swallowing difficulty and respiratory distress symptom occurred because of tongue mass effect. The tongue mass was confirmed as granulation tissue by microscopic examination. After excision of tongue mass, she had no problem with swallowing and breathing.
