Analysis and Design of Jumping Robot System Using the Model Transformation Method

  • This paper proposes the motion generation method in which the movement of the 3-links leg subsystem in constrained to slider-link and a singular posture can be easily avoided. This method is the realization of jumping control moving in a vertical direction, which mimics a cat's behavior. To consider the movement from the point of the constraint mechanical system, a robotics system for realizing the motion will change its configuration according to the position. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is illustrated by simulation and experimental results.

  • Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) is one of the leading advanced energy conversion technology for the use in transport. It generates water droplets through the catalytic processes and dispenses the water through the gas-flowed microchannels. The droplets in the dispensing microchannel experience g-forces from different directions during the operation in transport. Therefore, this paper reviews the computational modelling topics of droplet dynamics behaviour specifically for three categories, i.e. (i) the droplet sliding down a surface, (ii) the droplet moving in a gas-flowed microchannel, and (iii) the droplet jumping upon coalescence on superhydrophobic surface; in particular for the parameters like hydrophobicity surfaces, droplet sizes, numerical methods, channel sizes, wall conditions, popular references and boundary conditions.

Experimental Observation of New Jumping Phenomena in the Pendulum System and Its Analytical Approach (진자 시스템에서의 새로운 도약 현상의 실험적 관측과 이론적 해석)

  • This paper introduces a newly designed pendulum system that enables the more accurate boservation of dynamic behaviour arising from both horizontal and vertical(i.e. two dimension) excitation. First, experiments were carried out to examine the frequency responses of the devised pendulum system. Interestingly, experimental results for the three excitation angles of 22, 32 and 48 degree show 'new' jump phenomena. For the further understanding of these phenomena, experimental investigationhas been made to identify the equation of motion of the pendulum system from experimental data. This attempt has revealed that the viscous, coulomb and aerodynamic damping factors are involved in the equation of motion. By applying the Ritz averaging method to the equation, it becomes apparent that the jumping phenomena of the pendulum system in this work is more theoretically understood.

  • Floor impact noises in apartment buildings have been investigated as they are most annoying in living environment. Several experiments were undertaken to compare perceived noisiness of floor impact noises generated by bang and tapping machine along with children's jumping and running. Results show that bang noise is more annoying than tapping noise and floor impact noise generated by children is less annoying than the noise generated by machine. The floor impact noise generated by children's jumping and running corresponds well with the bang-machine noise in terms of loudness, unbiased annoyance, ${\Phi}$$\_$0/ and IACC. The noise generated by children is somewhat different from machine noise; in spatial impression the real noise is similar to tapping-machine noise but is less annoying that the machine noises.

MULTIPLE SOLUTIONS RESULT FOR THE MIXED TYPE NONLINEAR ELLIPTIC PROBLEM

  • We obtain a theorem that shows the existence of multiple solutions for the mixed type nonlinear elliptic equation with Dirichlet boundary condition. Here the nonlinear part contain the jumping nonlinearity and the subcritical growth nonlinearity. We first show the existence of a positive solution and next find the second nontrivial solution by applying the variational method and the mountain pass method in the critical point theory. By investigating that the functional I satisfies the mountain pass geometry we show the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions for the equation.

  • We investigate the number of the solutions for the elliptic boundary value problem. We obtain a theorem which shows the existence of six weak solutions for the elliptic problem with jumping nonlinearity crossing three eigenvalues. We get this result by using the geometric mapping defined on the finite dimensional subspace. We use the contraction mapping principle to reduce the problem on the infinite dimensional space to that on the finite dimensional subspace. We construct a three dimensional subspace with three axis spanned by three eigenvalues and a mapping from the finite dimensional subspace to the one dimensional subspace.

  • Thomson's jumping ring was first exhibited by Elihu Thomson in 1887 and modified to include the floating variation by John A. Fleming in 1890. This vivid demonstration of electromagnetic induction is still used in physics classrooms to illustrate Faraday's and Lenz's laws and is the basis for linear actuators for sorvo-mechanical purpose as well as induction heating and rail guns. The jumping ring apparatus of the type described in this study is used to demonstrate and educate the effects of electromagnetic induction. To verify control algorithm, a sensor system and a data control/measurement system is required. The sensor system consist of photo-interrupted and encode circuit which is designed to take voltage according to the position of ring.

A Study on the Improvement of Dynamic Characteristics of the Motor Stator Coil Winding Machine (모터 고정자 코일 권선기의 동특성 개선 연구)

  • In this paper, we performed the improvement study for the dynamic characteristics enhancement of the motor stator coil vertical winding machine. The dynamic characteristics improvement was done by means of the optimized design and the weight reduction of the flyer configuration, modified design of the servo control system for the flyer and the former actuation, and the development of jump timing digital circuit for the reduction of former jumping error. As the results, the maximum winding speed pattern of the developed machine was attained up to 3000rpm and also reduced the jumping error. In conclusion, domestic design technology for manufacturing the motor coil vertical winding machine was established through this study.

Comparison of Standard Floor Impact Sources with a Human Impact Source (바닥충격음 측정용 표준충격원과 실충격원의 특성 비교)

  • The characteristics of the four standard floor impact sources (impact ball, bang machine, tapping machine, modified tapping machine) and a human impact source (jumping children) were investigated. First, the mechanical impedance of each source were evaluated. Then, the impact force exposure level of each source were measured. The results showed that fundamental frequency and impedance produced by the impact ball are the most similar to those of the human impact source. The frequency characteristics of the impact ball were most similar to those of jumping children. Consequently, the impact ball more accurately reproduces human impact compared to the other standard impact sources. Therefore, the impact ball should be considered as the reliable impactor in evaluating floor impact noise.
