  • In order to prepare for the future warfare environment, which requires a faster operational tempo, it is necessary to utilize the fourth industrial revolution technology in the field of military operations. This study propose a methodology, 'machine learning based dynamic targeting', which can contribute to reduce required man-hour for dynamic targeting. Specifically, a decision tree algorithm is considered to apply to dynamic targeting process. The algorithm learns target prioritization patterns from JIPTL(Joint Integrated Prioritized Target List) which is the result of the deliberate targeting, and then learned algorithm rapidly(almost real-time) determines priorities for new targets that occur during ATO(Air Tasking Order) execution. An experiment is performed with artificially generated data to demonstrate the applicability of the methodology.

  • Reliable detection of primary user activity increases the opportunity to access temporarily unused bands and prevents harmful interference to the primary system. By extracting a global decision from local sensing results, cooperative sensing achieves high reliability against multipath fading. For the effective combining of sensing results, which is generalized by a likelihood ratio test, the fusion center should learn some parameters, such as the probabilities of primary transmission, false alarm, and detection at the local sensors. During the training period in supervised learning, the on/off log of primary transmission serves as the output label of decision statistics from the local sensor. In this paper, we extend unsupervised learning techniques with an expectation maximization algorithm for cooperative spectrum sensing, which does not require an external primary transmission log. Local sensors report binary hard decisions to the fusion center and adjust their operating points to enhance learning performance. Increasing the number of sensors, the joint-expectation step makes a confident classification on the primary transmission as in the supervised learning. Thereby, the proposed scheme provides accurate parameter estimates and a fast convergence rate even in low signal-to-noise ratio regimes, where the primary signal is dominated by the noise at the local sensors.

  • Current AI technology is improving the quality of life by using machine learning based on data. When using machine learning, transmitting distributed data and collecting it in one place goes through a de-identification process because there is a risk of privacy infringement. De-identification data causes information damage and omission, which degrades the performance of the machine learning process and complicates the preprocessing process. Accordingly, Google announced joint learning in 2016, a method of de-identifying data and learning without the process of collecting data into one server. This paper analyzed the effectiveness by comparing the difference between the learning performance of data that went through the de-identification process of K anonymity and differential privacy reproduction data using actual financial data. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy of original data learning was 79% for k=2, 76% for k=5, 52% for k=7, 50% for 𝜖=1, and 82% for 𝜖=0.1, and 86% for Federated learning.

  • Face detection using AdaBoost algorithm is one of the fastest and the most robust face detection algorithm so many improvements or extensions of this method have been proposed. However, almost all previous approaches deal with only frontal face and suffer from limited discriminant capability for inclined face because these methods apply the same features for both frontal and inclined face. Also conventional approaches for detecting inclined face which apply frontal face detecting method to inclined input image or make different detectors for each angle require heavy computational complexity and show low detection rate. In order to overcome this problem, a method for detecting inclined face using JointBoost is proposed in this paper. The computational and sample complexity is reduced by finding common features that can be shared across the classes. Simulation results show that the detection rate of the proposed method is at least 2% higher than that of the conventional AdaBoost method under the learning condition with the same iteration number. Also the proposed method not only detects the existence of a face but also gives information about the inclined direction of the detected face.

  • The character motion control based on physics simulation using reinforcement learning continue to being carried out. In order to solve a problem using reinforcement learning, the network structure, hyperparameter, state, action and reward must be properly set according to the problem. In many studies, various combinations of states, action and rewards have been defined and successfully applied to problems. Since there are various combinations in defining state, action and reward, many studies are conducted to analyze the effect of each element to find the optimal combination that improves learning performance. In this work, we analyzed the effect on reinforcement learning performance according to the state representation, which has not been so far. First we defined three coordinate systems: root attached frame, root aligned frame, and projected aligned frame. and then we analyze the effect of state representation by three coordinate systems on reinforcement learning. Second, we analyzed how it affects learning performance when various combinations of joint positions and angles for state.

  • Purpose:The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-controlled knowledge of result (KR) versus the yoked KR on learning of knee joint proprioception. Methods:Forty volunteer subjects (20 men and 20 women) were randomly assigned to each four groups: 1) self-controlled KR in open kinematic chain, 2) yoked KR in open kinematic chain, 3) self controlled KR in close kinematic chain, and 4) yoked KR in close kinematic chain. The difference between the angle of position and reproduction angle was determined as a proprioception error and measured using an angle reproduction test. The subjects in self-controlled groups were provided with feedback whenever they requested it, whereas the subjects in yoked groups were not provided with feedback. The data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA. Results:The proprioception errors in close kinematic chain groups decreased significantly compared with those in close kinematic chain groups(p<.05). The proprioception errors in the self-controlled group decreased significantly compared with those in yoked groups during acquisition and retention test(p<.05). Conclusion:Self-controlled knowledge of result during open kinematic chain movement is considered to be a good method on motor learning.

  • The requirements for powerful computing capability, high capacity, low latency and low energy consumption of emerging services, pose severe challenges to the fifth-generation (5G) network. As a promising paradigm, mobile edge networks can provide services in proximity to users by deploying computing components and cache at the edge, which can effectively decrease service delay. However, the coexistence of heterogeneous services and the sharing of limited resources lead to the competition between various services for multiple resources. This paper considers two typical heterogeneous services: computing services and content delivery services, in order to properly configure resources, it is crucial to develop an effective offloading and caching strategies. Considering the high energy consumption of 5G base stations, this paper considers the hybrid energy supply model of traditional power grid and green energy. Therefore, it is necessary to design a reasonable association mechanism which can allocate more service load to base stations rich in green energy to improve the utilization of green energy. This paper formed the joint optimization problem of computing offloading, caching and resource allocation for heterogeneous services with the objective of minimizing the on-grid power consumption under the constraints of limited resources and QoS guarantee. Since the joint optimization problem is a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem that is impossible to solve, this paper uses deep reinforcement learning method to learn the optimal strategy through a lot of training. Extensive simulation experiments show that compared with other schemes, the proposed scheme can allocate resources to heterogeneous service according to the green energy distribution which can effectively reduce the traditional energy consumption.

  • In this paper, we propose a deep learning-based person re-identification method using a three-dimensional RGB-Depth Xtion2 camera considering joint coordinates and dynamic features(velocity, acceleration). The main idea of the proposed identification methodology is to easily extract gait data such as joint coordinates, dynamic features with an RGB-D camera and automatically identify gait patterns through a self-designed one-dimensional convolutional neural network classifier(1D-ConvNet). The accuracy was measured based on the F1 Score, and the influence was measured by comparing the accuracy with the classifier model (JC) that did not consider dynamic characteristics. As a result, our proposed classifier model in the case of considering the dynamic characteristics(JCSpeed) showed about 8% higher F1-Score than JC.

  • A vibration response-based detection system was used to investigate the adhesive areas of single-lap joints using a nonlinear transformation approach for deep learning. In industry or engineering fields, it is difficult to know the condition of an invisible part within a structure that cannot easily be disassembled and the conditions of adhesive areas of adhesively bonded structures. To address these issues, a detection method was devised that uses nonlinear transformation to determine the adhesive areas of various single-lap-jointed specimens from the vibration response of the reference specimen. In this study, a frequency response function with nonlinear transformation was employed to identify the vibration characteristics, and a virtual spectrogram was used for classification in convolutional neural network based deep learning. Moreover, a vibration experiment, an analytical solution, and a finite-element analysis were performed to verify the developed method with aluminum, carbon fiber composite, and ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene specimens.
