  • The aim of this study was biomechanical analysis of shelf operation in patients with dysplastic hip joint by finite element contact analysis. Two dimensional CT images were used to construct the finite element models to analyze the contact pressure, and the 3D expansion of the Ninomiya's method was used in the calculation of the resultant force in the hip joint. The surgery recovered the center-edge angles to the normal anatomical range and increased the contact areas in two patients. The maximum contact pressures and von-mises stresses were decreased. The present study provides the biomechanical guideline of optimal surgical parameters to maximize the surgical efficiency and the clinical outcomes in dysplastic hip joint using the shelf operation.

  • Though there are many kinds of type in the expansion joint of bridges, Transflex joint was usually used from 1970's to 1980's. But it made of rubber is needed to exchange to new one often because of the breakage by wheel load. This study performed the safety estimation which is to exchange the transflex joint to finger joint kept the part of situ-cast-concrete. The standard of finger joint is same as that of transflex joint, we investigated the safety of finger joint with experimental results and FEM (Finite element method) analysis.

  • Joint marketing defines marketing activity which aims scale economies, quality improvement, and reducing marketing costs, through regrouping and sharing roles between farmers, regional cooperative, and national agriculture cooperative federation. As a case study for joint marketing, an empirical analysis was done for strawberry joint marketing in Nonsan city and future directions for joint marketing were deduced.

  • The shear strength of rock discontinuities is very important in many rock engineering project including analysis of tunnel and slope. But shear strength of rock that acquired through discontinuity shear test is different from soil shear test and more complex. Shear strength is effected by the factors which are various, but it is the best influence of filling material and joint roughness. In this research, we studied shear strength characters of natural joint of phillite that was placed importance on joint roughness, JRC is less low than 8.

  • In substitution of beam-nonlinear spring model for real-car, it may have errors due to complicated characteristics of joint and overestimation of joints stiffness. In this research, a method for the joint modeling was suggested by nonlinear static and dynamic analyses of beam and shell joint models and verified by the application of accomplished joint modeling method to simplified full car model. In consequence, modified simplified full car model was improved in local acceleration and rigid wall force. Finally, the frontal crash analyses with the dummy were established and the accelerations of accelerations of head, chest and pelvis had good agreements with those of shell model.

  • Low vibration characteristics of a vehicle are mainly influenced by the local stiffness of the joint structure beam section. The method of substituting equivalent beam element to spring element for the joint is presented. Formation process of the equivalent beam joint modeling is described in terms of key section properties. To get required dynamic characteristics section properties of the equivalent beam element are set to design variables. The study shows that the equivalent beam joint model can be effectively used for low frequency vibration analysis of a vehicle.

  • This paper presents rational modeling and analysis method for complex structures with various structural joints. For modeling of structural joint, a general modeling technique is newly proposed by flexibility influence coefficient and inverse of flexibility matrix and static reduction concept which is applied to the retained DOFs(degrees of freedom) of detailed finite element model of struction joints. By this method, joint model with contact surface. which can not be reduced by the general reduction theory such as Guyan reduction theory ,can be reduced effectively. And in this method, the nonlinearity of the contact surface can be linearized within a proper range and the boundary effects of joint region can be excluded. Using the proposed method, screwed joint, glued joint and bolted joint are analyzed. And the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experiments.

  • This document is a experimental study on fatigue life of brace mounting weld joint. A brace is used to put sub-frame together on the main frame with high strength bolts. It has low fatigue life so a patch is in need for improving a fatigue characteristics of welded joint in brace mounting This paper presents the most pertinent patch size for truck. For this, a critical stress is computed at the point of fatigue crack occurred on truck frame by finite Element Analysis. Using by this critical stress. Designers are able to determin whether fatigue crack is occurred and are able to select a pertinent patch type. And then, with a selected patch type, structural joint stiffness was estimated to compare to the conventional and other patch type or brace mounting Finally, fatigue test were performed to prove a suitability of selected prototype compare with the conventional and other patch type or brace mounting.

  • The objective of this work is to develop a criterion for predicting the failure strength of the joints bonded by ductile adhesives. To obtain a criterion, first, fracture tests were carried out for T-peel joint and Single-lap joint with widely differing joints geometries. Then using the fracture loads obtained at tests, the finite element analysis were performed, in which the stresses in the adhesive bonds were calculated in great detail. After examining four epoxy adhesives, it is concluded that the fracture of adhesively bonded joint occurs when the maximum of the ratio of the mean to effective stresses exceeds a constant value which can be determined from analysis and test for each adhesive.
