Objective : To investigate the sources, extent and related factors in South Korean doctors. Methods : The study subjects were 934 doctors in Taegu, Kyungpook Province, Korea(540 independent practitioners, 105 employed at hospitals and 289 residents in training). Information concerning job stress was obtained using a 9-item questionnaire. Information regarding related factors such as demographic characteristics(age, sex, marital status), perceptions on the socioeconomic status of doctors and working conditions(work time, on-call days per week) was also obtained by self-administered questionnaire during April and May, 2000. Results : Major sources of job stress included clnical responsibility/judgement factor, patient factor and work loading factor. The job stress score of residents was the highest among three groups. The score was lower in older doctors. The score was low among those who thought doctors' socioeconomic status was not good. The longer the work time, the higher the job stress score was. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to control for the mutual influence of independent variables. In regression analysis, the score of residents was higher than practitioners. Work time and socioeconomic status perception had negative effects on job stress score. Conclusion : The average job stress score of the doctors was high. Age, work type, working conditions and perceptions of socioeconomic status were found to besignificantly related to job stress score. Although the job stress of doctors is somewhat inevitable due to the nature of the doctor's job, control of work time, development of coping tools and other intervention methods are needed to reduce job stress of doctors. Further studies are required to understand the characteristics of iob stress and reduce the job stress of doctors.

Methods: With a correlational survey design, 155 emergency room nurses were recruited in D metropolitan city. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire including ER-related job stress, turnover intention, and subjects' characteristics from March 18 to March 26, 2013. Results: Overall mean score of job stress was $284.34{\pm}40.60$, indicating higher level of job stress. The highest job stress category was conflict related inside the hospital and transportation team, and followed by matters related the patient and the guardian, conflicts with doctors, and heavy workload. The average score of turnover intention was $15.41{\pm}3.68$, indicating higher intention to quit their jobs. There was a moderate level of positive correlation between job stress and turnover intention (r=.44, p<.001). Turnover intention was high when ER nurses had higher job stress (${\beta}$=.38), were female (${\beta}$=.22), and wished to move to another department (${\beta}$=.17). Conclusion: The most important factor of turnover intention was job stress among ER nurses. Strategies to lower turnover rate for ER nurses should be focused on seeking ways to reduce their job stress.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem or social support on job-related stress and depression among emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Methods: Data were collected from EMTs at emergency medical institutions and fire stations (n=257). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with SPSS WIN 21.0. Results: Self-esteem and social support of EMTs were found to be at moderate levels (Self-esteem: M=3.04, SD=0.43; Social support: M=3.65, SD=0.43) Job-related stress was positively correlated with depression: the higher the job-related stress score, the higher the depression score. Moreover, self-esteem score or social support score was negatively associated with job-related stress and depression: the higher the self-esteem score or the higher the social support score, the lower the job related stress score and the depression score. Conclusions: Future research should address how social support and networks interact and together affect self-esteem for job-related stress and depression.
This study investigated the relationship of demographic and psychological variables with job and family-related stress among 293 employed wives. We found that age, job types, working in weekend, and family cohesion significantly contributed to the explanation of job-related stress. We also found that job types, working in weekend, family adaptation, family cohesion, and employment motivation significantly contributed to explaining the variation of family-related stress. Job-related stress was more explained by demographic variables than psychological ones, whereas family-related stress was more explained by psychological variables than demographic ones. Practical implications of the current findings were discussed.

Purpose: To determine effects of job-seeking stress on perimenstrual symptoms of female college students with health and non-health related majors and mediating effects of stress coping styles. Methods: Data were collected from 189 female college students who were juniors or seniors. This study was conducted using questionnaires on job-seeking stress, perimenstrual symptoms, and stress coping styles. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS, version 23.0. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. Results: Job-seeking stress was significantly and positively correlated with perimenstrual symptoms in non-health college students. Passive stress coping styles demonstrated a complete mediating effect on the relationship between job-seeking stress and perimenstrual symptoms of those with non-health related majors (${\beta}=0.31$, p=.002). Such effect was significant (Sobel test; Z=2.06, p=.039). Conclusion: Effects of job-seeking stress on perimenstrual symptoms were mediated by passive stress coping styles of non-health related major students. Based on findings of this study, effective stress cope strategies should be developed considering characteristics of majors to manage perimenstrual symptoms of female college students with high job-seeking stress.
In the perspective of industrial health management, it is important for the employee to decrease their job stress, to improve their productivity and quality of labor. In this study, the job stress, and it's influence on PWI(Psychosocial Wellbeing Index) were investigated by the questionnaire survey of 138 industrial workers who had studied assistive technology in college. The contents of questionnaire consist of the demographic characteristics, job-related characteristics, job stress and psycho-social stress. We evaluated job stress by KOSS-SF(Korean Occupational Stress Scale-Sort Form) and psychosocial stress by PWI-SF(Psychosocial Well-being Index-Short Form). To analyze the results, we evaluated the exposure level of KOSS and PWI by demographic characteristics and job-related characteristics using significance tests. Also, we estimated the relationship among demographic characteristics, job-related characteristics, job stress and psychosocial stress, using correlation analysis. As a results, all workers were found to be in a group under the high risky stress. It showed that the scale index of female's job non-autonomy and pwi were much larger than those of male's. Therefore, to guarantee job autonomy of female workers should be more emphasized, to improve their working environment. Job type had significant relationships with many job stress category; physical environment, job demand, job instability and organization culture. Regarding pwi, the scale index of the workers who is in charge of the civil service such as contacting the disabled and the aged in person, were much larger than that of the other workers. Accordingly, the job stress management program including physical environment, job demand, job instability and organization culture, should be suggested, to decrease the stress of the workers in charge of the disabled and the elders service. The strongest predictors of pwi was organization system through maximum positive relations between organization system and pwi. Therefore, it indicates that improvement of organization system such as a fair merit rating, a manpower supply, demand plan and department cooperation is urgently needed to reduce pwi.
Purpose: This study is to investigate the effects of job instability and job stress on the turnover intention of sports facility workers in the COVID-19 situation, considering the moderating effects of perceived organizational support. Methods: This study surveyed service workers working at public sports facilities in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The multi-regression and hierarchical regression analysis were employed to analyze the collected data. Results: The results indicate that all of the factors constituting job instability (organizational, job, and personal factors) had a significant influence on the factors constituting job stress (job characteristic, roll-related, and human relationship factors), except for only the relationship between organizational factor and rol-related factor. Job characteristic and roll-related factors constituting job stress significantly affected turnover intention of sports facility workers. Also, it was found that the perceived organizational support moderated the relationship between job characteristic factors of job stress and turnover intention. Conclusion: Although the COVID-19 created an environment with very high job instability, the negative impacts of job instability and job stress can be minimized through consideration and support for service workers of the organization, reducing turnover intention.

Thus, hopelessness is relatively less when term of employment is shorter and job satisfaction and payment satisfaction is higher. Third, variables which affect directly to working stress and hopelessness are term of employment $(\beta=.245)$, payment satisfaction $(\beta=-.182)$ and working stress $(\beta=.189)$, and types of job, term of employment and job satisfaction influences hopelessness indirectly through working stress. In conclusion, workers are more negative when term of employment is longer, payment satisfaction is less and working stress is higher. Moreover, longer term of employment and less job satisfaction contribute to higher working stress and eventually influence hopelessness. Term of employment affects the most to hopelessness $(\beta=.274)$, and it is followed by working stress $(\beta=.189)$ and payment satisfaction $(\beta=-.182)$.
