  • Despite much interest and investment in the Internet of Things (IoT) which expand the Internet to a ubiquitous network including objects in the physical world, there is growing concerns of privacy protections. Because the risk of privacy invasion is higher in IoT environments than ever before, privacy need to be a key issue in the diffusion of IoT. Considering that the privacy concern is a critical barrier for user to adopt information technologies, it is important to investigate users' privacy concerns related to IoT applications. From the triad perspective (i.e., risk on technology, risk on service provider, and trust on legislation), this study aims to examine users' privacy concerns in the context of activity trackers.

  • In recent years, internet of things (IoT) technology has developed rapidly and has been applied in many fields. IoT devices collect and analyze information in various environments and provide useful information to users. Due to the recent increase in IoT devices, many open source platforms based on hardware and software that are cheap and easy to use have been developed and provided. In this paper, we have studied the IoT system based on Arduino which can communicate Bluetooth wireless data with smart phone in real time. And we have developed a wireless system control app based on App Invertor 2 for communication with Android smart phone. Also, we propose an IoT system based on Arduino which can control the devices and implement the function of connectivity between devices.

  • Recently, various infrastructure-less IoT networking schemes have been studied to construct local IoT networks based on self-organization. This is, because RPL protocol, which is to support infrastructure based network construction is used to construct local IoT networks. Thus, a self-organization networking and ad hoc path between client and server in local IoT networks is not supported in basis RPL protocol. In this paper, we propose a self-organization networking scheme which support infrastructure-less based IoT network construction in low-power and lossy network based IoT environments consisting of IoT devices with the constrained feature, such as low power, the limited transmission rate and low computing capacity. Through simulation, we show that the proposed self-organization networking scheme improves the performance, in terms of the number of packets generated for end-to end data transmission and the end-to-end delay, compared to basis RPL protocol.

  • Recently, due to the increase in the use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the amount of data transmitted and processed to cloud computing servers has increased rapidly. As a result, network problems (delay, server overload and security threats) are emerging. In particular, edge computing with lower computational capabilities than cloud computing requires a lightweight authentication algorithm that can easily authenticate numerous IoT devices. In this paper, we proposed a key-agreement protocol of a lightweight algorithm that guarantees anonymity and forward and backward secrecy between IoT and edge devices. and the proposed algorithm is stable in MITM and replay attacks for edge device and IoT. As a result of comparing and analyzing the proposed key-agreement protocol with previous studies, it was shown that a lightweight protocol that can be efficiently used in IoT and edge devices.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem potentially includes heterogeneous devices with different processing mechanisms as well as very complicated network and communication models. Thus, analysis of data associated with adverse conditions is much more complicated. Moreover, mobile things in the IoT lead to dynamic alteration of environments and developments of a dynamic and ultra-large-scale (ULS) environment. Also, IoT and the services provided by that are mostly based on devices with limited resources or things that may not be capable of hosting conventional controls. Finally, the dynamic and heterogeneous and ULS environment of the IoT will lead to the emergence of new security requirements. The conventional preventive and diagnostic security controls cannot sufficiently protect it against increasing complication of threats. The counteractions provided by these methods are mostly dependent on insufficient static data that cannot sufficiently protect systems against sophisticated and dynamically evolved attacks. Accordingly, this paper investigates the current security approaches employed in the IoT architectures. Moreover, we define the dynamic security based on dynamic event analysis, dynamic engineering of new security requirements, context awareness and adaptability, clarify the need for employment of new security mechanism, and delineate further works that need to be conducted to achieve a secure IoT.

  • Nowadays, most researchers and manufacturers always pay attention on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) due to its potential applications in many regions such as military, industrial and civilian areas. WSNs are the basic components of Internet of Things (IoT) and the key to machine-to-machine communications and the future Internet. Also, the security is an essential element for deploying WSNs. Recently the concept of trust-based mechanism was proposed in WSNs such as traditional cryptographic and authentication mechanisms. However, there is lack a survey on trust management for WSNs, IoT even future Internet. In this paper, we discuss the concept and potential application areas of trust management for WSNs and IoT worlds. Furthermore, we survey different trust management issues (i.e., cluster, aggregation, reputation). Finally, future research directions with respect to trust management in WSNs and future IoT world are provided. We give not only simple WSNs for IoT environments but also a simulated bootstrap platform to provide the discussion of open challenges and solutions for deploying IoT in Future Internet.

  • Trust management is one of the most challenging issues for the highly heterogeneous Internet of Things (IoT). In the context of the IoT, it is difficult to evaluate the node's trustworthiness in the same trust model when a node provides different services. Guaranteeing the availability of the trust management service is another significant challenge because of the dynamic nature of IoT environments. With these issues in mind, this paper propose a robust and adaptive trust management system for the IoT that is able to measure the trustworthiness of nodes based on feedbacks collected from participants in a specific context and ensure the availability of trust management services. The main contributions of our system are: 1) Proposing a partly decentralized trust management framework, which improves the resiliency of the trust mechanism; 2) Proposing an adaptive trust evaluation scheme and a three-dimensional context representation makes trust evaluation more accurate and specific; 3) Enhancing the adaptive trust evaluation scheme by incorporating a bad behavior factor in trust estimation, which efficiently distinguishes misleading feedbacks from On-Off attacks. Simulation results show the good performance of the proposed system and especially show effectiveness against On-Off attacks compared to other trust mechanisms.

  • The sensor nodes in underwater IoT networks have practical limitations in power supply. Thus, the reduction of power consumption is one of the most important issues in underwater environments. In this regard, AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding) techniques are used by using the relation between SNR and BER. However, according to our hands-on experience, we observed that the relation between SNR and BER is not that tight in underwater environments. Therefore, we propose a deep learning based MLP classification model to reflect multiple underwater channel parameters at the same time. It correctly predicts BER with a high accuracy of 85.2%. The proposed model can choose the best parameters to have the highest throughput. Simulation results show that the throughput can be enhanced by 4.4 times higher than the conventionally measured results.
