  • Recently, the number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has been increasing exponentially. These IoT devices are directly connected to the internet to exchange information. IoT devices are becoming smaller and lighter. However, security measures are not taken in a timely manner compared to the security vulnerabilities of IoT devices. This is often the case when the security patches cannot be applied to the device because the security patches are not adequately applied or there is no patch function. Thus, security vulnerabilities continue to exist, and security incidents continue to increase. In this study, we classified and analyzed the most common security vulnerabilities for IoT devices and identify the essential vulnerabilities of IoT devices that should be considered for security when producing IoT devices. This paper will contribute to reducing the occurrence of security vulnerabilities in companies that produce IoT devices. Additionally, companies can identify vulnerabilities that frequently occur in IoT devices and take preemptive measures.

  • It is necessary to develop a service that meets various environmental requirements so that the Internet of things can be applied to the fourth industry in overall. This paper presents a method for extracting IoT devices information to change the current provider centric service provision environment in order to construct a user centered service provision environment for Web services. Also, it provides users to utilize the appropriate web services through taking advantage of IoT devices information. The existing service provision environment is focused on the method of selecting the service using the provider service information, thus, it is considered necessary for a user-oriented service search method to be in need. In this study, the service list is provided to the user by combining provider information and information extracted from IoT Devices. IoT information collection generates information by separating context information such as information between IoT devices and users and event information between devices through identifiers. In this paper, we propose a development of a user centric service environment by presenting users with a necessary service list through the proposed IoT information.

  • Services that enhance user convenience by using various IoT devices are increasing with the development of Internet of Things(IoT) technology. Also, since the price of IoT sensors has become cheaper, companies providing services by collecting and utilizing data from various sensors are increasing. The smart IoT home system is a representative use case that improves the user convenience by using IoT devices. To improve user convenience of Smart IoT home system, this paper proposes a method for the control of related devices based on data analysis. Internal environment measurement data collected from IoT sensors, device control data collected from device control actuators, and user judgment data are learned to predict the current home state and control devices. Especially, differently from previous approaches, it uses deep neural network to analyze the data to determine the inner state of the home and provide information for maintaining the optimal inner environment. In the experiment, we compared the results of the long-term measured data with the inferred data and analyzed the discrimination performance of the proposed method.

  • Recently, research on the automation of home IoT has been carried out in which IoT (Internet of Things) is applied inside the home. However, the conventional IoT automation system has a problem that the operation of the device is limited only by the threshold value of the sensor, so that the device may collide and interfere with each other and the efficiency of the Task is low due to the malfunction of the device. In this paper, we propose a Situation-specific task classification algorithm to solve these problems. Using the sensor threshold and the current date as classification values in the decision tree, the task according to the internal situation of the home is classified and the corresponding device is selected and proceeded. Therefore, it is expected that the users will be provided with a service that changes flexibly according to changes in the internal situation of the home, and the accuracy of the operation will be increased by reducing the malfunction of the device and the collision between the devices.

  • Many countries, especially ICT powers, are supporting IoT-based technology at a national level and this technology is actively being researched in the businesses and research institutes in an aim to develop technology and create an ecosystem. Roads in the Seoul city are building public facilities based on IoT to provide various services and conveniences for the users. However, for the full-fledged introduction and development of IoT, there are many cases where infringement on security and privacy and threat for life and safety happen. Also, as the IoT environment includes various environment technologies such as the existing sensor network, heterogeneous communication network, and devices optimized for the IoT environment, it inherits the existing security threat and various attack techniques. This paper researches the attribute based encryption technology for safe communication in the IoT environment. The data collected from the device is transmitted utilizing the attribute based encryption and by designing the key generation protocol, grades and authorities for the device and users are identified to transmit safe messages.

  • With IoT device technology developments, such devices now can perceive the surrounding environment and operate upon the condition, but a method for efficiently processing an enormous amount of IoT device data is required. The existing cloud computing has a transmission delay problem due to load and distance. Fog Computing, an environment to control IoT devices, therefore, emerged to solve this problem. In Fog Computing, IoT devices are located close to each other to solve the shortcomings of the cloud system. While many earlier studies on Fog Computing for IoT mainly focus on its structure and framework, we would like to propose an integrated Fog Computing platform that monitors, analyzes, and controls IoT devices.

  • The sixth generation(6G) wireless communication technology is advancing toward ultra-high speed, ultra-high bandwidth, and hyper-connectivity. With the development of communication technologies, the formation of a hyper-connected society is rapidly accelerating, expanding from the IoT(Internet of Things) to the IoE(Internet of Everything). However, at the same time, security threats targeting IoT devices have become widespread, and there are concerns about security incidents such as unauthorized access and information leakage. As a result, the need for security-enhancing solutions is increasing. In this paper, we implement an autoencoder-based anomaly detection model utilizing real-time collected network traffics in respond to IoT security threats. Considering the difficulty of capturing IoT device traffic data for each attack in real IoT environments, we use an unsupervised learning-based autoencoder and implement 6 different autoencoder models based on the use of noise in the training data and the dimensions of the latent space. By comparing the model performance through experiments, we provide a performance evaluation of the anomaly detection model for detecting abnormal network traffic.

  • Recent advances in Internet of Things (IoT) encourage us to use IoT devices in daily living areas. However, as IoT devices are being ubiquitously used, concerns onsecurity and privacy of IoT devices are getting grown. Key management is an important and fundamental task to provide security services. For better security, we should restrict reusing a same key in sequential authentication sessions, but it is difficult to manually update and memorize keys. In this paper, we propose a hardware security module(HSM) for automated key management in IoT devices. Our HSM is attached to an IoT device and communicates with the device. It provides an automated, secure key update process without any user intervention. The secure keys provided by our HSM can be used in the user and device authentications for any internet services.
