  • Recently, most online firms are trying to provide personalized services based on customer's data. However, customers are reluctant to give their information to online firm because of concerns about data breach. Online firms are seeking to increase their trust by ensuring the protection of personal information for customers through privacy seal (e.g. e-privacy) or data breach insurance. This research examines the effects of privacy assurance(i.e. privacy seal, data breach insurance) on consumer behavior in online environment. An experiment based on the hypothetical scenario was conducted using a between-subjects 2 (type of privacy assurance) + 1 (control) design. We found that both privacy seal and data breach insurance increased perceived privacy trust. In addition, privacy seal has a positive effect on the intention to provide personal information through perceived privacy trust. Finally, in the case of the group with a high (low) disposition to trust, higher perceived privacy trust is formed through privacy seal (data breach insurance). Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

  • A smart city utilizes data collected from various sensors through the internet of things (IoT) and improves city operations across the urban area. Recently substantial research is underway to examine all aspects of data that requires for the smart city operation. Atmospheric data are an essential component for successful smart city implementation, including Urban Air Mobility (UAM), infrastructure planning, safety and convenience, and traffic management. Unfortunately, the current level of conventional atmospheric data does not meet the needs of the new city concept. New and innovative approaches to developing high spatiotemporal resolution of observational and modeling data, resolving the complex urban structure, are expected to support the future needs. The geographic information system (GIS) integrates the atmospheric data with the urban structure and offers information system enhancement. In this study we proposed the necessity and applicability of the high resolution urban meteorological dataset based on heavy fog cases in the smart city region (e.g., Sejong and Pusan) in Korea.

  • Indoor localization is a critical component for numerous applications, ranging from navigation in large buildings to emergency response. This paper presents an enhanced Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) scheme using smartphone sensors, integrating neural network-aided motion recognition, Kalman filter-based error correction, and multi-sensor data fusion. The proposed system leverages data from the accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, and barometer to accurately estimate a user's position and orientation. A neural network processes sensor data to classify motion modes and provide real-time adjustments to stride length and heading calculations. The Kalman filter further refines these estimates, reducing cumulative errors and drift. Experimental results, collected using a smartphone across various floors of University, demonstrate the scheme's ability to accurately track vertical movements and changes in heading direction. Comparative analyses show that the proposed CNN-LSTM model outperforms conventional CNN and Deep CNN models in angle prediction. Additionally, the integration of barometric pressure data enables precise floor level detection, enhancing the system's robustness in multi-story environments. Proposed comprehensive approach significantly improves the accuracy and reliability of indoor localization, making it viable for real-world applications.

  • BACKGROUND: Various culture media have been used for hydroponic cultures of horticultural plants under the smart greenhouses with natural and artificial light types. Management of the culture medium for the control of medium amounts and/or necessary components absorbed by plants during the cultivation period is performed with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and/or IoT (Internet of Things) in a smart farm system. This study was conducted to develop the cloud-based data analysis system for effective management of culture medium applying to hydroponic culture and plant growth in smart greenhouses. METHODS AND RESULTS: Conventional inorganic Yamazaki and organic media derived from agricultural byproducts such as a immature fruit, leaf, or stem were used for hydroponic culture media. Component changes of the solutions according to the growth stage were monitored and plant growth was observed. Red and green lettuce seedlings (Lactuca sativa L.) which developed 2~3 true leaves were considered as plant materials. The seedlings were hydroponically grown in the smart greenhouse with fluorescent and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) lights of $150{\mu}mol/m^2/s$ light intensity for 35 days. Growth data of the seedlings were classified and stored to develop the relational database in the virtual machine which was generated from an open stack cloud system on the base of growth parameter. Relation of the plant growth and nutrient absorption pattern of 9 inorganic components inside the media during the cultivation period was investigated. The stored data associated with component changes and growth parameters were visualized on the web through the web framework and Node JS. CONCLUSION: Time-series changes of inorganic components in the culture media were observed. The increases of the unfolded leaves or fresh weight of the seedlings were mainly dependent on the macroelements such as a $NO_3-N$, and affected by the different inorganic and organic media. Though the data analysis system was developed, actual measurement data were offered by using the user smart device, and analysis and comparison of the data were visualized graphically in time series based on the cloud database. Agricultural management in data visualization and/or plant growth can be implemented by the data analysis system under whole agricultural sites regardless of various culture environmental changes.
