  • With an increasing interest in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into interview processes, the Republic of Korea (ROK) army is trying to lead and analyze AI-powered interview platform. This study is to analyze the AI interview data using a unified non-crossing multiple quantile tree (UNQRT) model. Compared to the UNQRT, the existing models, such as quantile regression and quantile regression tree model (QRT), are inadequate for the analysis of AI interview data. Specially, the linearity assumption of the quantile regression is overly strong for the aforementioned application. While the QRT model seems to be applicable by relaxing the linearity assumption, it suffers from crossing problems among estimated quantile functions and leads to an uninterpretable model. The UNQRT circumvents the crossing problem of quantile functions by simultaneously estimating multiple quantile functions with a non-crossing constraint and is robust from extreme quantiles. Furthermore, the single tree construction from the UNQRT leads to an interpretable model compared to the QRT model. In this study, by using the UNQRT, we explored the relationship between the results of the Army AI interview system and the existing personnel data to derive meaningful results.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and analysis the elementary teachers' and students' views about the difficulties in teaching and learning in geology units of elementary school science. For the purpose of this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted individually with seventeen elementary teachers who have serviced more than three years, and with sixteen elementary students located in Cheongju City. The interview questions were developed through Seidman's step to acquire a reliability in the interview data with triangulation, then in-depth interview questions were modified and completed through pre-interview after constructing the trustworthiness of interviewees. In-depth interviews were performed in applying the analytic induction method and the interviews were recorded. From the interviews, we found that elementary teachers' views about the difficulties in teaching geology units; teachers' inner difficulties, the difficulty of lab activities, the problems of rock samples, the problems of curriculum in geology units, the difficulty of the geological feature, the problems of the cramming education, the lack of the opportunity for the speciality, and so on. And the students have the views about the difficulties in learning geology units; the difficulty of the unit contents understanding, the problems of learning by heart, the lack of the interest, the lack of materials, the problems of rock samples, the difficulty of the field learning, and so on. Based on the results, the study suggested that an interesting lab activities should be included in the geology units and taught in the geological field trip to help elementary school students more fully comprehend contents of the geology units.

  • Although women's status in society have been improving, the existing space for women's main activities is still perceived as limited in scope. In this respect, this study analyzes the domestic literature on women's space and discusses the space for women with intent to gain some implications for further studies on space associated with women. Articles on women's space were sub-classified in light of keywords, years of publication, sites, purposes, methods and journal categories, followed by network and frequency analyses. In addition, focus group interview was conducted to explore a new orientation for further studies. The degree centrality was found high in such keywords as 'women's clinics', 'CPTED', 'women-friendly cities' and 'femininity'. In addition, there is a paucity of studies on women's space. Recent studies have diversified the scope of women's space. At the same time, macroscopic 'urban' approaches to women's space have lately been emerging. Finally, the focus group interview on women's space highlighted the needs to further studies about 'femininity, 'maternity', and 'gender equality' in space, and 'safe environment'.

  • The COVID-19 is a pandemic that affects all facets of our life and will change many patterns in science technology and innovation. A qualitative study was conducted using Focus Group Interview involving ten industry-academia-research experts with the objective of identifying changes in Korea's national innovation system and science & technology policy after the COVID-19. Eight questions were designed, based on the major components of the national innovation system, such as companies, universities, and research institutes, to discuss the changes in the national innovation system and science & technology policy. Also, keyword analysis and cluster analysis were performed using the network analysis program VOSviewer. It is predicted that, in the wake of the COVID-19, Korea's national innovation system will shift to a new paradigm that is more decentralized, responsive, and autonomous. Furthermore, several policy agendas that can turn these changes into positive momentum of change in science & technology policy are presented.

Thus, this study was performed to investigate in-depth qualitative research on the mother's perception on children's food behaviors by focused group interview. This study was designed in four steps of planning, collection of participants, process, and analysis. Participants for the focus group interview were recruited and sampled from households with elementary school students in the Seoul and Gyeonggido areas. Groups were divided by total income and education expense levels. 1) High income household: It is better to improve currently existing web sites for nutrition education. 2) Mid income household: Easy, practical, and inexpensive off-line cooking class/nutrition education classes for mothers are needed. Nutrition programs for children should be developed through mass media and be promoted in the broadcasting circle. 3) Low income household: Motivation is required for mothers' educatior and the serious nutritional problems of children should be informed through mass media and home correspondence from school. • Purpose This study is to phenomenologically discover key antecedents and outcomes of behavioral process of SNS users who have multiple SNS sub-accounts. Unlike previous studies that focused on user behavior in the context of a specific SNS platform, this study attempts to describe how and why individual manages their multiple sub-accounts across a variety of SNS platforms. Design/methodology/approach By applying the grounded theory methodology (GTM) to elucidate the unique behavior in SNS platforms, this study has conducted in-depth interview with 14 respondents who handle multiple accounts across the SNS platforms. As a results of analyzing the interview manuscripts, this study has extracted 47 concepts, 10 sub-categories and 6 main categories by conducting open coding, axis coding, and selective coding. Findings By analyzing interview data, this study has derived main categories such as account management, impression management, self-categorization, authority to determine the relationship, digital shadow work, and portfolio SNS accounts from qualitative interview data. This study has also conducted a process analysis that represents how main categories could be inter-related. Based on findings, this study provides a new phenomenological perspective to understand the behavioral process of SNS users' sub-account usage experience.
