  • In general, non-stationary or chaos time series forecasting is very difficult since there exists a drift and/or nonlinearities in them. To overcome this situation, we suggest a new prediction method based on multiple model TS fuzzy predictors combined with preprocessing of time series data, where, instead of time series data, the differences of them are applied to predictors as input. In preprocessing procedure, the candidates of optimal difference interval are determined by using con-elation analysis and corresponding difference data are generated. And then, for each of them, TS fuzzy predictor is constructed by using k-means clustering algorithm and least squares method. Finally, the best predictor which minimizes the performance index is selected and it works on hereafter for prediction. Computer simulation is performed to show the effectiveness and usefulness of our method.

  • The temperature crack of concrete structure is caused by the phenomenon which the concrete volume is restricted in the inside or outside part due th the temperature variations induced by the hydration heat of cement. And mass concrete structures are weak in temperature crack. This study performed the hydration heat analysis of Seongdeok dam to analyze the hydration heat according to different interval of placement.

  • This paper describes the lightning overvoltage occurred differently according to installation methods of arresters and overhead grounding wire in case of double circuits distribution systems. First, the analysis models are established considering the severe case between upper and lower distribution line, when the direct lightning surge strikes to the overhead grounding wire. The lightning overvoltage is variously analyzed with the change of grounding interval and resistance, arrester installation interval as well as the magnitude of surge using EMTP. After simulation results are compared with the BIL which is now used at field, the authors propose the methods for suitable shielding in domestic distribution systems.

  • The objective of this research is to develop a cost model for integrated CAD system. A computerized system realizing this model then is used to aid designers. The first area is to propose a conceptual framework of a multilevel cost model. The methodology of constructing the model is discussed. Then suggestion of an object oriented programming technique for implementing the model is presented. Complicate estimation procedure can be systematically handled by this technique. Interval analysis to deal with the uncertainty of information and decision during design process is used. An experimentation algorithm for calculating the cost distribution is proposed to overcome the shortcoming of interval analysis. Major focus of this research is on net shape manufacturing processes including die casting, injection molding, and metal forming.

  • It has become apparent from the recent work by Choi et al. [3] on the nonlinear beam deflection problem, that analysis of the integral operator $\mathcal{K}$ arising from the beam deflection equation on linear elastic foundation is important. Motivated by this observation, we perform investigations on the eigenstructure of the linear integral operator $\mathcal{K}_l$ which is a restriction of $\mathcal{K}$ on the finite interval [$-l,l$]. We derive a linear fourth-order boundary value problem which is a necessary and sufficient condition for being an eigenfunction of $\mathcal{K}_l$. Using this equivalent condition, we show that all the nontrivial eigenvalues of $\mathcal{K}l$ are in the interval (0, 1/$k$), where $k$ is the spring constant of the given elastic foundation. This implies that, as a linear operator from $L^2[-l,l]$ to $L^2[-l,l]$, $\mathcal{K}_l$ is positive and contractive in dimension-free context.

  • An enhanced and efficient methodology is proposed for evaluating the robustness of an uncertain structure with passive dampers. Although the structural performance for seismic loads is an important design criterion in earthquake-prone countries, the structural parameters such as storey stiffnesses and damping coefficients of passive dampers are uncertain due to various factors or sources, e.g. initial manufacturing errors, material deterioration, temperature dependence. The concept of robust building design under such uncertain structural-parameter environment may be one of the most challenging issues to be tackled recently. By applying the proposed method of interval analysis and robustness evaluation for predicting the response variability accurately, the robustness of a passively controlled structure can be evaluated efficiently in terms of the so-called robustness function. An application is presented of the robustness function to the design and evaluation of passive damper systems.

  • A model of simultaneous heat and mass transfer process in absorption of refrigerant vapor into a lithium bromide solution of water-cooled vertical plate absorber. which was considered to the change of refrigerant vapor pressure along the plate width direction. was developed to evaluate the compactness of plate absorber and supply basis data for optimal design of plate absorber. The effects of plate interval as well as the effect of capacity for one piece of plate absorber on plate absorber size such as plate height. plate heating area and plate absorber volume have been investigated. It is confirmed that there is exist an optimal plate interval minimizing plate absorber volume. And the smaller capacity for one piece of plate absorber. the smaller plate absorber volume is obtained.

  • Generally, methods using transfer techniques, like the transfer matrix method and the transfer stiffness coefficient method, find natural frequencies using the sign change of frequency determinants in searching frequency region. However, these methods may omit some natural frequencies when the initial frequency interval is large. The Sylvester-transfer stiffness coefficient method ("S-TSCM") can always obtain all natural frequencies in the searching frequency region even though the initial frequency interval is large. Because the S-TSCM obtain natural frequencies using the number of natural frequencies existing under a searching frequency. In this paper, the algorithm for the free vibration analysis of axisymmetric conical shells was formulated with S-TSCM. The effectiveness of S-TSCM was verified by comparing numerical results of S-TSCM with those of other methods when analyzing free vibration in two computational models: a truncated conical shell and a complete (not truncated) conical shell.

  • The purpose of this paper is to calculate the excavation volume of unequal interval grid using nonlinear boundary in earthwork volume determination. The formulas by unmerical annlysis in this paper is compared with linear and nonlinear spot level method of unequal interval grid. As a result algorithm of derived formula by numerical analysis should provide a better accuracy than the linear and unlinear spot level method currently in use. Practical application of each method is illustrated by three model test.

  • This study is concerned with cost analysis in periodic maintenance policy. Generally periodic maintenance policy in which item is repaired periodic interval times. And in the article minimal repair is considered. Minimal repair means that if a unit fails, unit is instantaneously restored to same hazard rate curve as before failure. In the paper periodic maintenance policy with minimal repair is as follows; Operating unit is periodically replaced in periodic maintenance time, if a failure occurs between minimal repair and periodic maintenance time, unit is replaced by a spate until the periodic time comes. Also unit undergoes minimal repair at failures in minimal-repair-for-failure interval. Then total expected cost per unit time is calculated according to maintenance period and scale parameter of failure distribution. Total cost factors ate included operating, fixed, minimal repair, periodic maintenance and replacement cost Numerical example is shown in which failure time of system has erlang distribution.
