Traditional traffic identification methods based on wellknown port numbers are not appropriate for the identification of new types of Internet applications. This paper proposes a new method to identify current Internet traffic, which is a preliminary but essential step toward traffic characterization. We categorized most current network-based applications into several classes according to their traffic patterns. Then, using this categorization, we developed a flow grouping method that determines the application name of traffic flows. We have incorporated our method into NG-MON, a traffic analysis system, to analyze Internet traffic between our enterprise network and the Internet, and characterized all the traffic according to their application types.
This paper is about a system development which control and monitor a PLC of the remote-distance through the Internet using the web-browser. In general, the PLC uses its own communication protocol of PLC Manufacture. It is actually impossible to be used through the Internet, because the PLC communication protocol is basically developed to be suitable for short-distance. Therefore, what we need is a transformation system which can convert the PLC communication protocol into the form which can connect to the Internet. In that sense, this paper is that about remote-control method through the WWW ( World Wide Web ). This system have three characteristics. First, it is possible to connect the Internet directly irrespective of CPU, Operating system and browser. Second, it is easy for user to access and treat. Third, it needs only HTML to operate without java or plug-in expansion. In this paper, we will introduce the monitoring and control system of PLC on the Linux with the Apache web-server.

Grid technology requires use of geographically distributed resources from multiple domains. Resource monitoring services or tools consisting sensors or agents will run on many systems to find static resource information (such as architecture vendor, OS name and version, MIPS rate, memory size, CPU capacity, disk size, and NIC information) and dynamic resource information (CPU usage, network usage(bandwidth, latency), memory usage, etc.). Thus monitoring itself may cause system overhead. This paper proposes the optimal monitoring interval to reduce the cost of monitoring services and the dynamic monitoring interval to measure monitoring events accurately. By employing two features, we find out unnecessary system overhead is significantly reduced and accuracy of events is still acquired.

A cost-effective automated slope monitoring system is developed to monitor hazardous cut slopes along highways. This automated slope monitoring system consists of data-collection and visual monitoring, data-transmitting, database and internet service, and alarm system. Wire-line extensometer, automatic raingauge, and CCD camera are selected as monitoring instruments in this system, after consideration of failure characteristics of roadside cut slopes in the country. This paper describes the important features of this newly developed automated slope monitoring system.
To test if the developed ubiquitous health care devices working well and vital information could be collected and monitored systematically through internet and to test if the devices and services could be used further. Kyungwon University, KT Co., Gil Medical Center, LIG Nex1 Co., and Sujeong Health Center conducted an ubiquitous health care demonstration project in Sujeong-Gu, Sungnam, Korea from Mar. 5 to May 16. We developed and applied several medical devices to monitor health of the elderly in their houses through internet. The devices were sphygmomanometer, glucometer, body fat scale, Health Pad, and activity sensor. We distributed the devices to 20 recipients of home care and 7 diabetes patients. After received the devices and were explained how to use them, they used the devices in their houses. The vital signs of the residents were monitored through internet. A nurse monitored and consulted their vital signs in the monitoring center in Kyungwon University during the demonstration period. The consultant called them and consulted on their blood pressure, blood sugar level, and body fat after a few seconds they used the devices as well as provision of recommended contents such as diets and activities through Health Pad. To investigate cognition and satisfaction of the participants for the devices, we surveyed the participants at the end of the demonstration period. For the change in blood pressure, blood sugar level, and activities, we conducted statistical test. After the demonstration period. cognition and satisfaction for the devices and change in blood pressure, blood sugar level, and activities were evaluated. Most of the participants were acknowledged how to use the device and satisfied with the use of the devices. The internet monitoring and services are considered to be promising because most of the participants were satisfied especially because somebody was monitoring their health status. However some weaknesses such as short battery life of the activity sensor, lack of connection of consultations with hospitals, and low understanding on usage of some of the devices need to be complemented.
This study was carried out to design, construct, and test a greenhouse monitoring system fur the environment and status of control devices in a greenhouse from a remote site using internet. The measuring items selected out of many environmental factors were temperature, humidity, solar radiation, CO$_2$, SOx, NOx concentration, EC, pH of nutrient solution, the state of control devices, and the image of greenhouse. The developed greenhouse monitoring system was composed of the network system and the measuring module. The network system consists of the three kinds of monitors named the Croup Monitor. the Client Monitor and the Server Monitor. The results of the study are summarized as follows. 1. The measuring module named the House Monitor. which is used to watch the state of the control device and the environment of the greenhouse, was developed to a embedded monitoring module using one chip microprocessor 2. For all measuring items. the House Monitor showed a satisfactory accuracy within the range of ${\pm}$0.3%FS. The House Monitors were connected to the Croup Monitor by communication method of RS-485 type and could operate under power and communication fault condition within 10 hours. The Croup Monitor was developed to receive and display measurement data received from the House Monitors and to control the greenhouse environmental devices. 3. The images of the plants inside greenhouse were captured by PC camera and sent to the Group Monitor. The greenhouse manager was able to monitor the growth state of plants inside greenhouse without visiting individual greenhouses. 4. Remote monitoring the greenhouse environment and status of control devices was implemented in a client/server environment. The client monitor of the greenhouse manager at a remote site or other greenhouse manager was able to monitor the greenhouse environment and the state of control devices from the Server Monitor using internet.
Global climate change and urbanization have various demerits, such as water pollution, flood damage, and deterioration of water circulation. Thus, attention is drawn to Nature-based Solution (NbS) that solve environmental problems in ways that imitate nature. Among the NbS, urban wetlands are facilities that perform functions, such as removing pollutants from a city, improving water circulation, and providing ecological habitats, by strengthening original natural wetland pillars. Frequent monitoring and maintenance are essential for urban wetlands to maintain their performance; therefore, there is a need to apply the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to wetland monitoring. Therefore, in this study, we attempted to develop a real-time wetland monitoring device and interface. Temperature, water temperature, humidity, soil humidity, PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 were measured, and the measurements were taken at 10-minute intervals for three days in both indoor and wetland. Sensors suitable for conditions that needed to be measured and an Arduino MEGA 2560 were connected to enable sensing, and communication modules were connected to transmit data to real-time databases. The transmitted data were displayed on a developed web page. The data measured to verify the monitoring device were compared with data from the Korea meteorological administration and the Korea environment corporation, and the output and upward or downward trend were similar. Moreover, findings from a related patent search indicated that there are a minimal number of instances where information and communication technology (ICT) has been applied in wetland contexts. Hence, it is essential to consider further research, development, and implementation of ICT to address this gap. The results of this study could be the basis for time-series data analysis research using automation, machine learning, or deep learning in urban wetland maintenance.
Software testing is an activity to find defects included in software through creating test cases from the software system specification. In order to perform software testing effectively, it is required to prepare the full test plan, to create well-defined test cases, and to execute test monitoring activities systematically. Most existing researches for the test approaches focus on automating the activities from the test cases generation to the test execution. Contrary to those approaches, we study automatic approaches for test monitoring activities. For this, we identify the research issues that should be solved to automate test monitoring activities. Next, with those solutions, we suggest the construction method for an automatic framework for test monitoring.
Objectives: To successfully introduce an Internet of Things (IoT) system in the hospital environment, this study aimed to identify issues that should be considered while implementing an IoT based on a user demand survey and practical experiences in implementing IoT environment monitoring systems. Methods: In a field test, two types of IoT monitoring systems (on-premises and cloud) were used in Department of Laboratory Medicine and tested for approximately 10 months from June 16, 2016 to April 30, 2017. Information was collected regarding the issues that arose during the implementation process. Results: A total of five issues were identified: sensing and measuring, transmission method, power supply, sensor module shape, and accessibility. Conclusions: It is expected that, with sufficient consideration of the various issues derived from this study, IoT monitoring systems can be applied to other areas, such as device interconnection, remote patient monitoring, and equipment/environmental monitoring.

The location and human activity are usually used as one of the important parameters to monitor the health status in healthcare devices. However, nearly all existing location and monitoring systems have the limitation of short-range communication and high power consumption. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism to collect and transmit monitoring information based on LoRa technology. The monitoring device with sensors can collect the real-time activity and location information and transmit them to the cloud server through LoRa gateway. The user can check all his history and current information through the specific designed mobile applications. Experiment was carried out to verify the communication, power consumption and monitoring performance of the entire system. Experimental results demonstrate that this system can collect monitoring and activity information accurately and provide the long rang coverage with low power consumption.
