Development of Counseling Support System Model for improving Student's Internet Addiction Problem (청소년의 인터넷 중독 문제 개선을 위한 상담 지원 시스템 모형 개발)

  • This study developed a system model to provide teachers unskilled in counseling with contents and methods of counseling so that they can counsel students addicted to the Internet. The system is composed of three modules, which are counseling contents module that provide contents and methods of counseling, counseling support module that maintains and provides information about students and the results of counseling, and evaluation support module that is for the diagnosis of Internet addiction and questionnaire evaluation. The system was applied to 30 elementary and secondary school teachers in their counseling of students addicted to the Internet. According to the result, we analyzed the problems of the developed system. Based on problems and suggestions raised by teachers participating in counseling, we modified this system model.

  • Until now, many networked robots have been connected to the Internet for the various applications. With these networked robots, very long distance teleoperation can be possible through the Internet. However, the promising area of the Internet-based teleoperation may be distance learning, because of several reasons such as the unpredictable characteristics of the Internet. In robotics class, students learn many theories about robots, but it is hard to perform the actual experiments for all students due to the rack of the real robots and safety problems. Some classes may introduce the virtual robot simulator for students to program the virtual robot and upload their program to operate the real robot through the off-line programming method. However, the students may also visit the laboratory when they want to use the real robot for testing their program. In this paper, we developed an Internet-based robot education system. The developed system was composed of two parts, the robotics class materials and the web-based Java3d robot simulator. That is, this system can provide two services for distance learning to the students through the Internet. The robotics class materials can be provided to the student as the multimedia contents on the web page. As well, the web-based robot simulator as the real experiment tool can help the students get good understanding about certain subject. So, the students can learn the required robotics theories and perform the real experiments from their web browser when they want to study themselves at any time.

  • Recently, remote observation and control technology has grown gradually. According to use home network system and expand super-highway information network, digital video technology observation system gradually has increased. In order that the user conveniently use better than to use web browser observation system, it uses existing digital observation system, personal digital assistant and control module in the place of internet.

Associations among Internet Addiction, Personality, Characteristics of Family System, and Learned Self-Concept in Elementary School Students (초등학생의 인터넷 중독 정도와 성격, 가족 체계, 학업적 자아 개념과의 관련성)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of internet addiction and factors affecting internet addiction in elementary school students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed in this study. The subjects were 378 students who were recruited from 5th and 6th grade in five elementary schools in J city, Korea. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the SPSS Win 10.1 program. Results: Of the children, 51.9% reported being average online users, 45.5%, heavy online users, and 2.6%, internet addicted. The level of internet addiction of subjects correlated significantly with the behavioral activation system, behavioral inhibition system, family cohesion, and learned self-concept, but not family adaptability. Significant predictors influencing internet addiction were the behavioral activation system, learned self-concept, and family cohesion. These predictors accounted for 22% of variance in internet addiction. Conclusion: This study found that the behavioral activation system in personality aspects, family cohesion in the family system, and learned self-concept are primary factors that explain internet addiction among elementary students. We suggest these results be used to develop an online addiction prevention or treatment program.

  • According to get ubiquitous environment, it is suggested to environment to get information with whichever terminal at any time wherever. Advancement of ability of mobile device increase requirement of wireless internet base solution. In this paper We developed distance education system based on wireless internet. This system has no problem of bandwidth and resolution of pocket pc because of using SWF(Shockwave Flash). It can maintain readability of high quality when size of resolution is changed but another graphic format can't maintain it.

  • There are many statistical information sites as the use of internet is increased quickly in recent years. In this paper, we explore and analyze internet sites for statistical information such as statistical survey system, education, database, and terminology. And then we classify these sites to apply statistical information to some particular spheres easily. In so doing, this study result aims at enhancing our understanding of internet sites for statistical information.

  • This paper proposes an intelligent system performing an application with assistance of an Internet of Things (IoT) platform to control a traffic lights system. In our proposed systems, the traffic lights can be remotely controlled through the Internet. Based on IoT platform, the traffic conditions at different intersections of roads are collected and the traffic lights are controlled in a central manner. For the software part, the algorithm is designed based on the green wave theory to maximize the green bandwidth of arterial roads while addressing a challenging issue: the rapid changes of parameters including cycle time, splits, offset, non-fixed vehicles' velocities and traffic flow along arterial roads. The issue typically happens at some areas where the transportation system is not well organized like in Vietnam. For the hardware part, PLC S7-1200 are placed at the intersections for two purposes: to control traffic lights and to collect the parameters and transmit to a host machine at the operation center. For the communication part, the TCP/IP protocol can be done using a Profinet port embedded in the PLC. Some graphical user interface captures are also presented to illustrate the operation of our proposed system.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze expenditure on children's private, after-school education, perceptional need for private education, and budget planning pattern for the expenditure of education applying survey data, and to investigate current situation to Identify solving planning for digital age. taking on-line educational service system and internet financial planning for children's educational expenditure into account. Under the purposes, this study especially focused on the condition of on-line educational service system and the merits as well as problems of the system, the need for household financial planning for children's education, and the condition or nature of internet financial planning system, in terms of providing market information and of suggesting policy implications.

Internet Use Motivations and Problem Behaviors of Vocational High School Students according to Internet Addiction and Family System Type (실업계 고등학생의 인터넷 중독 수준과 가족체계유형에 따른 인터넷 사용동기 및 문제행동)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in internet use motivations and problem behaviors among vocational high school students according to internet addiction and family system type. Five hundred vocational high school students from Daegu took part in the survey. The questionnaire survey consisted of an internet addiction self-assessment scale, a family system type scale, an internet use motivation scale, and a problem behavior scale. The data was analysed using MANOVA and Cronbach a, and the $Scheff\acute{e}$ test was used for post-hoc analysis. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, the study found significant differences in adolescent internet use motivation according to internet addiction. Adolescents in the high dangerous user group showed higher communicative, experiential, and addictive motivations than adolescents in potentially dangerous and normal user groups. Also, there were no significant differences in informative motivation according to internet addiction. Regardless of internet addiction, adolescents tend to use the internet to search for information and to solve problems. Second, there were significant differences in adolescents' problem behaviors according to internet addiction. More specifically, adolescents who were in the high dangerous user group displayed more problem behaviors toward their body, family, school, and society than adolescents in the potentially dangerous and the normal user groups. Third, an adolescent's family system type significantly influenced his/her internet use motivation. Adolescents from an extreme family showed higher communicative and addictive motivations than adolescents from middle and balanced families. Fourth, there were significant differences in the problem behaviors of adolescents according to family system types. Adolescents from an extreme family showed more problem behaviors toward their body, family, school, and society than adolescents from middle and balanced families.

  • Recently, internet applications for efficient cyber education have drawn much interests. The world-wide web provides new opportunities for cyber education over the internet. This paper presents a virtual lab system which can be used on the world-wide web. The proposed virtual lab system provides the improved learning methods which can enhance the educational efficiency in engineering experiments. If the students enter the virtual lab system on the web, they can make an experiment on basic electrical and electronic principles through simple mouse manipulation. Since proposed virtual lab system is implemented to describe the actual lab system, the students can obtain similar experimental data through it. Several sample Java applets are illustrated as examples.
