QoS Model for Supporting high Quality Multimedia Services (고품질의 멀티미디어 서비스 제공을 위한 QoS 모델)

  • This paper proposes QoS Model which has tested and analyzed the capabilities of provisioning multimedia service in high speed Internet environment. We have tested quality measurement test for VoIP/MoIP, VoD, IPTV services and analyzed the level of QoS and QoS degradation by constructing test laboratory consisted of 46 subscribers which provided by 3 telecom operators. Besides, We propose QoS Model to apply for BcN application based on analysis result and prove proposed model by constructing test lab in KOREN environment. It is expected that telecom will use this results as a valuable information to construct All-IP network based on NGN(NGN:Next Generation Network).This paper proposes QoS Model which has tested and analyzed the capabilities of provisioning multimedia service in high speed Internet environment. Deployment of Network Resources for Enhancement of Disaster Response Capabilities with Deep Learning and Augmented Reality (딥러닝 및 증강현실을 이용한 재난대응 역량 강화를 위한 네트워크 자원 확보 방안)

  • In this paper, a disaster response scheme based on deep learning and augmented reality technology is proposed and a network resource reservation scheme is presented accordingly. The features of deep learning, augmented reality technology and its relevance to the disaster areas are explained. Deep learning technology can be used to accurately recognize disaster situations and to implement related disaster information as augmented reality, and to enhance disaster response capabilities by providing disaster response On-site disaster response agent, ICS (Incident Command System) and MCS (Multi-agency Coordination Systems). In the case of various disasters, the fire situation is focused on and it is proposed that a plan to strengthen disaster response capability effectively by providing fire situation recognition based on deep learning and augmented reality information. Finally, a scheme to secure network resources to utilize the disaster response method of this paper is proposed.

A Study on National ICT Competency Model (국가정보화역량모델에 대한 연구)

  • Korea's e-government is the world best system and the open government data field is also ranking number 1 by UN evaluation. Therefore Korea's ICT level is ranking number 1 in the world especially in ICT (Information Communication Technology). However, in terms of national ICT capabilities, national ICT competency education is tend to perform by the simple list of courses rather than detail definition of the specific skills or training. In this paper, we define the national ICT capabilities through research and analysis of the national ICT competency model and define the relevant curriculum. This is very important to develop national ICT competency as well as ICT technologies because other countries will develop their information by learning from Korea's ICT and e-government as a model. Therefore, we firstly study about the national ICT competency model and will be drawn from the courses required for national ICT competency model.

  • The "Internet of things" (IoT) is becoming an increasingly growing topic of conversation, it is a new emergent technology that can be present in almost every field and application. It's a concept that not only has the potential to impact how people live but also how people work. Broadband Internet and Mobile Internet are becoming more widely available, the cost of the service is decreasing, more devices are being created with Wi-Fi capabilities and sensors built into them, technology costs are going down, and smartphone penetration is growing so fast. All of these facts are creating the best environment for the IoT applications. In a country like Ecuador, is important to have a previous analysis about the feasibility of the implementation of this new technology in order to know what are the challenges the country has to face, and also to not stay behind as the other countries in the region are advancing. Currently, this kind of analysis does not exist. The Internet of Things is an innovation where business and technology models in Ecuador are relatively unexplored. The current infrastructure deployed in Ecuador and the available devices in the market are the central facts to initiate with the research, which is a starting point to show if Ecuador is ready to this technology, and if is not ready what is missing. This study shows the current telecommunications status in Ecuador, and its strengths and weaknesses to start the deployment of Internet of Things. Besides, it also will show the most likely applications that can be easily adopted for the Ecuadorian market with its respective availability, affordability, and adaptability.

  • Along the era of "Internet of Things (IoT)" in which the physical objects can be connected to the Internet, a smart power management system is proposed in this paper. This system consists of two modules, an electrical outlet device embedding the Wi-Fi capabilities and a web server supporting the management as well as monitoring of power consumptions. Also, with the proposed system, a customer can easily check the status of power consumption and turn on/off the sockets through the developed mobile website. The proposed system is designed to avoid firewall or PC setting problems involving a user's inconvenience.

Multi-Task FaceBoxes: A Lightweight Face Detector Based on Channel Attention and Context Information

  • In recent years, convolutional neural network (CNN) has become the primary method for face detection. But its shortcomings are obvious, such as expensive calculation, heavy model, etc. This makes CNN difficult to use on the mobile devices which have limited computing and storage capabilities. Therefore, the design of lightweight CNN for face detection is becoming more and more important with the popularity of smartphones and mobile Internet. Based on the CPU real-time face detector FaceBoxes, we propose a multi-task lightweight face detector, which has low computing cost and higher detection precision. First, to improve the detection capability, the squeeze and excitation modules are used to extract attention between channels. Then, the textual and semantic information are extracted by shallow networks and deep networks respectively to get rich features. Finally, the landmark detection module is used to improve the detection performance for small faces and provide landmark data for face alignment. Experiments on AFW, FDDB, PASCAL, and WIDER FACE datasets show that our algorithm has achieved significant improvement in the mean average precision. Especially, on the WIDER FACE hard validation set, our algorithm outperforms the mean average precision of FaceBoxes by 7.2%. For VGA-resolution images, the running speed of our algorithm can reach 23FPS on a CPU device.

Weighted Adaptive Opportunistic Scheduling Framework for Smartphone Sensor Data Collection in IoT

  • Smartphones are important platforms because of their sophisticated computation, communication, and sensing capabilities, which enable a variety of applications in the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Moreover, advancements in hardware have enabled sensors on smartphones such as environmental and chemical sensors that make sensor data collection readily accessible for a wide range of applications. However, dynamic, opportunistic, and heterogeneous mobility patterns of smartphone users that vary throughout the day, which greatly affects the efficacy of sensor data collection. Therefore, it is necessary to consider phone users mobility patterns to design data collection schedules that can reduce the loss of sensor data. In this paper, we propose a mobility-based weighted adaptive opportunistic scheduling framework that can adaptively adjust to the dynamic, opportunistic, and heterogeneous mobility patterns of smartphone users and provide prioritized scheduling based on various application scenarios, such as velocity, region of interest, and sensor type. The performance of the proposed framework is compared with other scheduling frameworks in various heterogeneous smartphone user mobility scenarios. Simulation results show that the proposed scheduling improves the transmission rate by 8 percent and can also improve the collection of higher-priority sensor data compared with other scheduling approaches.

KI-HABS: Key Information Guided Hierarchical Abstractive Summarization

  • With the unprecedented growth of textual information on the Internet, an efficient automatic summarization system has become an urgent need. Recently, the neural network models based on the encoder-decoder with an attention mechanism have demonstrated powerful capabilities in the sentence summarization task. However, for paragraphs or longer document summarization, these models fail to mine the core information in the input text, which leads to information loss and repetitions. In this paper, we propose an abstractive document summarization method by applying guidance signals of key sentences to the encoder based on the hierarchical encoder-decoder architecture, denoted as KI-HABS. Specifically, we first train an extractor to extract key sentences in the input document by the hierarchical bidirectional GRU. Then, we encode the key sentences to the key information representation in the sentence level. Finally, we adopt key information representation guided selective encoding strategies to filter source information, which establishes a connection between the key sentences and the document. We use the CNN/Daily Mail and Gigaword datasets to evaluate our model. The experimental results demonstrate that our method generates more informative and concise summaries, achieving better performance than the competitive models.

  • From early simple bulky detectors to show the existence of some specific material, sensor has been developed to miniature smart sensors embedded signal capabilities with a help of nano/micro engineering such as innovative nano materials and semiconductor process technologies. Due to recently fast sales of smart phones with simple telephone function plus many sensors, internet accessing capabilities, easy user downloadable "app" softwares, smart sensor industry market has expanded very fast. If driver-less cars, wearable electronic devices and smart robots will be introduced into market in near future, development of many various smart sensors will be needed.

  • E-commerce represents the acquisition and sale, or the transmission of funds or data through an electronic platform. E-commerce is a paradigm shift that influences marketers and customers to improve current market processes. The significant challenges in e-commerce are the accuracy and performance factors during a business transaction, which has been substantially enhanced using Cloud Computing Techniques (CCT). The growth of e-commerce management has been increased due to massive internet penetration, and particularly small and emerging companies are increasingly using this alternative as a differentiated business model. E-commerce has significant environmental impacts and highly utilized in today's market scenario. Further, the replacement has not been thoroughly explored. Current research has been carried out to describe the e-commerce scenario to analyze market trends. This study further discusses the essential variables to the performance of market models for e-commerce. For example, e-procurement of products/services, electronic supply chain management, e-distribution and selling support (supplier connections, e-fulfilment) and online e-auctions (transactional) can represent important e-commerce capabilities, which can contribute to marketing strategy implementation effectiveness, resulting in higher export performance.
