  • Internet EC accomplish to simply electronic business from all process integration of production, marketing and customer service. Also customers gain to goods information by one-line product reference, order, product information exchange and negotiate to low cost for high quality goods. Therefore, Purpose of this study is to introduce the building method of efficient EC, helping understand EC, and analysing its present state in the Korean enterprises and efficiency on international trade information.

Exploratory Study on the Relationship between Korean Drama Watching Satisfaction and Korean Product Purchase Intention : Focused on Myanmar Consumers (한국 드라마 시청 만족도와 한국 상품구매의사간 관계에 관한 탐색적 연구 : 미얀마 소비자를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to explore the positive impact of Korean drama watching satisfaction on purchase intention for Korean products by considering the mediating roles of social distance to Korea, national image of Korea, and Korean product image. This study identified that Korean drama reduced the social distance to Korea while increasing the positive image of Koreas and Korean products. However, the reduced social distance was not positively associated with Korean product image and Korean product purchase intention. This implies that Korean dramas directly affect Korean product purchase intension and indirectly affect Korean national image and product image. This study supplies guidance to international marketers who aims to enter the Myanmar market. To use the Korean wave as a Korean product marketing tool, marketing strategies need to cover Korean culture-relevant materials such as cultural background, cultural characteristics, exposed products, and so on.

Estimating CIF-FOB Margins of Korea's Imports at Country and Product Level (한국 수입의 국가별, 품목별 CIF-FOB 마진 추정)

  • It has great significance to estimate CIF-FOB margins of international trade. It certainly helps develop statistics on transport costs of international trade and provides basic data for econometric analysis of transport costs. It also contributes much to our standing the correlation between the margins and trade partners' geographical distance as well as one between the margins and trading products. However, the quality issue of international trade statistics renders it very difficult to derive trustworthy CIF-FOB margin estimates. Utilizing various analytical approaches, this study intended to acquire credible estimates of CIF-FOB margins for Korea's total imports and for country/product specific imports data. Major findings are as follows. First, the average of CIF-FOB margins of Korea's total imports is 7.3% and is generally declining. Second, country level analysis provides credible estimates for CIF-FOB margins of Korea's imports from four partners (Japan, the US, Australia, and Brazil). The differences in margins among these four countries are caused by geographical distance and characteristics of traded products. Third, product level analysis reveals that the margins of gold and passenger vehicles are fairly low while those of primary products tend to be high.

A Comparative Study on the Types and its Importance of Trade Claims between China and the United States: Using Text Mining Techniques (중국과 미국의 무역클레임 유형과 중요도 비교 연구 : 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 활용하여)

  • This study is designed to identify the differences in the types and importance of trade claims at the national level. For analysis data, abstracts of arbitration and court judgments published on the website of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law are collected and used. The target countries are China and the United States, with 102 cases from China and 59 cases from the United States. By applying topic modeling techniques to the collection decisions of China and the United States, trade claims are categorized, and the importance of each type is identified using the network centrality index derived through semantic network analysis. The analysis results are as follows. First, the main types of trade claims were the same for both the United States and China: product nonconformity, delivery issues, and payments. However, in China, the order of product nonconformity > delivery issues > payments was important, and in the United States, payments > product nonconformity > delivery issues were found to be important. This study is significant in that it presents a strategic trade claim management plan using a quantitative methodology.

  • This article recapitulates the recent changes in trade laws, which may be accentuated due to the intriguing emergence of fortified protectionism and Mega FTAs. It points out the need to formulate not only the corporate strategy for enhancing the product differentiation and architectural capabilities but also the public policy, which comprises the industrial adjustment policy to cope with possible negative impulses caused by the digital trade and foreign direct investment. It is imperative for Korea to facilitate the alignment between corporate strategy and industrial adjustment policy as an effective means of enhancing industrial structure by nurturing those linkage effects between relevant forward and backward industries. Given the drastically volatile trade norms of multi-track trade policies, it may be a pivotal momentum for Korea to pursue a paradigm shift of its trade policy with a prime objective of achieving such an alignment between corporate strategy and industrial adjustment policy, which affords increased value-added and the further development of product or generic technology instead of resorting to the misuses and abuses of economies of scale and production technology for the maximization of export amount.

A Study on the Effect of Information Quality and Source Credibility on Product Arousal in Fresh Food Website (신선식품 유통 사이트에서 제품 정보품질과 정보원천 신뢰성이 제품환기에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims to analyze the effect of product information quality and source credibility on product arousal in fresh food website. Despite fresh food websites are selling products with various feature, prior studies have focused on consumer behavior for fresh food website characteristics or specific products without considering the feature of the products. Consumers' attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors vary depending on the feature of the product. In other words, depending on the category of product, the decision making process that consumers purchase products can be differ. So, we classify products considering the feature of these products to examine the effect of information quality and source credibility on product arousal into experience goods and search goods. We surveyed 288 consumers having experience of purchase in fresh food website and verified the hypothesis through One-way ANOVA by classifying the information quality and the source credibility as high level and low level. As a result, there was a difference in product arousal according to the product information quality level and the source credibility level for each product category exposed to the fresh food website. In experience goods, source credibility have a more important effect on product arousal than product information quality, and in search goods, product information quality have a more important effect on product arousal than source credibility.

Effect of International Trade and Business for Approval Mediated by Relationship Capabilities on Korea's Export Growth

  • Purpose - This study analyzed the effect of obtaining international products and qualification certification on exports according to the suitability evaluation system. Recently, non-tariff barriers have emerged as technical barriers, and the Biden administration is trying to achieve export growth and economic growth by utilizing the demand for conformity assessment following the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the free trade system from the perspective of Korea. Design/methodology - This study analyzed the effect of a manufacturer's product certification acquisition on a company's export performance using Resource-Based View-based multiple regression analysis. To this end, concentration validity was confirmed through Factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha, and correlation analysis was performed to verify discriminant validity. Findings - Product certification and qualification have a positive impact on the company's export performance. In particular, technological dynamism and relationship control have had a significant impact. Originality/value - Considering that the Conformity Assessment Management Act will take effect in earnest in 2022, this study is believed to suggest that companies that have been certified to meet international standards may improve their export performance and increase their value in the future.   • The purpose of this study is to examine which factors are encouraging SMEs to participate in uTradeHub(focused on the uTrade search service) in terms of product characteristics and sourcing patterns. The three factors encouraging Trade e-Marketplaces are identified in this study. First, internal factors include the support of top management, mature of IT infrastructure. Second, external factors include the pressure of industry, industry competition, dependence of trading partners. Third perception factors are perceived Usefulness, perceived easy of use. The empirical analysis had the following results. First, it reveals that support of top management, mature of IT infrastructure, industry competition have significant influence upon uTrade Search Services. On the other hand, pressure of industry, dependence of trading partners, Perceived relative benefits are not significant variable of the participation in uTrade Search Services. Second, the factors affecting the participation in uTrade Search Services are differentiated in terms of product characteristics and sourcing patterns. And the support of top management, mature of IT infrastructure, Perceived relative benefits are emphasized very important factors affecting the participation of uTrade Search Services in SMEs. The industry competition is recognized as more important factor in horizontal market in which Spot sourcing just like Operating products is trading. On the other hands, the dependence of trading partners are significant factor in vertical market in which Systemic sourcing just like Manufacturing products is trading.

Research Joint Ventures and Cartels in International Product R&D

  • Purpose - This paper analyzes how Research and Development (R&D) cartelization and Research Joint Ventures (RJV) affect firms that engage in Cournot competition in their product market using a model in which the Home and Foreign firm produce differentiated products and export their total output to a third country's market. Design/Methodology - In a two-stage game, research expenditures incurred in the first stage improve product quality and are subject to various degrees of spillovers. We consider four different scenarios. Findings - In a symmetric equilibrium we observe the following: (i) an RJV that cooperates in R&D decision yields the highest R&D expenditure. However, the scenario which yields the lowest expenditure depends on the extent of differentiation between the goods and the degree of spillovers; (ii) RJV cartelization yields the highest product quality, output, and consumer surplus in the third country; however, the lowest is produced by R&D competition if spillovers are strong and by R&D cartelization if spillovers are weak; and (iii) each firm's profit is at its minimum in R&D competition and its maximum in RJV cartelization. Furthermore, if spillovers are strong, the profit of each firm in R&D cartelization is greater than that in RJV competition, and vice versa. Originality/value - By analyzing product innovation in international markets, we can find similarities and differences between process R&D and product R&D in international markets.

Analysis on the Causes and Countermeasures of Sino-US Trade Friction

  • The study attempts to investigate the causes of Sino-U.S. trade friction in recent years and provides countermeasures accordingly. The import and export volume of two countries, the product structure of China's export, the 337th Act lawsuits related to China, the industries involved in trade friction, and the G-L Index of Sino-U.S. Products are analyzed in detail. The causes of Sino-US trade frictions are discussed from the aspect of mercantilism and trade protectionism, interest groups and governments' trade policies, Chinese product structure, intellectual property protection in China, and performance of Chinese enterprises in litigation. Based on these, countermeasures are put forward. China needs to implement industrial upgrading, increasing the added value of products, and improving intellectual property protection. A trade friction warning system also needs to be constructed. The Chinese government needs to carry out strategic dialogue and international negotiation.
