  • This study is on the development of algorithm of surge test for quality control on electrical parts of throttle body in automobiles with internal combustion engine, not only to know its condition to be good or not, but also jugding its condition to be classified into six types. To know whether its condition to be good or not, comparing and analyzing between two waveforms generated from master and test coil of throttle body. If test net area is below 20% of master area, the condition of test coil is good. By analyzing test coil waveform to master coil waveform, the condition of test coil into winding badness, insulation badness, layer and corona discharge, short badness should known. Therefore quality control system on electrical parts of throttle body should be developed.

  • This paper presents an study on the knowledge based system for diagnosing the fire causes using the Fuzzy Possibility Measure( FPM ) about the electric-fire ignition. The Ignition values needed for causes diagnosis is computed as FPM for electric-fire ignition based on the internal scale technique that assigns numerically the characteristic difference of facts to the-tin-ear scale. For the convinience of inference, ignition sources are classified into seven types : short, ground fault, leakge of electricity, overcurrent, cord junction overheating, bad Insulation and spark. The system for causes diagnosis of electric-fire is composed of Knowledge Acquisition System, Inference Engine and Man-Machine Interface, The diagnosis system is wrritten in an artificial intelligence langusge “PROLOG” which uses depth-first search and backward chaining schemes in reasoning process.

  • This paper presents an analytical method, application of expansion, mechanical design, and integrated expansion design of subsea insulated pipe-in-pipe (PIP) systems. PIP system consists of a flowline and a casing pipe for the transport of high temperature and high pressure product from the subsea wells. To prevent heat lass from the fiowline, insulation material is applied between the pipes. The fiawline pipe and the casing pipe have mechanical connections through steel ring plate (water stops) and bulkheads. Pipeline expansion is defined by temperature, internal pressure, soil resistance, and interaction force between the flowline and the casing pipe. The results of the expansion analysis, the mechanical design of connection system of the two pipes and tie-in spool design are integrated for the whole PIP system.

  • Nondestructive tests were performed on two 4.16kV motors. Epoxy-mica coupler(80pF) was connected to 4.16 kV motor stator windings. The voltage applied to the stator windings was 2.4 kV, 3.0kV, 3.5kV and 4.16kV, respectively. Digital partial discharge detector(PDD) and turbine generator analyzer(TGA) were used to measure partial discharge(PD) activity. TGA summarizes each plot with two quantities such as the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the peak PD magnitude(Qm). The PD levels in pC were measured with PDD. PD patterns of stator windings were indicated the internal discharge. PD patterns are consistent with the result of measurement using PDD and TGA.

  • Recently, use of High Voltage cables with extruded insualtion is increasing. Generally this polymeric insuation contains residual stresses. The effect of internal residual stresses is the so-called shrink-back of the insulation. If not controlled, these stresses may lead to problems during installation and service of the cables. Therefore in this paper, the definition and cause of shrinkage are described and furthermore the influence due to shrink-back at cable joint-box.

  • Heat transfer in linear motor driven stages for surface mounting device applications was investigated. A simple one-dimensional thermal resistance model (TRM) was introduced. In order to reduce three-dimensional nature to one-dimensional, a few assumptions and simplifications were employed suitably. A good agreement with a finite element heat transfer analysis in temperature profile was obtained. For validation, the analysis was compared with the measurement with respect to motor driving power. Overall discrepancy was less than 7$^{\circ}C$. The influence of two high thermal resistance parts, insulation sheet and thermal contact between the coil assembly and the mounting plate, was examined through the analysis. Additionally, the thermal resistance analysis was applied to another stage including an internal cooling-air passage, and was found available for this system as well. After validation, the cooling effect was surveyed in terms of motor power, and cooling-air and -water flow rate.

  • The interior vehicle noise due to the exterior aerodynamic field is an important topic in the acoustic design of a car. The air flow detached from the A-pillar and impacting the side windows are of particular interest as they are located close to the driver / passenger and provides a lower insulation index than the trimmed car body parts. This paper presents a numerical analysis method for a simplified vehicle model. The internal air cavity including trim component are included in the simulation. The car body includes the windshield and two side windows. The body is made of aluminum and trimmed with porous layers. The methodology proposed in this paper relies on two steps: the first step involves the computation of the exterior flow and turbulence induced non-linear acoustic field using CFD Code. The second step consists in the computation of the vibro-acoustic transmission through the window using the finite element vibro-acoustic solver Actran.

  • Recently, a large fire has occurred through a dry bit, which is a flammable exterior material, in Daebong Green Apartment Fire in Uijeongbu in 2015 and Jecheon Sports Center Fire in 2017. In this study, KS F ISO 5660-1 Cone calorimeter experiment was used to examine the fire risk of dry bit. Also, the performance of the repair and reinforcement materials to prevent fire expansion was examined. As a result, the dry bit is likely to be ignited by internal and external flower gardens, and its combustion rate and calorific value are very high. In addition, the performance of heat resistance such as ALC panel and ceramic board as a repair and reinforcement material has been proved. However, the insulation is expected to require further consideration.

  • The electrical characteristics of Epoxy Robin vary with temperature. In this study, the variation of the electric characteristics of Epoxy Resin with various hardening temperature was studied. Epoxy Resin used as samples are Epotohto YD-128 of Diglycidyl Ether of Bisphenol A (DGEBA) series and hardener, Goodmide G-240. It's mixing rate is 3 to 1. Hardening temperature was varied from 25[$^{\circ}C$] to 50[$^{\circ}C$] by 5[$^{\circ}C$]. During the hardening progress, illumination, resistivity and the internal temperature of material which were dependet on the variety of hardening temperature were measured. The electrical properties of hardened samples were examined by means of X-ray diffraction, tan $\delta$ test, TG-DTA analysis and treeing test. On this basis, optimal hardening temperature in insulation characteristics was examined.
