한국어판 감성지능 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도 검증 (The Reliability and Validity of Korean Version of Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (K-WLEIS))

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (K-WLEIS). Methods: Data were collected from 360 nursing students using a self reported questionnaire. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were used to test construct validity. Convergence validity was identified by correlation with communication competency. Item convergent and discriminant validity were also analyzed. Reliability was evaluated internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Results: The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that the eigen values ranged from 1.34 to 5.86 and 73.2% of the total explained variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed adequate model fit indices (χ2/df 1.89, RMSEA .07, GFI .89, CFI .95, and TLI .93) and standardized factor loadings (.48 to .87). The average extracted variances (.71 to .79) and composite reliability (.80 to .87) validated convergence and discriminant validity of the items. Test-retest reliability of intra-class correlation coefficient was .90 and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was .88. Conclusion: The K-WLEIS is an appropriate scale for measuring the emotional intelligence of Korean nursing students. Therefore, it is expected that the K-WLEIS will be used for nursing education programs to improve nursing students' emotional intelligence.

BSL2 Audit and Certification Program: An Effort to Harmonize and to Raise Standards in Both Laboratory Infrastructure and Biosafety Practices in Singapore

  • The critical aspects of biosafety and bio-containment have been increasingly important in recent years. Biological agents involved in biological research projects at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore are usually those with low risks. Biosafety level 2 or BSL 2 laboratories are widely used. However, biosafety measures which refer to the implementation of laboratory practices and procedures, specific construction features of laboratory facilities and safety equipment must be in place to reduce the exposure of laboratory personnel, the public or the environment to potentially infectious agents or other biological hazards. It is also required to pay more attention to laboratory-acquired infections (LAIs) which may occur in research laboratories, clinical laboratories or animal facilities. BSL 2 audit and certification program is implemented as an internal exercise covering laboratories in the university where biological agents are handled or biological research works are carried out. We have put some efforts to raise biosafety standards university-wide in both laboratory infrastructure and laboratory practices to a higher level. Common audit findings are briefly discussed in this presentation.

A Study on the Daily Life Experience of Medical Students using the Experience Sampling Method

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the daily life experiences of medical students and to explore gender differences in these experiences using the Experience Sampling Method (ESM) as the method. The instrument, the Experience Sampling Form (ESF), consisted of questions on the external and internal experiences of the respondents. Data were collected from 2,035 ESFs by 91 students (male=52, female=39) at three medical schools for one week. The data was analyzed using the statistical tests of the t-test and ${\chi}^2$ test. Activity places were significantly different by gender (${\chi}^2=16.576$, p=.001). Males spent more time in learning places such as schools, libraries, etc., whereas females spent their time in personal places, including their homes, dormitories, etc. Males undertook more learning activities than did females, and females undertook more social/leisure activities and basic life activities than did male students (${\chi}^2=18.753$, p=.001). They were in a learning place and performing learning activities. There were significant perceptual differences between males and females about their flow levels, competency levels, and difficulty levels, based on the activity type. These results can help us to understand the daily lives of medical students and can be useful in developing counseling programs and educational activities for students.

Cloud-Based Accounting Adoption in Jordanian Financial Sector

  • Cloud accounting represents a new area of accounting information systems. Past research has often focused on accounting information systems and its antecedents, rather than factors that adopt cloud accounting system. The purpose of this paper is to explain the factors that influence the adoption of cloud accounting in the financial sectors. This paper applied the technology acceptance model (TAM), technology-organization-environment, and the De Lone and Mc Lean model, coupled with proposed factors relevant to cloud accounting. The proposed model was empirically evaluated using survey data from 187 managers (financial managers, IT department managers, audit managers, heads of accounting departments, and head of internal control departments) in Jordanian bank branches. Based on the SEM results, top management support, organizational competency, service quality, system quality, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use had a positive relationship with the intention of using cloud accounting. Cloud accounting adoption positively affected cloud accounting usage. This paper contributes to a theoretical understanding of factors that activate the adoption of cloud accounting. For financial firms in general the results enable them to better develop cloud accounting framework. The paper verifies the factors that affect the adoption of cloud accounting and the proposed cloud accounting model.

공급사슬 리스크 관리에 관한 우선순위 분석 (Priority Analysis of Supply Chain Risk Management for Business Using AHP)

  • The Pandemic crisis caused by COVID-19 has raised awareness of the importance of supply chain risk management, such as the control of movement between countries and the simultaneous manufacturing paralysis in the world. Effective risk management within the supply chain of the company is a core competency in the global environment. Therefore, this study quantitatively analyzed the perspective of domestic large corporations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by using the hierarchical analysis method (AHP) to identify the factors that should be considered as the priority when establishing supply chain risk management plans for large and small business employees. In order to conduct the study, a survey was conducted on large corporations and small and medium enterprises in Gyeongnam and Busan, and AHP analysis was conducted using Microsoft 365 excel program. In addition, Mann-Whitney U test (independent sample-nonparametric test) was conducted using SPSS/18 version of statistical package program for comparative analysis between groups. As a result, the priority was highly evaluated in the order of financial ability, competitiveness, disaster in the overall priority evaluation. There were statistically significant differences in internal risk and strategic decision making of supply chain between groups. This suggests that fandemics such as COVID-19 can not be predicted, but strategic responses are needed to utilize opportunities expressed in the crisis through supply chain risk management and to increase the competitive advantage of domestic companies even in the crisis.

Do Korean Medical Schools Provide Adequate End-of-Life Care Education? A Nationwide Survey of the Republic of Korea's End-of-Life Care Curricula

  • 목적: 임상 의사가 생의 말기 '임종 돌봄(end of life care)'에 대한 진료 역량을 갖추는 것은 점차 중요해 지고 있다. 본 연구는 국내 의과대학에서 임종 돌봄에 대한 교과과정에 대해 조사하고자 하였다. 방법: 각 의과대학에서 임종 돌봄 교과과정에 책임을 지고 있는 교수들에게 교과과정에 대한 내용, 강의 시간, 강의 방법과 교과과정에 대한 태도를 설문지를 통해 분석하였다. 결과: 전체 41개 의과대학 중 27개 의과대학(66%)에서 설문에 응하였다. 모든 의과대학에서 임종 돌봄 교과과정을 단독교과목이나 다른 교과과정 중 포함시켜 교육하고 있었다. 임종 돌봄을 가르치는 시간의 중앙값은 10시간(2~32 시간 범위)였다. 가장 많이 강의 되고 있는 주제는 나쁜 소식 전하기(100%)와 증상 조절(74%)이였다. 완화의료교육과정 평가 도구(palliative care education assessment tool; PEAT)를 적용하였을 때 11개(범위: 2~26; 최대: 83)의 PEAT 목적이 만족되었다. 교육과정에 대부분 2가지 이상의 교육방법이 사용되었으나 3개 의과대학에서는 오직 강의만을 교육방법으로 사용하고 있었다. 교과과정 책임 교수의 78%가 교과과정에 대해 만족하지 않는다고 응답하였고 18%만이 임종 돌봄 강의 시간이 적당하다고 생각하였다. 단지 7%의 교수만 학생들이 임종 돌봄 관련 실제 진료를 할 수 있는 역량을 갖췄다고 답했다. 결론: 의과대학 교육과정 내에 임종 돌봄 관련 학습성과가 도출되고 이를 달성하기 위해 교육과정이 체계적으로 운영되어 졸업 후 학생들이 실제 진료 역량을 갖출 수 있도록 하는 것이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

소규모 기업에 있어서 지식소싱 전략이 기업성과에 미치는 영향 고찰 (An Examination of Knowledge Sourcing Strategies Effects on Corporate Performance in Small Enterprises)

  • Knowledge is an essential strategic weapon for sustaining competitive advantage and is the key determinant for organizational growth. When knowledge is shared and disseminated throughout the organization, it increases an organization's value by providing the ability to respond to new and unusual situations. The growing importance of knowledge as a critical resource has forced executives to pay attention to their organizational knowledge. Organizations are increasingly undertaking knowledge management initiatives and making significant investments. Knowledge sourcing is considered as the first important step in effective knowledge management. Most firms continue to make an effort to realize the benefits of knowledge management by using various knowledge sources effectively. Appropriate knowledge sourcing strategies enable organizations to create, acquire, and access knowledge in a timely manner by reducing search and transfer costs, which result in better firm performance. In response, the knowledge management literature has devoted substantial attention to the analysis of knowledge sourcing strategies. Many studies have categorized knowledge sourcing strategies into intemal- and external-oriented. Internal-oriented sourcing strategy attempts to increase firm performance by integrating knowledge within the boundary of the firm. On the contrary, external-oriented strategy attempts to bring knowledge in from outside sources via either acquisition or imitation, and then to transfer that knowledge across to the organization. However, the extant literature on knowledge sourcing strategies focuses primarily on large organizations. Although many studies have clearly highlighted major differences between large and small firms and the need to adopt different strategies for different firm sizes, scant attention has been given to analyzing how knowledge sourcing strategies affect firm performance in small firms and what are the differences between small and large firms in the patterns of knowledge sourcing strategies adoption. This study attempts to advance the current literature by examining the impact of knowledge sourcing strategies on small firm performance from a holistic perspective. By drawing on knowledge based theory from organization science and complementarity theory from the economics literature, this paper is motivated by the following questions: (1) what are the adoption patterns of different knowledge sourcing strategies in small firms (i,e., what sourcing strategies should be adopted and which sourcing strategies work well together in small firms)?; and (2) what are the performance implications of these adoption patterns? In order to answer the questions, this study developed three hypotheses. First hypothesis based on knowledge based theory is that internal-oriented knowledge sourcing is positively associated with small firm performance. Second hypothesis developed on the basis of knowledge based theory is that external-oriented knowledge sourcing is positively associated with small firm performance. The third one based on complementarity theory is that pursuing both internal- and external-oriented knowledge sourcing simultaneously is negatively or less positively associated with small firm performance. As a sampling frame, 700 firms were identified from the Annual Corporation Report in Korea. Survey questionnaires were mailed to owners or executives who were most erudite about the firm s knowledge sourcing strategies and performance. A total of 188 companies replied, yielding a response rate of 26.8%. Due to incomplete data, 12 responses were eliminated, leaving 176 responses for the final analysis. Since all independent variables were measured using continuous variables, supermodularity function was used to test the hypotheses based on the cross partial derivative of payoff function. The results indicated no significant impact of internal-oriented sourcing strategies while positive impact of external-oriented sourcing strategy on small firm performance. This intriguing result could be explained on the basis of various resource and capital constraints of small firms. Small firms typically have restricted financial and human resources. They do not have enough assets to always develop knowledge internally. Another possible explanation is competency traps or core rigidities. Building up a knowledge base based on internal knowledge creates core competences, but at the same time, excessive internal focused knowledge exploration leads to behaviors blind to other knowledge. Interestingly, this study found that Internal- and external-oriented knowledge sourcing strategies had a substitutive relationship, which was inconsistent with previous studies that suggested complementary relationship between them. This result might be explained using organizational identification theory. Internal organizational members may perceive external knowledge as a threat, and tend to ignore knowledge from external sources because they prefer to maintain their own knowledge, legitimacy, and homogeneous attitudes. Therefore, integrating knowledge from internal and external sources might not be effective, resulting in failure of improvements of firm performance. Another possible explanation is small firms resource and capital constraints and lack of management expertise and absorptive capacity. Although the integration of different knowledge sources is critical, high levels of knowledge sourcing in many areas are quite expensive and so are often unrealistic for small enterprises. This study provides several implications for research as well as practice. First this study extends the existing knowledge by examining the substitutability (and complementarity) of knowledge sourcing strategies. Most prior studies have tended to investigate the independent effects of these strategies on performance without considering their combined impacts. Furthermore, this study tests complementarity based on the productivity approach that has been considered as a definitive test method for complementarity. Second, this study sheds new light on knowledge management research by identifying the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and small firm performance. Most current literature has insisted complementary relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies on the basis of data from large firms. Contrary to the conventional wisdom, this study identifies substitutive relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies using data from small firms. Third, implications for practice highlight that managers of small firms should focus on knowledge sourcing from external-oriented strategies. Moreover, adoption of both sourcing strategies simultaneousiy impedes small firm performance.

2015 개정 과학과 교육과정에 기초한 과학과 핵심역량 조사 문항의 개발 및 적용 (Developing and Applying the Questionnaire to Measure Science Core Competencies Based on the 2015 Revised National Science Curriculum)

  • 이 연구는 2015 과학과 교육과정에 제시된 과학과 핵심역량에 관한 서술문을 기초로 학생들의 과학과 핵심역량을 측정할 수 있는 문항을 개발하고, 그 타당도와 신뢰도를 확인하기 위하여 진행되었다. 2015 과학과 교육과정에 제시된 과학적 사고력, 과학적 탐구 능력, 과학적 문제해결력, 과학적 의사소통 능력, 과학적 참여와 평생 학습 능력에 대한 설명을 근거로 각 역량별로 5개 문항씩, 총 25개 문항이 개발되었다. 개발된 문항은 전국 17개 시도에 고루 분포한 학생 참여형 과학수업 선도학교의 초등학교, 중학교, 고등학교 학생 11,348명을 대상으로 과학과 핵심역량을 조사하여 문항의 타당도와 신뢰도를 분석하였다. 타당도는 Messick(1995)이 제안한 6가지 타당도 중 내용 타당도, 실제 타당도, 내적 구조 타당도, 일반화 타당도 등 4가지를 확인하였다. 라쉬 모델의 문항 적합도(MNSQ)를 분석한 결과, 25개 문항 중 부적합 문항은 없었으며, 구조방정식을 활용한 확인적 요인 분석 결과 5개 요인 모델은 적합한 모델로 확인되었다. 성별과 학교급별에 따른 차별적 문항 반응을 분석한 결과, 부적합 값은 175개 중 2개에서 나타났다. 성별과 학교급별 다변량 이원분산분석을 실시한 결과, 학교급 간 및 성별 간에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 교호작용 효과 역시 유의미하였다. 결론적으로 2015 과학과 교육과정에 제시된 과학과 핵심역량의 설명에 기초하여 개발한 과학과 핵심역량 평가문항은 정신측정학적 관점에서 타당하며, 따라서 교육 현장에서 그 활용 가치가 있을 것으로 판단된다.

복합운송주선업 물류관리자의 자격요건에 관한 연구 (An Empirical Assessment of Competency Requirements for Logistics Managers of Freight Forwarding Companies)

  • 본 연구는 복합운송주선업에 종사하는 물류관리자들이 갖추어야 할 기술 및 자격요건이 무엇인지 파악하고, 기업 내 각 자격요건들의 관리수준을 파악하기 위해 복합운송업체들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 선행연구와 전문가집단과의 토의를 거쳐 자격요건 항목들을 추출하여 4개 그룹(물류공통, 물류전략, 물류운영, 물류기술)로 분류하였고, 추출된 항목들을 평가하기 위해 신뢰성, 요인분석, IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis)분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 복합운송주선업 물류관리자의 자격요건들 중, 고객지향성, 책임감, 의사결정능력, 의사소통능력, 물류전체프로세스 이해 등이 중요한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 항목별 관리수준은 복장, 성실성, 외국어구사능력, 성취지향성, 고객 지향성 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자격요건들의 중요도와 관리수준을 비교한 결과, 복장, 성실성, 외국어구사능력, 성취지향성, 학력수준, 문서작성 능력 등이 중요도에 비해 비중 있게 관리되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 의사소통능력, 물류원가 수익성분석, 물류컨설팅, 프레젠테이션, 다양한 업무파악능력 등은 그 중요도에 비해 상대적으로 낮은 수준의 관리를 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 향후 이 항목들을 배양할 수 있도록 물류관리자들을 독려해야 할 것으로 생각한다. 본 연구의 결과는 복합운송주선업에 근무하는 물류관리자 뿐 아니라 향후 복합운송주선업계로 진출하기를 희망하는 미래의 물류인, 물류를 전공하는 학생들, 이들을 지도하는 학자들 그리고 복합운송주선업에 진출을 계획하는 기업에게 유용한 정보가 될 것이라고 사료된다.

중국진출 한국기업 물류관리자의 자격요건에 관한 연구 (An Empirical Assessment of Competency Requirements for Logistics Managers in China)

  • 본 연구는 물류관리자들이 갖추어야할 기술 및 자격요건이 무엇인지 파악하기 위해 중국에 진출해 있는 국내기업의 물류관리자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사에 사용할 총 43개의 항목을 문헌연구 및 전문가집단과의 토의를 거쳐 추출하였고, 요인분석을 통해 이 항목들을 특성별로 4개의 그룹으로 분류하여 연구에 사용하였다. 조사 결과, 공급체인에 관한 인식정도, 의사결정능력, 분석능력, 의사소통스킬, 공급체인의 비용에 관한 지식, 대인관계기술, 정보흐름의 통합능력 등을 포함하는 물류계획그룹의 항목들이 가장 중요한 물류관리자의 자격요건인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 반면, 회수물류의 기술이나 환경관련 법규의 파악정도 등이 포함된 환경인식그룹의 항목들은 그 중요도가 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 전체적으로는 요인분석 결과 선택된 총 23개 항목 중 물류관리자들의 업무에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 밝혀진 것은 14개로 전체의 61% 정도였다. 본 연구의 결과는 물류업계로 진출하기 희망하는 미래의 물류인, 물류를 전공하고 있는 학생들, 이들을 지도하는 학자들 그리고 중국시장 진출을 계획하는 기업들에게 흥미로운 정보를 제공할 것으로 생각한다. 기업의 입장에서는 상위에 랭크된 요건들을 갖추고 있는 관리자들을 중국으로 파견할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 기업 내 교육훈련프로그램의 가이드라인으로 활용할 수도 있을 것이다. 또한, 현재 혹은 잠재적 물류관리자들이 자신들의 경쟁력을 향상시키기 위해 어떤 부분에 노력을 경주해야 하는지 판단하는 데에도 도움이 될 것으로 생각한다.
