Vector Control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor without Speed Sensor (속도센서 없는 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 벡터제어)

  • Lately, many approaches of speed sensorless control method for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) ha, been developed. This paper proposes a novel sensorless algorithm for speed estimation of IPMSM. First of all, proposes sensorless method estimates flux of rotor using foundational voltage equation of IPMSM and then estimates position and speed of rotor using Phase Locked Loop(PLL). Proposed sensorless algorithm demonstrated through simulation using Matlab simulink and experiment.

  • This paper shows the design of the 100 kW IPMSG for small hydraulic power generator. The high-efficient generator, method of the dual layer interior permanent magnet was studied to improve the method of the single layer interior permanent magnet, which is mostly used. Analysis of magnet arrangement and cogging torque was done by FEM. According to structure analysis of dual layer interior permanent magnet, the amount of usage of the permanent magnet was reduced and cogging torque was decreased as well. With these successful results, the high-efficient generator design was accomplished. Based on the results of the structure analysis, the test product was designed and manufactured. And the design values and performance outputs were compared and verified with success. Also, the economic feasibility was conducted based on the electric power generated from the test product installed at the site. By the B/C analysis, in case that only SMP was analyzed, B/C ratio was 1.24 at the discount ratio of 5.5%, which considered to be economically feasible. The study is expected to be used for the application of developing large scale high-efficient interior permanent magnet synchronous generator.

  • Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) produces two kind of torque that Magnetic and Reluctance torque. The permanent magnet linkage flux ${\Psi}_a$ and d-axis and q-axis inductances have an important influence on the torque characteristic of IPMSM. Thus their accurate prediction is essential for predicting performance aspect such as the torque and flux-weakening capabilities. In this paper, the influence of barrier width on the ${\Psi}_a$ and $L_d$, $L_q$ is calculated by FEM analysis. Predictions are validated by comparison the average torques, using Maxwell Stress Tensor method.

  • The purpose of this paper is to optimize rotor shape of interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor for high torque. V-shaped permanent magnet arrangement is applied to obtain more torque than prototype IPM. The performance, based on finite element method, is evaluated as torque per rotor volume (TRV). In this paper, response surface methodology (RSM) is used to search optimal shape of the rotor. The usefulness of RSM in optimal design of IPM motor is verified by comparing TRV between prototype and optimized V-type.

  • The characteristics of permanent magnet synchronous motor are defined by airgap flux and circuit parameters. Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) has a nonlinear characteristics due to structural speciality of rotor, so it is difficult to analyze circuit parameters and field-weakening characteristics of IPMSM. This paper presents the calculation of circuit parameters by using Finite Element Method(FEM) taken into consideration of nonlinear characteristics. Using the circuit parameters by FEM, IPMSM is analyzed to field-weakening characteristics and is compared with the Equivalent Magnetic Circuit(EMC) in which lumped parameter is consideration.

  • This paper presents a simplified analysis on the rotor position detection error in sensorless interior permanent magnet brushless DC motor (BLDCM) drives, wherein terminal voltage sensing based on the back-electromotive force (back-EMF) zero-crossing point detecting circuitry is employed. The effect of a rotor saliency on the back-EMF's zero-crossing point detection is analyzed using the extended EMF-based voltage equation of the interior permanent BLDCM in a stationary reference frame, and thus the overall analysis is considerably simplified compared to the conventional one. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper deals with characteristic analysis on the Linear Switched Reluctance Motor with Interior Permanent Magnet (LSRM-IPM) according to the magnetization of permanent magnet. The governing equations and force equations are derived using analytical method for the suggested models. This paper compares the force characteristics in terms of three cases considering the position and size of permanent magnet.

  • The inverter fed BLDC(Brushless DC) motor has been increasingly applied to industry and home appliances due to the advance of power electronics and permanent magnet technology, and its high efficiency and good acoustic noise characteristics. The BLDC motor and drives, however, require the rotor position sensors that may cause some problems such as the high cost and space. In this paper, sensorless algorithm for an interior permanent magnet BLDC motor is proposed. The maximum torque per ampere operation with advance angle considering load torque and speed was simulated and verified through the experiment.

  • The torque characteristics of permanent magnet(PM) motor is varied according to magnet width. In this paper, the design method of magnet and magnetic circuit is proposed in order to improve the torque of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM). This paper presents the effects of pole arc ratio and salient pole ratio on the torque and torque ripple in the IPMSM with concentrated winding.

  • In order to apply Interior Permanet Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) to the propulsion system of the railway transit, 110 (kW) class IPMSMs with high-power density are designed as a concentrated winding model and a distributed winding model in this study. The concentrated winding model designed in this study is 6 poles/9 slots and the distributed winding model is 6 poles/36 slots. In general, the eddy current losses in the permanent magnets of IPMSM are caused by the slot harmonics. The thermal demagnetization of the magnet by the eddy current losses at high rotational speed often becomes one of the major problems in the IPMSM with a concentrated windings especially. A design to reduce eddy current losses in permanent magnets design is important in IPMSM for the railway vehicle propulsion system which requires high-speed operation. Therefore, a method to devide the permanent magnet is proposed to reduce the eddy current losses in permanent magnet in this study. Authors analyze the variation characteristics of the eddy current losses generated in permanent magnet of the concentrated winding model by changing the number of the division of the permanent magnets.
