  • The purpose of this study is providing a usage of exterior, interior finish materials and color scheme for architectural design and the actual texture and pattern plans of finish materials from Le Corbuisier's work, Chapel Ronchamp. Chapel Ronchamp was analyzed to support the study for the interaction between texture usage and color expression. As a powerful design tool, texture, pattern and color of finish materials are very effective to alter the perception of the facade in the building. Most of architectural buildings, shapes and materials of elevations are monotonous and uniform. This study should be considered by details in the elevation of Chapel Ronchamp. As the part for developing and planning of architectural design, researching color plans and finish material is very important on real expression in the architectural space. As a result, this study will benefit in planning both the exterior and interior environments of color and finish material with texture and pattern.

  • Nowadays, our societies use digital technology in new architectural shape and space design to transcend three dimension limit so the boundary of the imagination world and actuality world has been collapsed. Traditional spatial value has been collapsed. Also indetermination and temporary assumption in time, fluidness and dematerialized, simultaneity and reiteration in image are relative with this circumstances. In architectural shape, media characteristics which secede from traditional characteristics of place tectonic value have occurred. Therefore, indifference and interests in shape, inter-permeation in interior and exterior space, homogeneous equivalence spatial extension have occurred. The purpose in this study examines dematerialized in contemporary space design and light materials and also investigates general and architectural background. The results of this study are as follows. First, circumstances of human have changed from physically limited boundary to unfixed, nonphysical, lightness and vague things. Second, casting off volume in shape and also dissembling exclusive and constructive Third, interior and exterior space by transparency intimates media possibility of information screen. Fourth, seek information and organic response, ambivalent transformation, accumulation of image and new mutual understanding system.

  • This study aimed at understanding the spatial characteristics in the Tugendhat house. For this study, it is need to analyze the early plans of the Tugendhat house design process. To analyze this, the study leads to how to effect on the real practice with the process. Therefore, this research investigates the conceptional design process of the house. There are 2 main characteristics of the interior space alternation. One is the closed spatial character on the 2nd floor, the other is the open spatial character on the 1st floor. It clearly shows the severance between interior and exterior on the 2nd floor. Each 2nd floor's space volume uses different materials so that each the space can show the individuality. On the 1st floor, however, it seems the interior is not as much open to the exterior, because the materiality and reflection of the glass, the objet of furniture and wall. In case of 1st floor, it has a complex concept as open and close character, because it is using the proper gardening elements and the relationship between the house and site. The exterior characteristic is separated the house from the ground with the podium and the slope, and this leads to have the discontinuity. The house clearly shows the spatial characteristics of the continuity and discontinuity, it proves that Mies tried to move onto modem architecture as a turning point.

  • This study aims to inspect changes of physical expression in surfaces of both building interior and exterior in contemporary architecture. Nowadays society has transformed into more complicated framework with the development of the new media and digital technology in 21 century. Surface's expressivity has been changed with design trend and material development. Although surface study has been mainly concentrated on properties of materials and structure characters, new technology and cultural acceptance enables it extend itself to a new area with various design methods, taking its place as an important contemporary architectural element. Interior surface design is expressed with several unique methods such as optical illusion, surface exposure and spacial depth and volume, and it created dynamic space within the surface itself. In case of exterior surface, whole space seems to be designed to be coordinated with structured optical illusion as well as symbolic expression. Surface's area is extends itself with the stream of the times. This study explored the nature of surfaces with categorizing and comparing them in a various views and methods.

  • The exterior system of buildings, which is the typical curtain wall, has been made with glass and metal. Theses materials, however, have weaknesses such as inadequate insulating quality, short durability, combustibility and toxic substance. On the other hand, Autoclaved Aerated Concrete(AAC) or Autoclaved Lightweight Concrete(ALC) possess the great energy efficiency and the superb insulating quality as substitute of existing exterior system materials. In this research, strength characteristics and bubble dispersion of hydrothermal synthesis process of AAC based on CaO/$SiO_2$(C/S) ratio are analyzed. C/S ratio is determinated and bubble distribution and compressive strength are studied through the test of varied water-to-solid mineral ratio(W/S). In hydrothermal synthesis program, final C/S ratio is determined as 0.7 consider of the manufacturing process and hydrothermal synthesis is done at $180^{\circ}C$ for 7 hours. The analysis shows slurry has about 2,300cP viscosity and 0.56 specific gravity therefore it is expected AAC has the appropriate facility in the manufacturing process and Hydrates of AAC's Expansion.

  • The insulation of a building envelope influences the hygrothermal performance as well as the thermal performance of the building. While most of Korean wood frame houses have an interior insulation system, the exterior insulation system with high thermal performance has recently been applied. While it can be effective in energy savings for better insulation performance, without consideration of the moisture, condensation and mould growth can occur. Therefore, in this study, hygrothermal behaviour, water content, and mould growth were analyzed using hygrothermal simulation of an exterior wall of a wood frame house with which the interior insulation and exterior insulation systems were applied. The wall layer included Wall A (Interior insulation) and Wall B (Exterior insulation). The U-values were identified as 0.173 and $0.157W/m^2K$, respectively. The total water content and OSB absolute water content of Wall A were confirmed to be higher than those of Wall B, but the absolute water content did not exceed the reference value of 20%. The moisture content of the two walls was determined to be stable in the selected areas. However, mould growth risk analysis confirmed that both Wall A and Wall B were at risk of mould growth. It was confirmed that as the indoor setting temperature decreased, the mould index and growth rate in the same area increased. Therefore, the mould growth risk was affected more by indoor and outdoor climate conditions than by the position of the insulation. Consequently, the thermal performance of Wall B was superior to that of Wall A but the hygrothermal performances were confirmed to be similar.

  • Objectives : This paper contemplates how the special features found in Moyuan as revealed in Wenyilun has continued from the Moyuan concepts of past includig Huangdineinjing. The author of this paper attempted to distinguish common and different points between the two, and how these features changed in the following generations. Methods : The concept of Moyuan as revealed in Huangdineinjing is first reviewed before laying out the concepts of Moyuan in Wenyilun by different categories. These two concepts are then compared. A Chinese medicine literature database is used in continuing this study, and materials are selected with relation to the special features of Moyuan. Results : The special feature of half-exterior half-interior found in the Moyuan in Wenyilun is similar with that in Neijing in that they both thought Moyuan existed between the stomach, the lungs, and the five organs. The concealability of Moyuan is similar with the explanation of Moyuan in Suwen nuelun, and it is related with the story of Gaohuang in Chunqiu Zuozhuan. Compared to the fact that the concept of Moyuan in Neijing is explained as that pathogenic factor enters the surface of the body in sequence, the concept of Moyuan in Wenyilun is conveyed in that the pathogenic factor conceals itself first before being divided into exterior and interior. Moyuan is also related to upright qi, and Gaohuang-yuan: origin of Gaohuang, too, is connected Shenjiandongqi: the energy that moves between the two kidnets, and also the triple burner. Conclusions : The concepts of "Half-exterior Half-interior", concealability, and "divide it into several places in half-exterior", and upright qi contained within the Moyuan in Wenyilun are studied for their origins, and this effort is anticipated to be greatly helpful in both understanding the historical contexts of Wuyouke Wenyilun and conducting studies on clinical application of Moyuan theory.

  • In contrast to apartments, detached houses offer the possibility of more than one entrance connecting interior and exterior spaces. This study examines the location, function, and use of second doors in detached houses in rural areas. The study employs survey and interviews conducted in 2015, focusing on 18 detached houses among 40 houses previously surveyed in 1995. In 1995, 21 second doors were found, while in 2015, 19 were found. The study led to the following conclusions. First, most houses did have second doors installed by 1995 or 2015. Second doors tended to be installed in kitchen and utility rooms. The function of second doors was most closely connected to the kitchen because utility rooms were placed adjacent to kitchens. Secondly, changes in the use and number of second doors were changes in family life cycle and composition, the need for new equipment facilities, the use of new architectural materials, and the installation of new second doors for extension of space. Finally, exterior spaces accessed by second doors tend to be a meeting of semi-interior or semi-exterior space and exterior space only. Those spaces tended to be designed for kitchen fixtures or to support kitchen activities.
