  • To force an aircraft to track the specified path, the generation of the smooth desired trajectory is essential. In this paper, the cubic spline function is used to generate the trajectory which passes through the specified intercept points. The simulation results show that the desired trajectory generated by the spline interpolation is very smooth and the aircraft tracks it with small position errors.

  • The analysis of the two-tone intermodulation distortion of multistage two-ports with gain and mismatching losses is presented with simplified two-port analyses and statistical viewpoint. The uncertainty obtained from unknown phase angles of the intermodulation distortion signals to the system designer is reduced using stochastic process, hence improving the accuracy of the solution. Based on the dc power dependance of third-order intercept point of each stage, the new efficient method for improving the total intercept point is also suggested with only the relation of dc power and available power gain criteria. Experimental verification on specific amplifiers used for cellular mobile communication comparing predicted and measured intercept points for various power conditions is presented.

  • The main function of intercept array sonar is to detect pulses radiated from enemy surface ships, submarines, and torpedoes. When a pulse is detected, it is a high risk situation for the own ship, so it is very important to find the target's location for the ship's maneuverability and survival. The target's location is calculated by finding the starting point of the pulse received form each sensor and calculating the time delay between sensors. In order to find starting point, the envelope of the signal is calculated and differential filtering is performed. However, since intercept array sonar has a high sampling frequency of the signal, the number of samples to be processed is large, so this process has a problem with a large computational amount. In this paper, we propose a pulse starting point calculation method using decimation for reducing computational amount. Simulations were performed while changing the decimation factor, and it was confirmed that computational amount was reduced. The proposed method is expected to be effective in real-time processing system and have advantages in resource utilization.

  • We assigned points on surface of standard roughness profile by 0.1mm along the length and measured coordinates of points. Then, the lengths of profile were measured with different scales using modified divider method. The fractal dimensions and intercepts of slopes were determined by plotting the length vs scale in log-log scale. The fractal dimensions as well as intercepts of slopes show well correlation with joint roughness coefficients(JRC). However, multiplication of the kactal dimension by intercept show better correlation with IRC and we derived a new equation to estimate JRC from fractal dimension and intercept. The crossover length in which we can determine the correct fractal dimension was between 0.3-3.2mm. We measured joint roughness of 26 natural joints and calculated JRC using the equation suggested by Tse and Cruden(1979) and new equation derived by us. IRC values calculated by both equations are almost the same, indicating new equation is effective in measuring IRC.

  • This paper derive a method to solve change point regression problems via a process for obtaining consequential results using properties of a difference-based intercept estimator first introduced by Park and Kim (Communications in Statistics - Theory Methods, 2019) for outlier detection in multiple linear regression models. We describe the statistical properties of the difference-based regression model in a piecewise simple linear regression model and then propose an efficient algorithm for change point detection. We illustrate the merits of our proposed method in the light of comparison with several existing methods under simulation studies and real data analysis. This methodology is quite valuable, "no matter what regression lines" and "no matter what the number of change points".

  • Background: Monitoring terrestrial vegetation cover condition is important to evaluate its current condition and to identify potential vulnerabilities. Due to simplicity and low cost, point intercept method has been widely used in evaluating grassland surface and quantifying cover conditions. Field-based digital photography method is gaining popularity for the purpose of cover estimate, as it can reduce field time and enable additional analysis in the future. However, the caveats and uncertainty among field-based vegetation cover estimation methods is not well known, especially across a wide range of cover conditions. We compared cover estimates from point intercept and digital photography methods with varying sampling intensities (25, 49, and 100 points within an image), across 61 transects in typical steppe, forest steppe, and desert steppe in central Mongolia. We classified three photosynthetic groups of cover important to grassland ecosystem functioning: photosynthetic vegetation, non-photosynthetic vegetation, and bare soil. We also acquired normalized difference vegetation index from satellite image comparison with the field-based cover. Results: Photosynthetic vegetation estimates by point intercept method were correlated with normalized difference vegetation index, with improvement when non-photosynthetic vegetation was combined. For digital photography method, photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic vegetation estimates showed no correlation with normalized difference vegetation index, but combining of both showed moderate and significant correlation, which slightly increased with greater sampling intensity. Conclusions: Results imply that varying greenness is playing an important role in classification accuracy confusion. We suggest adopting measures to reduce observer bias and better distinguishing greenness levels in combination with multispectral indices to improve estimates on dry matter.

  • This study is selected two points of combined sewer that occurred Fish Kill after first flush, that analyzed generation of pollutants and stream runoff generation of combined sewer overflows (CSOs) as fine weather and rainfall. In addition, this study was to analyze the relationship between CSOs and sediments, to propose measures to reduce the sediment relevant with CSOs and rainfall runoff from entering sewage treatment plants and measures for discharged directly into streams when indicate relatively good water quality after overflow. Sediments in combined sewer system was discharged about 50~80% as overflows during rainfall and we can reduce the amount of the CSOs at least 50% or more if the sewer does not exist in the sediments because of the amount of discharge about the amount of intercept has been investigated by 3~5 times. Because of velocity at sediment interval in sewer is very low, sewage velocity of about 3~5 times as much as it can increase the amount of sediment can be reduced if the separation wall is installed. Effective control of BOD overflow load is respectively 77.5%, 75.8% at first point, second point by the separation wall is installed. Drainage area greater than area in this study or many combined sewer overflows region is increased the more effective control of separation wall. Turbidity to measure changes in water quality of overflows can be used as an factor to control the intercept flows because the intercept flows(3Q) after the first flush has lowered removal efficiency and increases the operational load of sewage treatment plants. Sewage water quality after a overflow when the reasonable turbidity was measured at this point flows to excluded intercept flow(1Q) can be discharged to stream.

  • The effects of sitting pressure(${\sigma_{sit}}'$) during cementation, relative density and particle characteristics on the cohesion intercept due to cementation bonds and the confining stress inducing the breakage of cementation bonds ${p_i}'_{(BP)}$ are investigated from drained shear tests on the cemented sands confined under the isotropic stress up to 400 kPa. It was observed from the experimental results that the cemented sands, with the same density and gypsum content, show similar values of cohesion intercept and ${p_i}'_{(BP)}$, regardless of ${\sigma_{sit}}'$. Although the cohesion intercept and ${p_i}'_{(BP)}$ of cemented sands are observed to increase with increasing relative density and cementation level, the relative density appears to have more significant effect on ${p_i}'_{(BP)}$ than the cohesion intercept does. From analysing the test results of three different sands, it is shown that the smaller the particle size the larger the cohesion intercept and ${p_i}'_{(BP)}$, due to the increased number of contact points between the particles.

  • Recently, with the development of long-range / high-altitude guided weapon system for defense against ballistic missile, test range and firing altitude for guided weapons are increasing. Due to the increase in the test range and the intercepting altitude, it is expected to increase the range of safety area required for the firing test. Comparing to the foreign countries which have many desert or non-residence, in the domestic circumstances where the population is concentrated and distributed, it is more important to predict the falling area and to set the safety area for safely carry out the long-range / high-altitude intercept test. In this paper, we consider the following three points. The first is the booster fall trajectory modeling, the second is the shroud fall trajectory modeling, and finally, the debris dispersion modeling for the missile intercept. Especially, the AUTODYN model was used to predict debris falling area which produced in the high-speed guided missile intercepting test.

  • Grounding fault and short of the DC power supply systems are detected and protected by high-speed circuit breaker, linked breaking device, ground relay and fault selective device, all of which are installed and operated in substaions. however, there have been many cases in which the protective devices did not detect grounding of of the over head catenary systems on concrete support for an extended period of time. Such cases often cause severe damages to the supports with high grounding resistances. If grounding accidents occur repetitively, the earth current and the rise of earth potential can damage not only passenger and staff but also electric facilities and equipment, necessitating high cost and endeavor to restore. The following study points out various problems that can be occurred occur as a result of high impedance grounding accident, and proposes a new system which can protect and intercept them.
