Gamut Compression and Extension Algorithms Based on Observer Experimental Data

  • Gamut compression algorithms have traditionally been defined functionally and then tested with deductive methods, e.g., psychophysical experiments. Our study offers an alternative, an inductive method, in which observers judge image colors to represent the original images more accurately. We developed a computer-controlled interactive tool that modifies the color appearance of pictorial images displayed on a monitor. In experiments, observers used the tool to alter color pixels according to the region of color space to which they belonged. We created three different gamut compression algorithms based on the observer experimental data. Observer groups evaluated the performance of the newly-developed algorithms, existing gamut compression algorithms, and an image based on the average observers' results from experiments in this study. The study of gamut extension is unlike the study of gamut compression in that it mainly deals with the degree of image pleasantness as judged by observers. The results of the gamut extension experiments in this study not only make available worthwhile data but also suggest a methodology for using the observer experimental tool for future gamut extension research.

  • Internet has been widely spread out and the need of convenient mathematical expression in the internet has been in need. In this paper, we discvss how MathML and JAVA have been developed for mathematical expressions in the internet. And we introduce our JAVA applet tools that adapted the object oriented programming techniques of the MathML and JAVA. Most of our JAVA toots have been developed for linear algebra course whose method can be applied to other subject as well. Then we discuss how we use those tools and output from the use of them in our class.

Customizing Ground Color to Deliver Better Viewing Experience of Soccer Video

  • In this paper, we present a method to customize the ground color in outdoor sports video to provide TV viewers with a better viewing experience or subjective satisfaction. This issue, related to content personalization, is becoming critical with the advent of mobile TV and interactive TV. In outdoor sports video, such as soccer video, it is sometimes observed that the ground color is not satisfactory to viewers. In this work, the proposed algorithm is focused on customizing the ground color to deliver a better viewing experience for viewers. The algorithm comprises three modules: ground detection, shot classification, and ground color customization. We customize the ground color by considering the difference between ground colors from both input video and the target ground patch. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme offers useful tools to provide a more comfortable viewing experience and that it is amenable to real-time performance, even in a software-based implementation.

  • A human operator is able to perform some tasks smoothly with force feedvack for the teleoperation or a virtual device in a the virtual environments. This paper describes a virtual force generation method with which operator can feel the interactive force between virtula robot and artificial environments. A virtual force generation algortihm is applied to generate the contact force at the arbitrary point of virtual robot, and the virtual force is displayed to the human operator via a tendon master arm consisted with 3 motors. Some experiments has beencarried out to verify the effectiveness of the force generation algorithm and usefulness of the developed backdrivable master arm.

  • This paper present a method of constructing the multimedia processor architecture. The proposed multimedia processor architecture be able to handle each text, sound, and video in one chip. Also it have interactive function that is a characteristics of multimedia. Specially, the proposed multimedia processor be able to addressing nodes in memory map without software, and it is completely reconfigurable depend on data. Also it as able to process time and space common that have synchronous/asynchronous and it is able to protect continuous and dynamic media bus collision, and local and overall common memory structure. The proposed multimedia processor architecture apply to virtual reality and mixed reality.

  • 중요부하를 갖는 계통연계 인버터에서 계통이상시 독립운전으로 전환하여 중요부하에 지속적인 전력을 공급하여야 한다. 기존의 제어 방식은 독립운전시 전압제어를 계통연계시 전류제어를 하기 때문에 모드전환시 과도상태가 발생하고 단독운전 검출전에도 부하의 전압과 주파수가 변동하여 중요부하에 심각한 영향을 줄 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 모드 전환시 과도상태를 최소화하면서 단독운전 검출전에도 부하 전압과 주파수가 일정하게 유지하는 간접전류제어 기반의 계통연계 인버터에서 전압 고조파를 주입함으로써 NDZ(Non-Detection Zone)를 갖지 않는 단독운전방지 기법을 제안한다.

  • 독립부하가 존재하는 계통연계 인버터에서 LCL필터 설계시 계통으로 주입하는 전류뿐만 아니라 독립부하 전압품질도 고려되어야 한다. 또한, LCL필터의 가격과 부피측면을 고려하여 고조파 감쇠율은 기준을 만족하면서 인덕턴스와 캐패시턴스는 가능한 작게 설계하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 계통전류의 고조파 기준은 만족하고, LCL필터 모델로부터 구해지는 전달함수를 이용하여 계통연계시와 독립운전시 모두 독립부하의 전압품질이 만족하도록 필터설계를 한다. 또한, 독립부하 전압리플, 인덕터 부피, 무효전류량, 시스템 대역폭에 가중치를 적용한 LCL필터 최적설계 방법을 제안한다.

  • This paper presents a fire and smoke animation system using stable fluid animation techniques. Stable and fast fluid simulation methods are developed in PC and console games, but fluid simulation and interactive fluid models still have many problems. We studied and implemented physics-based models for fluids like fire and smoke effects using mobile 3D system. The mobile platform of our system is WIPI, which are the standard mobile platform in Korea also we adopted NF3D API for our 3D programming API.

  • Electroencephalograhic(EEG)는 심리학의 영역에서 인간 두뇌의 활동을 측정 기록하는데 오래 전부터 사용하였다. 과학의 발달함에 따라 점차적으로 인간의 두뇌에서 감정을 조절하는 기본적인 영역들이 밝혀지고 있다. 그래서 인간의 감정을 조절하는 인간의 두뇌 활동 영역들을 EEG를 이용하여 측정하였다. 본 논문에서는 EEG의 신호들과 몸짓을 이용해서 감정을 인식하였다. 특히, 기존에 생체신호나 몸짓 중 한 가지만을 이용하여 각각 실험해서 감성을 인식하였지만, 본 논문에서는 EEG 신호와 몸짓을 동시에 이용해서 피 실험자의 감성을 인식하는 실험을 하였다. 실험결과 기존의 생체신호나 몸짓 한 가지만을 가지고 실험했을 때의 인식률 보다 더 높은 인식률을 보임을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 생체신호와 몸짓들의 특징 신호들은 강화학습의 개념을 이용한 IFS(Interactive Feature Selection)를 이용하여 특징 선택을 하였다.

The Effect of Consumer Involvement on the Clothing Product Performance Recognized by Consumer (소비자관여가 소비자가 인지한 의류제품의 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Consumer involvement is one of the most important concepts in target marketing. Marketing managers seeking repeat business and a long term relationship with their consumers must understand the process underlying product evaluation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to find out the relationships between consumer involvement and product performance. Judgement sampling method through survey was utilized to collect the data and the subjects were 614 university students. Factor analysis, reliability test, and regression were used to analyze the data. The research results showed that there were three dimensions of product performance, so called, ‘aesthetic’, ‘utilitarian’, and ‘socio-interactive’. Consumer involvement was positively related to all dimensions of product performance. Understanding of the relationship between consumer involvement and product performance would contribute to build useful marketing strategies.
