In this paper, we evaluate the feasibility of a motion-based interaction for image browsing in the mobile device. We present the design of a motion-based interface and a navigation scheme. A designed interaction scheme was evaluated in a usability experiment alongside the conventional button-based interaction for image browsing. After enough training of user, the usability and the user task performance of the motion based interaction were significantly increased, approaching those of the button based interaction.
If a virtual object in a virtual environment represented by a stereo vision system could be touched by a user with some tactile feeling on his/her fingertip, the sense of reality would be heightened. To create a visual impression as if the user were directly pointing to a desired point on a virtual object with his/her own finger, we need to align virtual space coordinates and physical space coordinates. Also, if there is no tactile feeling when the user touches a virtual object, the virtual object would seem to be a ghost. Therefore, a haptic interface device is required to give some tactile sensation to the user. We have constructed such a human-computer interaction system in the form of a simple virtual reality game using a stereo vision system, a vibro-tactile device module, and two position/orientation sensors.
In this paper, we present FloatingPad, a touch pad based device with better scrolling feature and more interaction styles than a traditional touch pad. When we interact with a real object like a picture or a book, we manipulate on the object, and we also move, rotate, and flip the object. We applied this idea into a touch pad. In FloatingPad, the touch pad is not fixed to the device. It is floating on the device; it can be slid on the device. Therefore a user can have additional degree of freedom of input by shifting and rotating the touch pad while having the traditional touch pad input. By using this technique, the interactivity of the touch pad can be augmented, and better scrolling feature can be provided by reducing clutching occurs on the position scrolling devices by using the movement of the touch pad as rate control. We implemented the prototype device and conducted a user study with three applications developed for FloatingPad.
In this work, we investigated A1 cluster deposition on Al (100) surface using molecular dynamics simulation. A result of simulations showed that large cluster with low energy was proper for good surfaced-films without craters at the low temperatures. We investigated the maximum substrate temperature and the time taken for substrate temperature to reach its maximum as a function of cluster size in the case of the same total energy and in the case of the same energy Per atom. The correlated collisions play an important role in interaction between energetic cluster and surface, and as cluster size and cluster energy increases, the correlated collisions effect affects interaction between energetic cluster and surface.
Over the last decade, interactive devices such as mobile phones have become complicated drastically mainly because of feature creep, the tendency for the number of features in a product to rise with each release of the product. One of the ways to reduce the complexity of a multi-functional device is to design it consistently. Although the definition of consistency is elusive and it is sometimes beneficial to be inconsistent, in general, consistently designed systems are easier to learn, easier to remember, and causing less errors. In practice, however, it is often not easy to design the user interaction or interface of a multi-functional device consistently. Since the interaction design of a multi-functional device should deal with a large number of design variables and relations among them, solving this problem might be very time-consuming and error-prone. Therefore, there is a strong need for a well-developed methodology that supports the complex design process. This study has developed an effective and efficient methodology, called CUID (Consistent Design of User Interaction), which focuses on logical consistency rather than physical or visual consistency. CUID deals with three main problems in interaction design: procedure design for each task, decisions of available operations(or functions) for each system state, and the mapping of available operations(functions) and interface controls. It includes a process for interaction design and a software tool for supporting the process. This paper also demonstrates how CUID supports the consistent design of user interaction by presenting a case study. It shows that the logical inconsistencies of a multi-functional device can be resolved by using the CUID methodology.

Due to the development of internet technology, the online business trade becomes an active area. Online negotiation supporting systems have been developing very actively in recent years to meet the growing needs. We have been studying on the effect that the haptic device brings about in interaction through online negotiation between two parties. In order to meet the online negotiation's requirements, the developed interface should be able to protect user's anonymity, convey user's emotion and make the scene alive. In this study, we adopt haptic interaction as a means of conveying emotion in an online negotiation between Japanese and Chinese people. In this study, our goal is to investigate the effectiveness of haptic interaction in communications between Chinese and Japanese users and analyze the characteristis in operation the haptic device. We conducted online negotiation experiments with and without haptic interaction . The comparison experiments results show that the haptic feedback can help to convey the emotion and the sense of presence. The Chinese subjects' feedback for the questionaire concerning the emotional communication and the sense of presence varies slightly compared to the Japanese subjects. We also found when using the haptic device, the force feedback can influence subject's feelings. There is little significant difference between the advanced and the medium subjects in negotiation dialogues and the haptic device's operation, the beginner subjects are slightly at a disadvantage.

Interactive media is a method of communication in which the output from the media comes from the input of the users. The interactive media lets the user go back with the media. Interactive media works with the user's participation. The media still has the same purpose but the user's input adds the interaction and brings interesting features to the system for a better enjoyment. We need a digital content using a dynamic motion and gesture of the mobile device. We made an authoring tool for content producers to easily create interactive content. We have tried to take advantage of the interaction by using a touch screen and a gravity sensor of the mobile device. This interaction may lead to allow the user to participate in the content, it can be used as a key device to assist in engagement. Furthermore, our authoring tool can be applied to various fields of publishing content.

Strongly correlated electron systems which induce strong electron-electron interaction at ultra-low temperatures have always been an intriguing topic in mesoscopic condensed matter physics. Below 130 mK, a peculiar gap can be found in Al/$SiO_2$/Si:P structured tunnelling devices. The gap survives at the base temperature of more than 1800 gauss (30 mK), contrary to the superconductivity of the top Al electrode, which is completely suppressed above 100 gauss. This outcome implies that the observed gap is induced by Coulomb interaction in the heavily doped Si.

본 논문에서는 주관적 3D quality of experience (QoE) 평가에 적합한 IACQE (Interactive Assistance Continuous Quality Evaluation) 방법을 제안한다.
