In this study, a fundamental investigation was made on how to use LiDAR technology to determine the degree of weathering and alteration of rock mass. The purpose of the study was to identify the affecting parameters to LiDAR intensity and to quantitatively assess the relations among them through laboratory-scale experiment. A few potential affecting parameters were selected including scanning distance, incidence angle, surface roughness, surface color, mineral composition, and water saturation. In the experiment, FARO LiDAR unit was used for twelve different types of specimen. It was observed that the intensity was affected by, in the order of importance, surface color, incidence angle, scanning distance, property of rock, water condition, and surface roughness.

The earthquake data(M$\geq$4.0) for post-1900 in the Korean Peninsula show temporal variation with active and quiet periods. The pattern is quite similar to northeastern China and Inner Zone of Southwest Japan. Yeongweol earthquake occurred in the seismic gap region of the Korean Peninsula. This is the first medium-size earthquake in inland region of the southern peninsula since 1978. The intensity based on the felt area estimation of about 400 places shows MMI III-Ⅷ in inland region. IIon Cheju Island and Ion Ulreung Island. The isoseismal of MMI Ⅶ shows an elongated circle in the direction of NE-SW and covers some parts of Jungdong-myon, Yeongweol-kun, Sindong-eup and Nam-myun, Jeongseon-kun. There occurred quite strong shaking, numerous cracks on the walls of buildings, falling and movement of slate and tiles on the roofs, falling of tiles from the wall and falling of materials from desks, rook falling from mountain and collapse of gravel lauers on the river side. The least square fitting of the intensity data of the Yeongweol earthquake by a popular intensity attenuation relation yields the following : I=Io+1.82249 - 0.65295*InR - 0.00707*R
An optical fiber displacement sensor has the advantages of relatively simplicity, cheap, small probe size and immunity against environmental perturbation. The working principle of the sensor is based on the intensity modulation that is detection light intensity reflecting from the surface being measured. This paper presents the mathematical model of displacement measurement mechanism of this sensor type. The theoretical and experimental data are compared to verify the model in describing the realistic approach to sensor design. Finally, the analysis results show that displacement response characteristics such as sensitivity, measuring range are easily modified by principal design parameters such as magnitude of optical Power, diameter of optical fiber core and distance between transmitting fiber and receiving fiber.
In Tris-iso-butanol (TIB; Tris buffer pH 8.8 and 1% iso-butanol)-treated chloroplasts, oxygen evolving activity was more inhibited than Tris-treated chloroplasts, but restored highly by 2,6-dichlorophenol-indophenol (DCPIP) and photoreactivation. To understand the mechanism of this results of TIB in photosynthetic electron transport, system, oxygen consumption and evolution of PS I and PS II were measured and protein of the chloroplasts was analysed. In Tris- and TIB-treated chloroplasts, oxygen evolving activity was increased according to the light intensity. Under 48 W·m-2 light intensity, the oxygen evolving activity in both chloroplasts were similar but as the light intensity was increased, TIB-treated chloroplasts showed higher activity. Under 240 W·m-2 light intensity, TIB-treated chloroplasts showed about 25% higher oxygen evolving activity than Tris-treated chloroplasts. Oxygen evolving activity was increased after photoreactivation in both Tris-treated and TIB-treated chloroplasts. Addition of NH4Cl increased the activity in both chloroplasts but in TIB-treated chloroplasts the increase was 30% higher than that in Tris-treated chloroplasts. In PS I, oxygen evolving activity was not inhibited by both treatments whereas in PS II, significant difference was observed between two treatments. Addition of Mn2+ and Ca2+ enhanced oxygen evolution in both Tris- and TIB-treated chloroplasts. Though enhancement was higher in TIB-treated chloroplasts. No difference was observed n protein analysis of the two thylakoid membrane.
YAG:Ce yellow phosphor particles were synthesized by spray pyrolysis with changing the solution properties and their luminous properties, crystal structure, and morphological changes were studied by using PL measurement, XRD, and SEM analysis. It was clear that the solution properties significantly affected the crystal phase, crystallite size, the PL intensity, and the morphology of YAG:Ce particles. At low calcination temperature, the addition of urea only to the spray solution was helpful to form a pure YAG phase without any impurity phases, as the result, the highest luminescence intensity was achieved at the calcination temperature of $900^{\circ}C$. When the calcination temperatures were larger than $1300^{\circ}C$, however, the YAG particles prepared without any additive showed the highest luminescent intensity. Regardless of the solution conditions, the emission intensity of YAG:Ce particles prepared by spray pyrolysis showed a linear relation with the crystallite size. In terms of the morphology of YAG:Ce particles, the addition of both DCCA and $NH_4OH$ to the spray solution was effective to prepare a spherical and dense structured YAG particles.
The gelation for di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)-plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) was studied by measuring time-resolved small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and a flow of the solutions in test tube. It was found that for the gelation there were three regimes. At Regime I, the solution rapidly changed to a gel, and the SAXS intensity showed a peak and the peak intensity increased, keeping the peak angle constant. Applying the SAXS intensity to the kinetic analysis of the liquid-liquid phase separation, it was revealed that the spinodal decomposition proceeded to develop a periodic length of 29.9 nanometer in size, a hydrogen-bonding-type association in polymer rich phase followed, and then it induced fast gelation rate. At Regime II, the gelation slowly occurred and the SAXS intensity was not observed, suggesting that a homogeneous gel network was formed by a hydrogen-bonding. At regime III, the solution was a homogeneous sol.
The overarching objective of this study is to predict the convective heat transfer around a human body under forced strong airflow conditions assuming a strong wind blowing through high-rise buildings or an air shower system in an enclosed space. In this study, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses of the flow field and temperature distributions around a human body were carried out to estimate the convective heat transfer coefficient for a whole human body assuming adult male geometry under forced convective airflow conditions between 15 m/s and 25 m/s. A total of 45 CFD analyses were analyzed with boundary conditions that included differences in the air velocity, wind direction and turbulence intensity. In the case of approach air velocity $U_{in}=25m/s$ and turbulent intensity TI = 10%, average convective heat transfer coefficient was estimated at approximately $100W/m^2/K$ for the whole body, and strong dependence on air velocity and turbulence intensity was confirmed. Finally, the formula for the mean convective heat transfer coefficient as a function of approaching average velocity and turbulence intensity was approximated by using the concept of equivalent steady wind speed ($U_{eq}$).
This study examined the use of LIT (lock-in infrared thermography) to detect defects in the welded parts of ships and offshore structures. A quantitative analysis was used with the filtering and texture measurement of image processing techniques to find the optimized experimental condition. We verified the reliability of our methods by applying image processing techniques in order to normalize the evaluations of comparative images that showed a phase difference. In addition, it was found that a low to mid-range intensity of light exposure on the surface showed good results, whereas high exposure did not provide significant results. A lock-in frequency of around 0.1 Hz was satisfactory regardless of the intensity of the light source. In addition, making the integration time of the thermography camera inversely proportional to the intensity of the exposed light source during the experiment provided good results.

The high loading combustion is accomplished by making the turbulent intensity strong and the scale small in the premixed combustor. The Da-mkoler number, which is decreased by short turbulent characteristic time or by long chemical reaction time, can make the distributed reaction flame. So we developed a doubled jet burner for high loading combustion. The doubled jet burner was designed to make the scale of the flame small by the effect of impingement and increasing shear stress with doubled jet. We investigated the turbulence characteristics of unburned mixture and visualized several flames with the typical schlieren photography. Then we studied the influence of several factors that related the scale of flame. Consequently, the doubled jet burner can make the eddy very small. And we can obtain the detail information of the flame scale through ADSF(the Average Distance between Successive Fringes) in the micro- schlieren photography. The ADSF is not a exact flame scale, but it has qualitative trend with increasing turbulent intensity. The ADSF is diminished remarkably with increasing turbulent intensity. The reason is that strong turbulent intensity makes the flame zone thick and flamelets numerous. We can confirm this fact by the signal analysis of ion currents.
In this paper, an iterative MAP approach using a Bayesian model based on the lognormal distribution for image intensity and a GRF for image texture is proposed for despeckling the SAR images that are corrupted by multiplicative speckle noise. When the image intensity is logarithmically transformed, the speckle noise is approximately Gaussian additive noise, and it tends to a normal probability much faster than the intensity distribution. MRFs have been used to model spatially correlated and signal-dependent phenomena for SAR speckled images. The MRF is incorporated into digital image analysis by viewing pixel types as slates of molecules in a lattice-like physical system defined on a GRF Because of the MRF-SRF equivalence, the assignment of an energy function to the physical system determines its Gibbs measure, which is used to model molecular interactions. The proposed Point-Jacobian Iterative MAP estimation method was first evaluated using simulation data generated by the Monte Carlo method. The methodology was then applied to data acquired by the ESA's ERS satellite on Nonsan area of Korean Peninsula. In the extensive experiments of this study, The proposed method demonstrated the capability to relax speckle noise and estimate noise-free intensity.
