  • Smart structures are those structure that could adopt some behavior to prevent instability in their responses. The recognition of stability deterioration has been performed through rigid mathematical formulations in control theory and unpredicted results could not be addressed in control systems since they are able to only work under their predefined condition. On the other hand, incorporating all affecting parameters could result in high computational cost and delay time in the response of the systems. Artificial intelligence (AI) method has shown to be a promising methodology not only in the computer science by at everyday life and in engineering problems. In the present study, we exploit the capabilities of artificial intelligence method to obtain frequency response of a smart structure. In this regard, a comprehensive development of equations is presented using Hamilton' principle and first order shear deformation theory. The equations were solved by numerical methods and the results are used to train an artificial neural network (ANN). It is demonstrated that ANN modeling could provide accurate results in comparison to the numerical solutions and it take less time than numerical solution.

  • Using artificial intelligence and internet of things methods in engineering and industrial problems has become a widespread method in recent years. The low computational costs and high accuracy without the need to engage human resources in comparison to engineering demands are the main advantages of artificial intelligence. In the present paper, a deep neural network (DNN) with a specific method of optimization is utilize to predict fundamental natural frequency of a cylindrical structure. To provide data for training the DNN, a detailed numerical analysis is presented with the aid of functionally modified couple stress theory (FMCS) and first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The governing equations obtained using Hamilton's principle, are further solved engaging generalized differential quadrature method. The results of the numerical solution are utilized to train and test the DNN model. The results are validated at the first step and a comprehensive parametric results are presented thereafter. The results show the high accuracy of the DNN results and effects of different geometrical, modeling and material parameters in the natural frequencies of the structure.

  • Despite the relatively short history of Social Network Sites or Services (SNS), it has quickly gained popularity with more than seven hundred million users all over the globe. The SNS emerged as one of the strongest cultural influences for the contemporary society. The SNS would provide both chances and challenges for Education. The main purpose of the article was to explore the way education react and adapt to the emergence of social network and SNS. It tried to provide major theoretical grounds that bridge education and social network. In the due process, the researchers have examined the curriculum and instructional design process of education from the perspective of disruptive and sustainable aspect of SNS technology. Consequently, four major theoretical grounds were identified and reviewed: Gibson's theory of affordance, Vygotsky's social constructivism, Rha's human visual intelligence theory, and the network theory. By investigating these theories, the educational potentials of social network and SNS were emerged. The SNS was viewed as a new medium with abundant potentials of expanding the learning space, empowering the affective aspects of learning, and facilitating the formation of group intelligence. Finally, some future implications and challenges of SNS were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the design direction of artificial intelligence convergence liberal arts subjects based on flip learning and maker education through analysis of learner needs in a non-face-to-face classroom environment caused by COVID-19. To this end, we analyzed the priorities of subject content elements by using the Borich needs assessment and The Locus for Focus model along with students' perceptions of flip learning for students who took and did not take maker education-based liberal arts courses. Based on this, it was used as basic data for designing the curriculum. The study results are as follows. First, the content elements of the artificial intelligence liberal arts curriculum based on maker education consisted of a total of 9 areas and were designed as a class using flip learning. Second, the areas with the highest demand for education are 'Artificial Intelligence Theory', 'Artificial Intelligence Programming Practice', 'Physical Computing Theory', 'Physical Computing Practice', followed by 'Convergence Project', '3D Printing Theory', '3D Printing practice' was decided. Third, most of the questionnaires regarding the application of flip learning in maker education-based artificial intelligence liberal arts subjects showed positive responses regardless of whether they took the course, and the satisfaction of the students was very high. Based on this, an artificial intelligence-based convergence liberal arts curriculum using flip learning and maker education was designed. This is meaningful in that it provides an opportunity to cultivate artificial intelligence literacy for college students by preparing the foundation for artificial intelligence convergence education in liberal arts education by reflecting the needs of students.

  • In this study, the educational effect were sought to be identified after developing and applying project learning for the artificial intelligence based liberal arts education for the non-computer majors. A paired-sample t-test was performed within each group to determine the extent of improvement in the learning flow and artificial intelligence efficacy in the experimental and control groups. After class, an independent sample t-test was performed to examine the statistical effects of pre-test and post-test on the learning flow and artificial intelligence efficacy in the experimental and control groups. The experimental group and control group demonstrated significant improvements in the learning flow and artificial intelligence efficacy before and after class, each respectively. There was no statistically significant difference in the learning flow between the experimental group for which the project learning method was applied and the control group for which only theory and practice were conducted in the artificial intelligence class. It was also confirmed that the experimental group for which the project learning method was applied improved the efficacy of artificial intelligence to a significant level compared to the control group which only proceeded with theory and practice.
