  • Purpose : Although quantitative research on alcohol consumption among nursing students is important, qualitative research is needed to determine the subjective views of individual students, such as their feelings and thoughts, and ensure the implementation of a targeted alcohol intervention program. Q-methodology is a systematic approach that examines the subjective perspectives of individuals, including their views, beliefs, and attitudes, enabling understanding of the types and characteristics according to the individual's subjectivity structure. This study examined the subjective perceptions of drinking among freshmen in nursing college using Q methodology. Methods : Q-sorting was conducted, collecting 38 P samples and 40 statements. The data were analyzed using the PC QUANL program. The principal component factor analysis method was used for Q-factor analysis. Results : The results identified four types of drinking perceptions among freshmen in nursing college. Type 1 was "safety and health pursuit," type 2 was "friendship pursuit," type 3 was "'norm-oriented," and type 4 was "sound manners." When looking at the subjective perceptions of drinking among freshmen in nursing college, there was a common opinion that drinking should not be forced and that it is an individual choice. However, the difference in views (positive and negative) of drinking shows the need for customized educational programs and interventions suitable for each type. Conclusion : Nursing freshmen should be prepared to play an important role in health care as an educational role and model in preventing damage from drinking and maintaining health promotion throughout their life by habituating proper drinking behavior during college life. In addition, it is necessary to develop a plan to increase positive awareness of drinking among nursing students through various strategic programs that can participate in sobriety prevention programs within the university.

The primary focus is on assessing the efficacy of each intervention approach and identifying gaps in the existing literature. Methods : Data for this study were gathered from the domestic database RISS from January 2013 to March 2020, and international databases Pubmed and Google Scholar were utilized. The keywords for domestic literature search included 'occupational therapy', 'handwriting', and 'school-aged', while for international literature search, the keywords were 'occupational therapy', 'handwriting', and 'children'. A total of 4 international and 2 domestic articles were selected for review based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results : The study findings present a thorough comparative analysis of intervention strategies, categorizing them into task-oriented intervention, sensory-motor intervention, and integrated intervention. All intervention methods demonstrated notable improvements in the legibility of handwriting. Comparison between domestic and international literature revealed a predominant use of task-oriented intervention in domestic studies, while international studies showcased a diverse range of intervention methods. Conclusion : Interventions were categorized into computer-based, task-oriented, sensory-motor, and integrated interventions. Task-oriented interventions were the most common in both domestic and international studies, while integrated interventions were the most effective. Based on these findings, it is necessary to increase awareness of the need for handwriting intervention research among occupational therapists in Korea. Additionally, there is a need for well-supported handwriting intervention research with larger sample sizes in both domestic and international occupational therapy. Finally, future research should actively investigate the application of tailored integrated interventions for school-aged children with handwriting difficulties.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficiency of general ward nurses in hospitals using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Methods: Participants were 30 nurses working at a general ward. Input variables were labor cost and time of direct nursing. Output variables were prevention rate of medication error and bedsores, and patient satisfaction. These variables were extracted using literature review and CVI of an expert group. Data were collected from September 18 to October 7, 2017. Data were analyzed using EMS 3.1 program for DEA and descriptive statistics. Results: The average efficiency score of 30 nurses was 0.986, which was very high over all. In the super-efficiency analysis of 11 nurses, their efficiency ranged from 1.0 to 1.047. In addition, when the current output was fixed, the labor cost of nurses did not affect efficiency. Conclusion: This study attempted a new approach concerning performance evaluation of nurses using DEA. This method was useful during appraisal of nurses. We suggest that various input and output variables that were not considered in this study should be added to develop a integrative performance analysis model for nurses.

  • Filenchus cylindricus (Thorne & Malek, 1968) Niblack & Bernard, 1985 was reported from the sandy rhizospheric soils of Poa pratensis and for the first time in Korea. Females and males are molecularly characterized and morphological and morphometric data supplied. Identification was made using an integrative approach considering morphological characteristics and inferences drawn from the analyses of the D2-D3 expansion segment of 28S rRNA and ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 of rRNA partial sequences. Females and males from Korea conform to the type descriptions and also to subsequent species descriptions from Iowa and Colorado USA, Sudan and Pakistan. Despite the close morphological and morphometric similarities with F. thornei (Andrássy, 1954) Andrássy, 1963, the two species can be adequately differentiated based on molecular data inference.

  • There have been a number of expert systems which are concerned with the design of machine elements such as gear, shaft, bearing and so on. However the design of more complicated systems such as gear dreives are still difficult. Thus, in consideration of the integrative nature of the system, we develop a design support system for gear drives which is composed of various machine elements-gear, shaft, bearing, key and so on. Design systems for each machine element are developed and integrated through object-oriented approach. Databases essential for data reference and/or data control in the design process are built up independently and interface to the main program. Expert systems are also developed and integrated for intelligent support to the designer, in those of the determination of gear specification and the selection of bearing types. Through the integration of design environment for each machine element, it is expected to increase the convenience in the design process and the stability of the design solution. And also the system management, including addition of various design/analysis modules and expansion to the gear drives of other types, can be conveniently achieved since the system has developed under due consideration of its efficiency and expandability through object-oriented programming approach.

  • This study investigated Austenite Grain Size (AGS) distribution in Low-Speed Round-Oval Rolling. Rolling experiments were done along with the AGS numerical modeling to characterize the final AGS distribution and its kinetics behavior. For bar rolling experiment, we utilized the pilot rolling mill, operating at 34 fixed rpm, at POSCO Technical Research Laboratories. To investigate the microstructural observation, the rigid-viscoplastic finite element analysis was combined with Hodgson's AGS evolution model. To consider the transient thermal history in the integrative AGS modeling, additivity rule was introduced. The integrated analysis revealed that static or meta-dynamic recrystallization is responsible for the AGS difference in the inner or outer region of rolled bar. Comparative study showed that the current AGS modeling approach can be used to model the overall AGS distribution in bar rolling processes. For more accurate AGS prediction, the AGS modeling method should be verified under the various rolling conditions such as different rolling speeds and different deformations.
