This study investigated the applicability of generalized TOPMODEL approach which introduces the power law of decreasing transimissivity with depth instead of the traditional exponential decreasing function. The 50m digital elevation model(DEM) of Dongkog subwatershed at Wichon Test Watershed was used to perform runoff simulation. Random number generation algorithm was integrated into the calibration process for the reliable of model performance. General power law version of TOPMODEL with exponent 2 and 3 showed higher simulation efficiency than other the approaches. This results from the fact that the power law models with exponent 2 and 3 can represent the soil characteristics of study area better than other models.

According to the trends of electronic package to be smaller, thinner and more integrative, Flip Chip Ball Grid Array (FCBGA) become more used for mobile phone. However, the flip chip necessarily generate the heat by the electrical resistance and generated heat is increased due to reduced distribution area of the heat in accordance with the miniaturization trend of the package. Thermal issues can result in problems of devices that are sensitive to temperature and stress. Then the heat can generate problems to the system. In this paper, in order to improve the thermal issues of FCBGA, thermal characteristics of FCBGA was analyzed qualitatively by using the general heat transfer module of Comsol 3.5a and In order to solve thermal issues, flip chip with new micro structure is proposed by the simulation. and also by comparing existing model and analyzing variables such as pitch, height of the pattern and shape of the heat spreader, the improvement of heat dissipation characteristics about 18% was confirmed.

Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) enable their users to access Cloud computing and storage services from anywhere in quick and flexible manners through the Internet. With the basis of 'pay-as-you-go' model, it makes the interactions between CSPs and the users play a vital role in shaping the Cloud computing market. A pool of virtualized and dynamically scalable Cloud services that delivered on demand to the users is associated with guaranteed performance and cost-provisioning. It needed a costing scheme for determining suitable charges in order to secure lease pricing of the Cloud services. However, it is hard to meet the satisfied prices for both CSPs and users due to their conflicting needs. Furthermore, there is lack of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that allowing the users to take part into price negotiating process. The users may lose their interest to use Cloud services while reducing CSPs profit. Therefore, this paper proposes a generic costing scheme for Cloud services using General Equilibrium Theory (GET). GET helps to formulate the price function for various services' factors to match with various demands from the users. It is initially determined by identifying the market circumstances that a general equilibrium will be hold and reached. Specifically, there are two procedures of agreement made in response to (i) established equilibrium supply and demand, and (ii) service price formed and constructed in a price range. The SLAs in our costing scheme is integrated to satisfy both CSPs and users' needs while minimizing their conflicts. The price ranging strategy is deliberated to provide prices' options to the users with respect their budget limit. Meanwhile, the CSPs can adaptively charge based on users' preferences without losing their profit. The costing scheme is testable and analyzed in multi-tenant computing environments. The results from our simulation experiments demonstrate that the proposed costing scheme provides better users' satisfaction while fostering fairness pricing in the Cloud market.

This paper presents low power and high frequency design of instructions using ad-hoc techniques at transistor level for full custom and semi-custom ASIC(Application Specific Integrated Circuit) designs. The proposed design has been verified at high level using Verilog-HDL and simulated using ModelSim for the logical correctness. It is then observed at the layout level using LASI using $0.25{\mu}m$ technology and analyzed for timing characteristic under Win-spice simulation environment. The result shows the significant reduction up to $35\%$ in the power consumption by any general purpose processor like RISC or CISC. A significant reduction in the propagation delay is also observed. increasing the frequency for the fetch and execute cycle for the CPU, thus increasing the overall frequency of operation.

In this paper, we propose the bandwidth borrowing scheme which improves the performance of the cal admission control of the integrated GEO satellite networks. In general, target transmission rates of communications and streaming services are fixed, but data services do not have the target transmission rates. Therefore, we can control the transmission rates for data services flexibly according to the system loading situation. When the available bandwidth of the system is insufficient, the bandwidth borrowing scheme gives the bandwidth to request real time services by the transmission rates control of data services through packet scheduler. We make the queueing model for our system model and demonstrate the results through simulations. The simulation results show that there is a 8.7-35.2 dB gain at the total blocking probability according to the use of bandwidth borrowing scheme.

In hot strip rolling, a capability for precisely predicting roll force is crucial for sound process control. In the past, on-line prediction models have been developed mostly on the basis of Orowan's theory and its variation. However, the range of process conditions in which desired prediction accuracy could be achieved was rather limited, mainly due to many simplifying assumptions inherent to Orowan's theory. As far as the prediction accuracy is concerned, a rigorously formulated finite element(FE) process model is perhaps the best choice. However, a FE process model in general requires a large CPU time, rendering itself inadequate for on-line purpose. In this report, we present a FE-based on-line prediction model applicable to precision process control in a finishing mill(FM). Described was an integrated FE process model capable of revealing the detailed aspects of the thermo-mechanical behavior of the roll-strip system. Using the FE process model, a series of process simulation was conducted to investigate the effect of diverse process variables on some selected non-dimensional parameters characterizing the thermo-mechanical behavior of the strip. Then, it was shown that an on-line model for the prediction of roll force could be derived on the basis of these parameters. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model was examined through comparison with measurements from the hot strip mill.

This study proposes a penetration model in soil considering the wake separation and reattachment based on the integrated force law (IFL). Rigid body dynamics, the IFL, and semi-empirical resistance function about soil are utilized to formulate the motion of the hard projectile. The model can predict the trajectory in soil considering the spherical cavity expansion phenomenon under various oblique angles and angles of attack (AOA). The Mohr-Coulomb yield model is utilized as the resistance function of the soil. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed model, a comparative study is conducted with experimental results described in the open literature. From the comparative study, the penetration depth estimated from the proposed model had about 13.4% error compared to that of the experimental results. In general, the finite element method is widely used to predict the trajectory in soil for a projectile. However, it takes considerable time to construct the computational model for the projectile and perform the numerical simulation. The proposed model only needs to the dimension of the projectile and can predict the trajectory of the projectile in a few seconds.
For the assesment of pollutant loads, a monitoring has been conducted to identify hydrologic conditions and water quality of the Oenam watershed in Juam Lake, and the SWAT model integrated with GIS was applied to the watershed and evaluated for its applicability through calibration and verification using observed data. For the model application, digital maps were constructed for watershed boundary, land-use, soil series, digital elevation, and topographic input data of the Oenam watershed using Arcview. The observed runoff was 832.8 mm while the simulated runoff was 842.8 mm in 2003. The model results showed that the simulated runoff was in a good agreement with the observed data and indicated reasonable applicability of the model. In terms of nutrient load, the simulation results of T-N, T-P showed a similar trend to observed values. The observed T-N load was 10.8 kg/ha and the simulated T-N load was 7.6 kg/ha while the observed T-P load was 0.21 kg/ha and the simulated T-P load was 0.18 kg/ha. In general, SWAT model predicted observed runoff and loads of T-N and T-P after calibration with observed data in acceptable range. Overall, SWAT model was satisfactory in estimation of nutrient pollutant loads of the rural watershed.

In this paper, a new virtual-straight line parameter determination methodology and fast time domain simulation technique for non-uniform interconnects are presented and verified. Time domain signal response of interconnects circuit considering the characteristic of non-linear transistor is performed by using model order reduction method. Since model order reduction method is peformed by using per unit length parameters, virtual- straight line parameters for non-uniform interconnects are determined. Its method is integrated into Berkeley SPICE and shown that time domain signal responses using proposed method have a good agreement with the results of conventional circuit simulator HSPICE. The proposed method can be efficiently employed in the high-performance VLSI circuit design since it can provide a fast and accurate time domain signal response of complicated multi - layer interconnects.
It is becoming more and more important to develop safety-critical systems with special attention. Examples of the safety-critical systems include the mass transportation systems such as high speed trains, airplanes, ships and so forth. Safety critical issues can also exist in the development of atomic power plants that are attracting a great deal of attention recently as oil prices are sky-rocketing. Note that the safety-critical systems are in general large-scale and very complex for which case the effects of adopting the systems engineering (SE) approach has been quite phenomenal. Furthermore, safety-critical requirements should necessarily be realized in the design phase and be effectively maintained thereafter. In light of these comments, we have considered our approach to developing safety-critical systems to be based on the method combining the systems engineering and safety management processes. To do so, we have developed a design environment by constructing a whole life cycle model in two steps. In the first step, the integrated process model was developed by integrating the SE (ISO/IEC 15283) and systems safety (e.g., hazard analysis) activities and implemented in a computer-aided SE tool environment. The model was represented by three hierarchical levels: the life-cycle level, the process level, and the activity level. As a result, one can see from the model when and how the required SE and safety processes have to be carried out concurrently and iterately. Finally, the design environment was verified by the computer simulation.
