A Link Between Integrals and Higher-Order Integrals of SPN Ciphers

  • Integral cryptanalysis, which is based on the existence of (higher-order) integral distinguishers, is a powerful cryptographic method that can be used to evaluate the security of modern block ciphers. In this paper, we focus on substitution-permutation network (SPN) ciphers and propose a criterion to characterize how an r-round integral distinguisher can be extended to an (r+1)-round higher-order integral distinguisher. This criterion, which builds a link between integrals and higher-order integrals of SPN ciphers, is in fact based on the theory of direct decomposition of a linear space defined by the linear mapping of the cipher. It can be directly utilized to unify the procedure for finding 4-round higher-order integral distinguishers of AES and ARIA and can be further extended to analyze higher-order integral distinguishers of various block cipher structures. We hope that the criterion presented in this paper will benefit the cryptanalysts and may thus lead to better cryptanalytic results.

  • This paper presents an extended integral control with the PID controller by introducing the delay and decaying factors. The convolution integral control scheme is developed by substituting proportional convolution integral controls for the proportional-integral control. So far, the integral part of the PI controller produces a signal that is proportional to the time integral of the input of the controller. The steady-state operation points are affected forever by the errors in the past due to the input signal containing the information of the errors in the past. These phenomina may cause some disturbances for other control purposes related to the given PI control. Introduction of forgetting factors of the error in the past can resolve the disturbance problems. Various forgetting factors are developed using the delay, the decaying factors, and the combination of the delay and the decaying factors. The proposed various extended integral control schemes can be applicable to corresponding PI control designs in which the error in the past may badly affect to the current steady-state operation points and may cause some disturbances for other control purposes.

Integral Attacks on Some Lightweight Block Ciphers

  • At EUROCRYPT 2015, Todo proposed a new technique named division property, and it is a powerful technique to find integral distinguishers. The original division property is also named word-based division property. Later, Todo and Morii once again proposed a new technique named the bit-based division property at FSE 2016 and find more rounds integral distinguisher for SIMON-32. There are two basic approaches currently being adopted in researches under the bit-based division property. One is conventional bit-based division property (CBDP), the other is bit-based division property using three-subset (BDPT). Particularly, BDPT is more powerful than CBDP. In this paper, we use Boolean Satisfiability Problem (SAT)-aided cryptanalysis to search integral distinguishers. We conduct experiments on SIMON-32/-48/-64/-96, SIMON (102)-32/-48/-64, SIMECK-32/-48/-64, LBlock, GIFT and Khudra to prove the efficiency of our method. For SIMON (102)-32/-48/-64, we can determine some bits are odd, while these bits can only be determined as constant in the previous result. For GIFT, more balanced (zero-sum) bits can be found. For LBlock, we can find some other new integral distinguishers. For Khudra, we obtain two 9-round integral distinguishers. For other ciphers, we can find the same integral distinguishers as before.

미소 원공결함을 갖는 Cr-Mo-V강의 고온피로 크랙전파거동 (A Study on the Fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior of Cr-Mo-V Alloy with Micro Defects at High Temperature.)

  • Fatigue tests were carried out at high temperature on a Cr-Mo-V steel in order to assess the fatigue life of components used in power plants. The characteristics of high temperature fatigue were divided in terms of cycle-dependent fatigue and time-dependent fatigue, each crack propagation rate was examined with respect to fatigue J-integral range, .DELTA. J$_{f}$and creep J-integral range, .DELTA. J$_{c}$. The fatigue life was evaluated by analysis of J-integral value at the crack tip with a dimensional finite element method. The results obtained from the present study are summarized as follows : The propagation characteristics of high temperature fatigue cracks are determined by .DELTA. J$_{f}$for the PP(tensile plasticity-compressive plasticity deformation) and PC(tensile plasticity - compressive creep deformation) stress waveform types, and by .DELTA. J$_{c}$for the CP(tensile creep- compressive plasticity deformation) stress waveform type. The crack propagation law of high temperature fatigue is obtained by analysis of J-integral value at the crack tip using the finite element method and applied to examine crack propagation behavior. The fatigue life is evaluated using the results of analysis by the finite element method. The predicted life and the actual life are close, within a factor of 2.f 2.f 2.

메모리 크기에 효율적인 적분영상 하드웨어 설계 연구 (A Study of Integral Image Hardware Design for Memory Size Efficiency)

  • 적분영상은 입력영상의 픽셀 값을 기준좌표부터 순차적으로 누적하여 만든 영상으로, Haar-like features와 같은 네모난 박스 모양의 필터 연산을 효율적으로 처리하기 위하여 사용된다. 그러나 적분영상은 입력영상보다 3배 이상 많은 메모리를 소모하기 때문에, 메모리 자원이 제한적인 하드웨어 설계 환경에서는 사용이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 메모리 사용을 위한 적분영상 하드웨어 설계 방법을 제안한다. 해당 방법은 적분영상 이외에 세로적분영상과 가로적분영상을 생성하고, 입력영상을 재사용 하는 방법을 사용한다. 그리고 박스 필터의 크기에 따라 modulo 연산을 적용하여 적분영상의 데이터 크기를 줄이는 방법을 함께 적용하였다. 적분 영상 데이터를 읽기 위해 나누어진 영상 데이터를 다시 덧셈해야하는 연산 오버헤드가 발생하지만, 4개의 데이터를 단순히 더하는 연산이므로 병렬처리가 가능한 하드웨어 환경에서는 큰 영향을 미치지 않는다. Xilinx사의 Virtex5-LX330T를 대상으로 실험한 결과 $640{\times}480$ 크기의 8bit gray-scale 입력영상에서 최대 $32{\times}32$ 크기의 필터사용을 기준으로 50%의 적분영상 메모리를 감소시킬 수 있다.

자동차용 리시버/건조기 일체형 응축기의 성능해석 (Performance Analysis of Integral Receiver/Dryer Condenser for Automobile)

  • The important problems from the point of view of preventing global warming are to save the power consumption of automotive air-conditioning systems and reduce the refrigerant amount filled. To achieve such requirements, integral receiver/dryer (R/D) condensers were developed recently. Typical integral R/D condensers have extra headers that play the role of R/D. Except an extra header and somewhat complex tube array resulting from the extra header, the most integral R/D condensers have almost the same specification that tube has multi channels, fin has louvers, flow in tube is parallel, etc. When integral condensers are applied, it is known that the refrigerating effect increases, resulting from the increase of subcooling degree in condenser, and the refrigerant amount used saves. In spite of several merits, integral condensers have not been applied a lot. That is why there is an uncertainty in performance, using integral condensers. The objective of this study is to theoretically optimize the tube array in an integral R/D condenser that is really being applied to some vehicles. The tube array has a great effect on the performance of the integral condenser as well as common ones. Through computer simulation, we could see that the tube array, 14-6-3-5-3-4, in the same condenser was the best, comparing heat release rate, pressure drop, etc. to the real array, 17-5-3-3-2-5. It should be noted that the optimization is based on the condenser performance only.
