  • In this paper, we composed solar generation system with multi-phase interleaved boost converter Solar generated voltage is low, so it has need of the boost power conversion device for supply power to normal load. The multi-phase interleaved boost converter is easy to boost voltage and it can be reduced both input current ripple and output voltage ripple because it is composed with multi-phase. We simulated and tested multi-phase interleaved boost converter applied three-phase.

  • An interleaved single-stage power-factor-correction (PFC) AC/DC converter is presented in this paper. The proposed converter is combined by two single-stage AC/DC converters based on flyback converter Each PFC stage operates in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). By exploiting the interleaving technique, the input ripple current and output ripple voltage are reduced. The proposed converter complied with EN/1EC61000-3-2 harmonic regulations achieves high efficiency and low cost. The performance of the proposed converter was evaluated on a 180W $(90W\times2,\;24V,\;7.5A)$ experimental prototype.

Improved Direct Torque Control for Sensorless Matrix Converter Drives with Constant Switching Frequency and Torque Ripple Reduction

  • In this paper, an improved direct torque control (DTC) method for sensorless matrix converter drives is proposed which enables to minimize torque ripple, to obtain unity input power factor, and to achieve good sensorless speed-control performance in the low speed operation, while maintaining constant switching frequency and fast torque dynamics. It is possible to combine the advantages of matrix converters with the advantages of the DTC strategy using space vector modulation and a flux deadbeat controller. To overcome the phase current distortion by the non-linearity of a matrix converter drive, the simple non-linearity compensation method using PQR power theory are presented in the proposed scheme. Experimental results are shown to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed strategy.

  • The switched reluctance drive system is known to provide a good adjustable speed and torque characteristics. However, acoustic noise and higher torque ripple are drawbacks. These drawbacks show the fact that SRM drive is not operated with mmf current specified for dwell angle and input voltage. Reducing torque ripple and having precise speed control, PLL technique is adopted. The PLL system in conjunction with dynamic dwell angle control scheme has good speed regulation characteristics. A TMS320F240 based on the DSP is used to realizing this drive system. Test results show that the system has the ability to achieve good dynamic and precise speed control.

  • In this paper the digital control scheme of interleaved PFC for 3-phase modular UPS is presented. The interleaved PFC is composed of two identical PFC connected in parallel and each PFC is controlled by the interleaved switching signals which have the same switching frequency and the $180^{\circ}$ phase difference. As a consequence of the interleaving operation, the Interleaved PFC exhibits both lower current ripple at the input side and lower voltage ripple at the outside. Therefore, the switching and conduction losses as well as EMI levels can be significantly decreased. Simulation and experimental results verify the usefulness of the interleaved PFC.

  • In this paper, an optimal selection methodology for the number of phases will be proposed for an interleaved boost converter (IBC). Also, the analysis of the input current ripple according to CCM and DCM is carried out. The proposed design methodology will be theoretically analyzed, and its validity verified by simulation as well as with experimental results. Moreover, a comparison of cost and efficiency based on a 600W laboratory prototype using the Ballard NEXA 1.2kW PEMFC system is demonstrated.

Practical Implementation of an Interleaved Boost Converter for Electric Vehicle Applications

  • This study presents a practical implementation of a multi-mode two-phase interleaved boost converter for fuel cell electric vehicle application. The main operating modes, which include two continuous conducting modes and four discontinuous conducting modes, are discussed. The boundaries and transitions among these modes are analyzed with consideration of the inductor parasitic resistance. The safe operational area is analyzed through a comparison of the different operating modes. The output voltage and power characteristics with open-loop or closed-loop operation are also discussed. Key performance parameters, including the DC voltage gain, input ripple current, output ripple voltage, and switch stresses, are presented and supported by simulation and experimental results.

Comparison of Two Reactive Power Definitions in DFIG Wind Power System under Grid Unbalanced Condition

  • This paper compares two instantaneous reactive power definitions in DFIG wind turbine with a back-to-back three-level neutral-point clamped voltage source converter under unbalanced grid conditions. In general, conventional definition of instantaneous reactive power is obtained by taking an imaginary component of complex power. The other definition of instantaneous reactive power can be developed based on a set of voltages lagging the grid input voltages by 90 degree. A complex quantity referred as a quadrature complex power is defined. Proposed definition of instantaneous reactive power is derived by taking a real component of quadrature complex power. The characteristics of two instantaneous reactive power definitions are compared using the ripple-free stator active power control algorithm in DFIG. Instantaneous reactive power definition based on quadrature complex power has a simpler current reference calculation control block. Ripple of instantaneous active and reactive power has the same magnitude unlike in conventional definition under grid unbalance. Comparison results of two instantaneous reactive power definitions are verified through simulation.

  • An active clamp forward converter is proper for minimization and basically makes high efficiency of the system because of soft switching type. Especially, when applied to forward converter, it widens the control range of duty ratio and is suitable for high input voltage. In other hand, the current doubler has high utility efficiency of transformer and reduces output current ripple because it always transfers the power through the transformer and has two inductor with opposite slope. So, this paper explained the conduction mode of an active clamp forward converter with the current doubler rectifier.

  • In this paper, recursive least square algorithm is presented to estimate the parameters of step motor under low-speed operation. Parameter estimation is important for compensating the input current by calculating the ratio of the motor torque constant and detent torque constant that causes torque-ripple in low-speed applications. On-line parameter estimation process is a preliminary procedure to apply step motor to adaptive control. Computer simulation shows that the estimated parameters converge in finite time.
