  • A 1.9-GHz linear CMOS power amplifier is presented. An adaptive bias circuit (ABC) that utilizes an AC ground to detect the power level of the input signal is proposed to enhance the linearity and efficiency of the power amplifier. The ABC utilizes the second harmonic component as the input to mitigate the distortion of the fundamental signal. The input power level of the ABC was detected at the AC ground located at the VDD node of the power amplifier. The output of the ABC was fed into the inputs of the power stage. The input signal distortion was mitigated by detecting the input power level at the AC ground. The power amplifier was designed using a 180 nm RFCMOS process to evaluate the feasibility of the application of the proposed ABC in the power amplifier. The measured output power and power-added efficiency were improved by 1.7 dB and 2.9%, respectively.

  • This paper considers the problem of the optimal input design for parameter estimtion in the ARMAX model in which the system and noise transfer function have the common denominator polynomial. Deriving the information matrix, in detail, for the assumed model structure and using the autocorrelation functin of the filtered input as design variables, it is shown that D-optimal input signal can be realized as an autoregressive moving average process. Computer simulations are carried out to show the standard-deviation reduction in the parameter estimtes using the optimal input signal.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to analyze security vulnerabilities of MS word-processor by checking the validation of its input files. That is, this study is to detect some vulnerabilities in the input file of the word processor by analyzing the header information of its input file. This validation test can not be conducted by the existing software fault injection tools including Holodeck and CANVAS. The proposed method can be also applied to identify the input file vulnerabilities of Hangul and Microsoft Excel which handle a data file with a header as an input. Moreover, our method can provide a means for assessing the fault tolerance and trustworthiness of the target software.

  • The Chinese Pinyin system using Roman characters is used to input Chinese into a computer or a smartphone. However, because the Chinese Pinyin system can not express Chinese pronunciation accurately as it is, it is very difficult for Korean people to input Chinese using this system In this paper, we designed a Chinese input system using Hangeul which can best represent pronunciations among the world's characters. In the system proposed in this study, Chinese input is possible even when Chinese pronunciation is similarly expressed, which increases the probability of successful input and also verified it through performance evaluation.

  • This paper is to propose an efficient and reliable control procedure of Base Station Controller of mobile communication system for bulk input messages which was delivered instantaneously. We divided the input messages that are processed by the base station controller of the mobile communication system into two things ; they are messages related to call connection and o&m(operation and maintenance). In addition, we analyzed the properties of the input messages and then performed computer simulation on each input message by using M/M/1/K queueing model in term of the following viewpoints : the loss probability of input messages, the average queue length, the utilization of process controller(server),the average waiting time in queue. And we compared the performance of the two input messages in the overload controlling which was caused by the congested input messages.

  • With a rapid extension of functions in mobile phones, text input method has become very important for mobile phone users. Previous studies for text input methods were focused on Fitts' law, emphasizing expert's behaviors with one-handed text input method. However, it was observed that 97% of Korean mobile phone users input texts with two-hands. Therefore, this study was designed to develop a prediction model of two-handed Hangul text entry method including novice users as well as experts for mobile phone. For this study, Fitts' law was hypothesized to predict experts' movement time(MT) whereas Hick-Hyman law for visual search time was hypothesized to be added to MT for novices. The results showed that the prediction model was well fitted with the empirical data for both experts and novices with less than 3% error rates. In conclusion, this prediction model of two-handed Hangul text entry including novice users was proven to be a very effective model for modeling two-handed Hangul text input behavior for both experts.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy neural network pattern classifier utilizing fuzzy information. This system works without any a priori information about the number of clusters or cluster centers. It classifies each input according to the distance between the weights and the normalized input using Bezdek's [1] fuzzy membership value equation. This model returns the correct membership value for each input vector and find several cluster centers. Some experimental studies of comparison with other algorithms will be presented for sample data sets.

  • An unknown input observer is proposed that can be used in wheelbase preview control of commercial vehicles. The preview and state information, required to calculate actuator force, are reconstructed from the measurement variables such as heave and pitch acceleration. Gain matrix of observer is optimally selected so that influence of system and measurement noises on the estimation error can be minimized. Estimated preview information requires low pass filtering to eliminate high frequency components resulting from differentiation of noisy output signals. Effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by numerical simulation of half car model.

  • An estimating procedure is introduced for kernel Poisson regression when the input variables consist of numerical and categorical variables, which is based on the penalized negative log-likelihood and the component-wise product of two different types of kernel functions. The proposed procedure provides the estimates of the mean function of the response variables, where the canonical parameter is linearly and/or nonlinearly related to the input variables. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of the proposed kernel Poisson regression.
