  • With the increasing importance of ecosystem in a business environment, the value of open innovation is receiving great attention. Under open innovation, companies open their knowledge, capital, and other resources to cooperating companies; on the other hand, under closed innovation companies depend solely on their own resources. In this paper, we compare closed and open innovation using the simulation method, and confirm that in terms of total capital and production of the industry, open innovation provides greater opportunities to the entire ecosystem. Moreover, Schumpeterian competition, which is a dynamic of closed innovation, functions even under open innovation. Our findings highlight that not only small but also large companies can receive the benefit of an enlarged industry under open innovation.

  • In this paper, a Efficient method for the mixed image separation is presented using independent component analysis and the new fast expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm. In general, the independent component analysis (ICA) is one of the widely used statistical signal processing scheme in various applications. However, it has been known that ICA does not establish good performance in source separation by itself. So, Innovation process which is one of the methods that were employed in image separation using ICA, which produces improved the mixed image separation. Unfortunately, the innovation process needs long processing time compared with ICA or EM. Thus, in order to overcome this limitation, we proposed new method which combined ICA with the New fast EM algorithm instead of using the innovation process. Proposed method improves the performance and reduces the total processing time for the Image separation. We compared our proposed method with ICA combined with innovation process. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method by applying it to image separation problems.

  • The document is a white paper on Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography (HILIC) analysis method development. HILIC is a type of chromatography that uses an organic/aqueous mobile phase and a polar stationary phase. In HILIC, water is a strong solvent, and unlike in Reversed Phase Liquid Chromatography (RPLC), increasing the proportion of water in the mobile phase reduces the retention time of the analyte. The paper discusses when to consider HILIC analysis methods, the advantages of HILIC, and the challenges often encountered due to the lack of understanding of HILIC mechanisms compared to RPLC. It also provides a systematic flowchart for intelligent solutions for HILIC analysis method development, which includes a three-step approach for chromatography analysis method development. The first step involves gathering as much information as possible about the analyte (e.g., pKa, log P, log D). The second step involves analyzing the sample under different pH conditions using three HILIC columns in either isocratic or gradient mode to identify the suitable column/pH combination for the analyte. The third step involves optimizing the separation by investigating other parameters such as temperature and ionic strength, and assessing the robustness of the method. The paper emphasizes that the selection of the appropriate stationary/mobile phase combination, based on the differences between the HILIC stationary phases and the mobile phase pH, can provide high selectivity in the analysis. This step-by-step approach can help users develop an efficient analysis method.

  • The study seeks to investigate the relationship between knowledge sharing and innovation in garment and textile enterprises. While previous research has found many factors influencing knowledge sharing, little research has been done about the influence of knowledge sharing on innovation in enterprises in developing countries like Vietnam. In particular, the textile industry plays an important role in export, but outsourcing is accounting for a high proportion of trade; it is necessary to increase innovation in order to increase the competitive advantage by internal capacity. The data is collected from a survey of 245 employees at 20 textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam to study the knowledge sharing influence on innovation. The methodology includes pilot study and quantitative method. The pilot study tests the questionnaire on the respondents. The quantitative method applies SEM analysis to measure the knowledge sharing influence on innovation. The results identify eight factors that positively impact knowledge sharing: rewarding, teamwork, management support, joy of knowledge sharing, communication, trust, commitment, and information technology. This study also shows that knowledge sharing affects innovation. The main findings are discussed for textile and garment enterprises to apply innovative capacity in the context of increasing global integration.

  • This study aims to address the literature gap by examining the direct relationship between big data analytics capability, marketing innovation, and organizational innovations. Additionally, this study would examine big data analytics capability as the antecedent for both innovation types and how these relationships influence firm performance. The research model is developed based on the integration of resource-based view and knowledge-based view theories. The quantitative method is used as the research methodology for this study. Based on a purposive sampling method, a total of 115 questionnaires were obtained from managers in star-rated hotels located in Malaysia. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is utilized for the data analysis. The result shows that big data analytics capability positively affects marketing and organizational innovations. The findings show that big data analytics capability and organizational innovation positively influence firm performance. Nonetheless, the result revealed that marketing innovation is not positively related to firm performance. The findings also indicate to hotel managers the importance of big data analytic capability and the resources required to build and develop this capability. The contributions from this study enrich the literature on big data and innovation, which is particularly limited in the hospitality and tourism context.

  • 2D/1D coupling method is an important neutron transport calculation method due to its high accuracy and relatively low computation cost. However, 2D/1D coupling method may diverge especially in small axial mesh size. To analyze the convergence behavior of 2D/1D coupling method, a Fourier analysis for k-eigenvalue neutron transport problems is implemented. The analysis results present the divergence problem of 2D/1D coupling method in small axial mesh size. Several common attempts are made to solve the divergence problem, which are to increase the number of inner iterations of the 2D or 1D calculation, and two times 1D calculations per outer iteration. However, these attempts only could improve the convergence rate but cannot deal with the divergence problem of 2D/1D coupling method thoroughly. Moreover, the choice of axial solvers, such as DGFEM SN and traditional SN, and its effect on the convergence behavior are also discussed. The results show that the choice of axial solver is a key point for the convergence of 2D/1D method. The DGFEM SN based 2D/1D method could converge within a wide range of optical thickness region, which is superior to that of traditional SN method.
